    Thanks for sharing.
NOTE: I tried this on the Zero 2 (yes, I know the title says Pi 5), and it only works on PI 4 or higher.

Thanks for taking the time to watch, yes the command is only for Pi4 and Pi5

Yes only Pi4 and Pi5 support this feature, future Pi's might but for now just them two.

raspi-config not available in stock ubuntu for pi5, did work on pi os.

Note: If you're missing the option to change the bootloader-version, check if you're running the latest version of raspi-config. The one on Ubuntu is missing it.

This. It’s always a good idea to update everything before attempting and bootloader/firmware update.

    Hey! Thanks for the video.
Mine is not working for some reason.
I changed the boot order to Network, but on the initial bootloader screen, it finds the IP address, but it doesn't go to the "imager". It just keeps rebooting.
    Am I doing something wrong?

Same here, have the bootloader from April 2024, but it will not start into the imager.

Not sure why I have two Pi 5s and they both updated fine, I also just tried anf rolled mine back to a previous version and upidated again, it worked OK. I would say if you have a spare SD card flash it fresh with Pi OS bookworm 64bit desktop version and try it with nothing else installed into Pi OS

Is it possible to flash the os this way on the NVME ?

    • @WattTheTech
      @WattTheTech  10 місяців тому +1

Don't see why not, as long as your running Pi OS on NVME, only thing I don't have one to test it with yet. But should work the same. I have used a USB memory stick and it work with Pi OS running on that.

@@WattTheTech I thought there were some commands in config.txt you needed to add to enable the PCIE header / lanes, not sure if this network installer is smart enough to automatically write them or not.

Mine does not boot with the network no matter what version of the eeprom i use. I guess i will need to buy an nvme external connector

What I always say to people that have issues. Temporarily get another spare SD card install a fresh latest Pi OS then update and apply the new eeprom
Once the update is done it’s in the firmware on the Pi so then you can just pull that SD card out and go back to your normal card the update will be install OK

    Is this coming to rp4?

    • @WattTheTech

The Pi 4 has a different bootloader so the version number is different. The Pi 4 has had this feature for well over a year. But you can update the Pi 4 bootloader with the same command in the same way as the video to make sure your running the latest version.

Try booting from sd card. Maybe you got defective unit so might want to check if you still have warranty.

Try another SD card, faulty Pi's can happen but its very rare. Most probably the SD card. Flash the card with another computer and use Pi Imager running on that.

Also, have you made sure to use powerful 5V charger? I think it's stupid of the Foundation but the Pi 4 and 5 both require powerful 5V charger. Even if you have an awesome PD charger that can do higher volts / wattages, they only use the 5V setting so that needs to be good (3A capable ideally). If it's particularly weak it can brownout on boot. @@lashturner
After that if it's DOA I'd just return it...
