A tempting alternative to a Toyota Hilux or Ford Ranger?
Absolutely.
@@Cupid_Stunt No official price yet.
@@Cupid_Stunt Its claimed range is 840 km (522 mi) (NEDC) with an Electric range of 100 km (62 mi) (NEDC). Divide that by 2 and you won't be far off the towing scenario you mentioned. Electric won't contribute much while towing except for some regen...
@@Cupid_Stunt If you have a look at the article in "Which Car", they claim; "In Mexico, the BYD Shark is priced from 899,980 pesos (AU$80,500), but local pricing should start closer to $70,000 before on-road costs - similar to the diesel Ford Ranger Wildtrak, Toyota HiLux GR Sport and Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain utes."
@@Cupid_Stunt Yeah, bit of a bummer, but you do get V2L so for camping that will save buying and installing a battery system, solar panels etc. I guess the 1.5L is direct injected to give that kind of performance, so that brings it closer to diesel efficiency and the dual electric motor could potentially deliver diesels torque at extremely low RPM. As for longetivty, they are pretty good these days. Maybe not the 180,000km design life my diesel 4x4 has, but close enought I expect. However its all on paper ATM, so got to take it with a grain of salt until some real Australian testing is done with a 2.5t trailer and off-road conditions. Then some longer term testing. That will be very interesting.
it's welcome as it provides another choice for buyers.
At least it will stop other trucks from jacking up their prices
lol hardley
Looks impressive!
@@Cupid_Stuntyou don’t know for sure and stop trying. Cope.
@@Cupid_Stunt obviously you can’t afford quality stuff at all. iPhone for example.
The massive BYD signage looks tacky asf mf
The VTL at the truck bed is very useful for tradies
Hope it comes to Thailand. I will buy one after the second or third version.
Love ur old and new fashion usb
Thanks for the video
That is a definite possibility for doing the great lap of Australia. Is it a plug in hybrid per chance?
Yes. Plug-in.
@@EVQuest Nice one BYD!!!
Thank you for the vid.
Do you think it’s roomy enough for a guy of 185cm in the rear? Also do you happen to know how wide the tires are?
I'm 182cm. I had the front seat in my position when I got into the back. It was a bit tight. I'd be Ok for a short trip. Headroom was fine. It was comfortable seat. On the tyres, I did a closeup on a photo I took. Continetal CrossContact (RX?maybe). 18 inch. I couldn't find official info on the tires, so I'm not 100% sure if this is the official tire being released. But I presume it is.
Is this car coming to Australia?
Yup
@@reginald7214 cheers, that's cool
Nice one.
what are you cheeking out?
Why are the prices for byd in nz over 50k. They only cost 15k in China. Boycott all western dealers.
What was the flashing purple light on driver’s side the A pillar?
I think it's a Driver Attention Warning system (DAW). It monitors driver fatigue.
@@EVQuestyes
😊😊😊😊add a sunroof n its huuuum
Awesome🎉🎉🎉
太棒了,阿MAW
Looks like Ford f150 lighting
❤
Not too much difference with ranger and hilex which have been exploring the market tens years. I think this is the first generation truck of Byd. May be not that reliable same as ranger and hilex at beginning. I have more expectation to third generation with more technology iterations. For example dmi tech may interest customers.
the tech in this car is way better than ranger & hilex, check the power system
Ask the Mexicans, they are using them right now.
My only problem is the display, I like the odometer to be both mechanical and digital. But it's a beautiful car
was the bodywork as solid as the legacy brands or a lighter guage?
Hi. Bodywork felt solid and well honed.
3t
You should think about how it will be able to move when the battery runs out, it is a 1.5 turbo
By design, BYD system will never run out of battery. Engine will recharge battery at certain battery level.
@@robbrand922 that's not true, if you demand performance you'll run out if battery
@@joseluisortsagullo3008 no the car's program won't allow 100% draining of battery
90kms for the electric engine isn't bad at all. Only problem is, these cars will likely cost twice or three times as much due to tariffs against China.
What tariffs? there are no tariffs. 🤣🤣🤣
That's Americans problem, not the Aussies.
fun fact:in china, all pickup trucks are only allowed to be driven for 15 years😂
in China, almost the lower Euro standards cars could not even be registered and have their life spans. What do you laugh about? 😅
@@leixia9788 all pick up trucks, including F150, thundra, hummer ev… no matter how expensive it is , is
Forced to be scraped after 15 years of years if registered in China
2,5t towing is the yoke
shhark?
我有一辆比亚迪海豚🐬
Id prefer pure EV,,Im in Canada and all Tesla drivers are happy here.
Pure EV for a ute is a bad idea.
@@aljoubert8749 cybertruck, f150 lightning, rivian. not to mention a Tesla Semi. nothing wrong with full electric for anything
@@googleuser793 If you are not looking for a work vehicle then go for it. As w work truck towing loads it is a huge fail and high speed DC charging is now more expensive than petrol/DC per km in a country like Aus if you are looking at ute Wh/km usage
@@googleuser793full Bev for all those is embarrassing. Semi? Seriously? It can't haul loads heavier than potato chips. JFC.
I don’t get why hybrids get lumped in with EV. They are just an ICE with a small battery and some regen. Not an EV.
但它最终还是电动机驱动,发动机只是提供电力。
可混动也可以纯电啊😂为了省钱在市区尽量纯电驾驶
For people who only drive 100 kilometers a day, this is just an electric car.
@@Panda-ii7vr But you still have to buy/carry and maintain an ICE engine at all its support.
OMG those 3 letters at the front and back look awful.
Burn Your Driveway = BYD. Some say 🤷🏼♂️🙀🔥
Then get a ford. Simple
Be your daddy
They can't spell shark correctly on the licence plate
Obviously, looks exactly like a Nissan pick up truck. They must have sold that design.
Hilux all the way,proven tough..
I don't see the point in making it hybrid when you now have to plug it in at home and fill up at the station. Byd has full electric cars already so forget making hybrids
In Australia and other big country's there isn't always a place to plug, in but plenty of petrol stations.
So you can use petrol to get you to the next available plug in opportunity
Hybrids sales are way higher globally than Bev sales. And a Bev truck is garbage.
According to BYD's latest news, their newest hybrid technology, DMI-5, has broken the world record for combustion efficiency. I remember it seems to be 48% or 46%. Enable their cars to travel 2100km with a 65L fuel tank, with the price at around AUD 20800 in China. So I think many families may still consider purchasing hybrid cars at present, because it's just so affordable
@@Cupid_Stunt they have been tested. UA-cam videos available.
@@Cupid_Stunt oh please, 7 people on the planet use a truck to tow. It'll be a pavement princess like all the rest and that's fine.
Lol who would pay 55k for Chinese garbage?
You live in stone age or your mind is poisoned.
Europeans, Mexicans. Brazilians, and Russians, if Chinese cars were crap then they wouldn't continue to sell in those countries, after all, they sell for twice as much in those countries as they do in China itself, which means that it's the middle class and wealthy families that buy Chinese cars, and lastly I don't think you have $100,000 in savings... Buying a Chinese car is very difficult, your 20 year old car is a good match for you
你就是垃圾,
Australia NZ still buying, garbage to some but 30% people are considering buy if right spec
China makes more cars every year than the next 5 countries combined. Sure, they make some crap but they still probably make more good cars than anybody else makes cars total.
what a low quality video
