I have a good size piece of marble countertop from where we up graded our kitchen. It’s one expensive ass piece of cylinder head flattening table. LOL. They have to cut the opening for the cook top on site, so the installers tried to load the rather large cut out on their truck. I caught them on the way out the door and was like I’ll take that, thank you.
Great video! 🏆 simple and straightforward, which makes this one of the best videos of its kind! I need to do my 302 heads, but unfortunately I don’t have a garage anymore. Again, great video guys!!! 🏁
That’s pretty much how I do it, the only thing I didn’t see you do was settle the keepers. It’s old school and how my old man trained me. Take a ball peen hammer and tap the top of each valve, it helps the valve keepers settle.
I found if you put a good hand lotion on be for you start getting your hands greasy the grease won't suck into your hands grease will wash off your hands really easy just a tip
hello. Thank you very much for the video. I have a couple of heads like that, with fixed bolts for the rocker arms. They told me that I had to change a couple of bolts because they are stripped. It is very difficult to change them, how do you recommend doing it? Thank you very much for your attention.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
If you are only doing a umbrella seal replacement you can actually get a tool that screws into the head that you can use compressed air to keep the valve for it needs to be . You want to be able to maintain about 60 PSI to keep the valve where it should be.
If you are trying to do this with the valve in the head and the head on the engine you can pull that particular cylinder up to top dead center, both valves closed, and use a device that you screw into the spark plug hole to hold pressure from a compressor. This will allow you to compress the spring and remove the keepers and then get to the umbrella seals if that is your goal
Aint no dam way I'm gonna watch a fast forward with no voice for teaching and listen to that stupid music for 30 mins. I came to learn how to take apart a set of heads? I made it to 3.33 and I'm out LOL!
We only fast forward when talking isn't done. Normal video speed without talking is like watching paint dry or soap soak. Not sure how you can't "see" what we are doing.
Absolutely spectacular 👌 🙌 you need to get a UA-cam award. ..
Wow, thank you!

Nice! We have a granite shop near here and I've told the old dude I would take a 40x15 section if he had some to spare.
Love the graphics of the frequency changes when lapping in the valves. Great video.

And where can you find a thick piece of glass big enough to do that on? Ikea. No joke.
I need to know where you got the tool for the valves 😂 I see it keeps it seated while compressing the spring. 🔥
In the meantime I would like to know a another way to keep the valve seated so I can take my keepers n retainers out

What valve stem seal set did you use?

Im confused, why would u not install new valves n seats while ur inside?
