I fell in love with this truck! Hopefully I will get to drive it next time. Maybe they will open a BYD in Reynosa. If not , its only a hour flight from San Antonio , TX to Monterrey , Mexico. I forgot to add , this truck is approx $50K USD , approx $900K MXN

a consulting firm in Michigan reviewed BYD EVs , broke them down , studied them and came to the conclusion , BYD in the U.S. market would be catastrophic . free market is a free market. haters say BYD has govt funding , uh , pretty sure our automakers have received govt assistance ( tax breaks , bail outs etc) 🤠
@@uncledeeproductions8854 The number I heard was that BYD got $3.7B in direct subsidies. They produce and sell 3M cars a year. In the US, a minor 3rd rate EV company called Vinfast was approved for $1.2B in subsidies by NC and they produce maybe 30K-40K cars per year worldwide. Just think of the difference in the per car subsidies!

BYD Shark starts at 65k NZD in New Zealand. Around 38k USD , 58k AUD. Will cause massive waves......Toyota and Ford pale.

This is a nice looking truck with a good price but unfortunately it’s forbidden fruit.
Americans not allowed to buy it for sure you can’t import it they will say it does not meet US standards.
You can see if Chinese cars were allowed into the USA they would put the big 3 out of business.
Yes lots of people make a living in the US making cars but a whole lot more people buy cars and would benefit with these cars
thank you for presenting "both sides" of the equation , as in , yes we have alot of American employees that depend on the auto market. on the flip side, alot of us are priced out of the market , the middle class has been forgotten. I like BYD in the fact that they can cater to any demographic , if u just want a point A to point B car , they have it , if you want a luxury vehicle , they have it. they have hybrids , which I love, I am making a vid on this topic shortly 🤠

@@uncledeeproductions8854 In the States we are not allowed to buy , the tariffs will be so high and if people still buy the government will say you can’t buy because the Chinese will be spying on you when you drive down the road .
I use to watch Wheelsboy on UA-cam where he drives all the gorgeous Chinese cars many that I could actually afford.
But I stopped no point dreaming over something I will never be allowed to buy .
It’s like drooling over the glossy pictures in Playboy what’s the point they are all unattainable.

@@MRT-co1sd that is correct , it would need to be registered in MX. If I bought it ( financed ) I would need a letter from the lender in Mexico. that is ok for me to drive in The Republic of Texas , I mean Texas,lol. you are also correct , I would need a U.S. based insurance carrier to cover the vehicle for the time I have it in the U.S.. I would present those documents to the border guards and then I could drive the BYD for up to one year in the USA . there could be issues as far as getting into an accident. If I wanted to register the vehicle in TX then the 125% tariff would take place . also there might be bond required and a duty fee , I assume it would need to meet EPA guidelines too. I am researching this topic and will make a vid. I have a home in TX and a small home in Cancun , my wife is a Mexican National, so essentially I can buy one (in Mexico) , but need to work out the details as far as crossing the border with it 🤠

@@soowo5942 they prob can ! BYD seems to defy all standards ( in a good way ) . I need to reseacrh that , I know BYD knows how to handle leather. I will tell you this , IMO , the seats in the Shark were very comfortable. Im by far NOT a person into luxrious things , but that seat felt good. The A/C i powerful ,lol 🤠
Vertical integration. BYD has like over 80% of the parts built in house.

Can you drive the car with Mexican plate instead avoiding paying extra tariff taxes in US?
when I buy the BYD Shark in Mexico , it will have Mexico plates. you can drive it with Mexican plates for up to one year in the USA. if you try to register it , in the USA , as in getting a USA VIN ( vehicle ID # ) then the 100% tariff would apply since it was made 100% in China. IF BYD opens a plant in Mexico and makes a Shark Truck at the plant in MX , those documents would show 100% made in MX and you could register it in the USA and just pay an import fee based on the MX/Canada/ USA trade agreement , and would have to pass USA safety standards. BUT , USA and Canada are trying to find a way to close that "loophole" . USA and Canada do not want BYD in their countries, unless BYD builds a plant in the USA . 2 countries in the whole world where I can not buy the most tech Truck ever made🤠🤠🤠

The legacy automakers could make the shift long time ago but instead like Volkswagen fake their emissions instead, all profits went where? So US will become a worse China with the difference that there is no ending in subsidies to keep prices low! China invest more in infrastructure than other areas. China does not have prices low by subsidies, they export cars have higher prices. Now, General Motors is saying the Chinese are innovating too fast! China more capitalist with over 100 car makers makes China the most competitive country in the world. US becoming communist!

The only DMO car we have here in China is Bao5 which is the SUV version of the Shark. But I think the UTE look of the car is better.
