    I love how you complimented the coyotes. I love to hear them sing at night. Beautiful area, I love cactus, pipe organ, etc. Love the variety of activities going on. You made my day when opened some HB meet and you didn't pull out a pound of seaweed or kelp. That morning walk was amazingly "beautiful"! Great video. Thanks for sharing.

    That’s my thoughts on if I was a van lifer, I would do both. I would totally use the RV park to deep clean, do laundry, rest with lots of naps, etc. Then back off to boon-docking.

    Arizona is truly an amazing state. I'm glad I lived there for 10 years before the invasion started in about 2000. My daughter still lives there and has been teaching for about 15 years now. I was a charter pilot and flig ht instructor out of Scottsdale and I've seen about every square inch from the air, we'll soon be leaving Tennessee in our RV to hit the road in retirement full time and returning to take our grandkids to some of the great spots where we took our daughter camping during the 1990s. Great video, I can't wait to get back.

    I can tell you right now what the "limitations" are with that van...not too much. I don't know if someone makes a lift lit for that dually, but if they do a mere 2" would make a huge difference when off road...I think you're stuck with what you've got though...which is a bummer, because it's only a matter of time and the bottom of that thing is gonna take some hits. You can always ride your bike ahead to see what awaits on some of these roads, but another great idea is a small drone...using that too scope the area saves a ton of time. I can't tell you how many times I've used it to see a nice campsite half a mile ahead and then another that blows it away a bit further than that...the drone pays for itself, really.

    I really like 7 days of boondocking followed by a day in an rv park. It allows me to do laundry dump and fill and get a full battery charge. Thousand trails/Encore parks are alright but you seem to be packed in like sardines. When I'm in Quartziite I like Arizona sun rv at $30 a night, it's worth the $120 a month to not have to wait for services in town.

    Hello again....Sorry for being so critical. I live in AZ and boondock from time to time and jeep these kind of trails. You really do need a two or three inch lift kit. I would not go off road without a little more lift. Very nice van, BTW.

    Is it acceptable to trim down some of those branches to prevent your rig from getting scratched as you crawl by?

    • @PsRohrbaugh
      @PsRohrbaugh 3 роки тому

      The legality depends on whether it's a national forest, national park, BLM land, state park, or private - they've each got different rules. But if it's a small branch and you're not needing to get out a chainsaw or ax people probably won't care. Even better if nobody sees you.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  3 роки тому +6

      The branches were actually cut already, but it was still a tight fit. A good way to think about it is what if 1000's of people do the same thing, or decide to remove a little barrel cactus cause it in their way. We try not to disturb any of the landscape, but also not damage our rig of course.

    Thanks for this. I'm in S. Cal. with an Airstream or getaways, so informed leads on quiet spots in range is a tremendous help. I especially enjoyed the dawn walk with an eye to the flora. Very nice. You asked about interest on safety matters. I'm interested. The equipment reviews are very good, as always. I looked for a link to the new grill but don't see it here. Also, am I right to assume it's hooked up to your internal tank? Thanks again. I haven't hooked up a grill yet, and I've got some research to do about specific regulator requirements for my Interstate and any grill I buy.

      I need to do a specific video on the blackstone, but I chose it for two reasons. 1) the flat small size when storing under the rear seat. 2) It's regulator is built into a detachable hose that goes to the small 1lb green propane canisters. This means when you unscrew the included hose and replace it with a quick disconnect style (on that link) you can attach it to your onboard propane on your RV. Many other grills have built in regulators and they don't work with RV propane tanks because they have built in regs as well. Hope this helps!

We just got back after an overnight stay when we woke up to no house power, maybe a newbie mistake! I thought we were good on battery level, we watched a bit of TV for a couple of hours, charged phones and left our aisle lights on. We didn’t even have enough to start the generator. We were at a Harvest Host and fortunately the owner was around first thing and got us hooked up to power. Thanks so much to Mike at Tres Pinos Inn, CA. You have 200 amps of lithium? 400 is lasting us about 4 full days in the winter and 10 days in the summer and that's with a lot of laptop charging and daily use.
      Did you switch out your battery isolator for a lithium one? This ensure the alternator fully charges the lithium. LI-BIM225

      @IreneIronTravels  3 роки тому

      Good question! Washes are very recognizable after you have seen them and they are all over the desert areas. It is basically where the water flows after heavy rains and it creates a river in the desert. We have never seen the water, but the dried washes look like river beds, with loose rock, sand, and gravel. Very soft and they often cross roads out in BLM lands.

      I think the small class C's are great for more space, a slide out, and bigger tanks as well. But, the big trade off is the width of those. It would not have fit very well down the road in this video, but you could still stay in the same area, but just closer to other people and closer to the main road. We also do alot of big cites and it would be tighter there as well.
