      @@IreneIronTravels I have a 24ft Sprinter and have had some folks try to help but it is not advisable to depend on (or use) them. Not because they are not well intentioned but you don't know their observation skills or attention to details all around the rear or sides or top of your vehicle. They may not observe a tree branch overhanging that may damage your (high) 10ft roof. In a car something at about 10ft or a bit less is never an issue. I would always acknowledge them with a smile or hand gesture.

    Brand new subscriber AND a brand new Class B Pleasure Way owner! With all that is going on in the world, we made the decision to buy a small rv and try seeing this beautiful country from the road rather than rush around and fly everywhere. Our first trip will be from San Diego area back to Kentucky to visit our son and his family. Our grand daughter will be turning 12 in mid August, so we shall arrive there in plenty of time to celebrate with her. Our new-to-us Class B is a 2005 model year powered by a Mercedes Benz turbo diesel. About 22 ft. long and quite easy to drive! Watching you kids travel has made our upcoming travels even more anticipated than we thought. At our mid seventies, it's now or never!

Love the Stanley hotel and it’s so helpful to hear how you change things around when you need to. We are having to completely redo our trip because of the Covid spiking and some help my daughter need right now and I was bummed my carefully laid out plan had to be dismantled - so thanks for your positive attitude - it’s contagious! I must have missed the footage of you taking a “skip” through the park - you will have to add the skipping to the next video!thanks again for your videos!

    Nice video! I love Rocky Mountain National Park. Too bad you didn't get to see more of it. Maybe next time. My first visit to the park was in the summer of 1982. That was the summer of the tragic flood that practically wiped out the main drag of Estes Park. The locals still talk about it. I had spent a couple of days in Rocky Mtn. Natl. Pk and was planning to stay a night in Estes Park. I reserved a campsite in an Estes Park municipal campground. I was trying to get set up on the picnic table for dinner. The weather quickly turned ugly. Dark, foreboding clouds accompanied by high winds. Cooking and eating at the picnic table was soon impossible. I had a Volkswagen camper bus at the time. I'd cooked and ate meals inside the bus before. Eating in the bus was fine but I never liked cooking inside. I decided to pack up and move on into Wyoming with my next destination being Yellowstone. Three days later I went into a little general store in Yellowstone. I happened to glance at the newspaper in the rack. I was shocked to see on the front page a picture of the main street of Estes Park buried in about 2 feet of mud! A dam, that was actually located inside Rocky Mountain Park had failed, sending a wall of water, mud and debris rampaging through Estes Park. Most businesses were damaged or destroyed and 3 campers were killed. The National Guard was called in to help with the cleanup and to prevent any possible looting. I missed the flood by about 12 hours. To this day I don't know why I impulsively left town. I had ridden out storms before in my camper. I didn't even stop to try to get a refund for the campsite.

      Oh wow! What a story! You had good intuition to get outta dodge I guess as mother nature is soooooo powerful. We get asked about severe weather a lot and we really haven't had too much. A close call over in NJ last year as the sky turned green and black with the tornado sirens blaring...... but it passed quick and didn't form.Thanks for sharing!

    I highly recommend those who think about going full time, there are several videos showing the down side of full timing. For me? I'm 70 and the cost of traveling and accommodations doesn't come close to what an RV costs not to mention the maintenance. Per square foot, class B's are the most expensive. If you plan on retiring on Social Security, realize Medical takes a good chunk of that. Me? I retired with a pension and made sure, my house was paid off before I retired.

I’m in a hiking group of 16 ladies and not all of us go at the same time but we hike every single Friday come summer fall winter spring. We love Rocky Mountain national Park however we have not been there all of this year yet. There is more hiking up the Poutre Canyon and Redfeather lake area which is very beautiful in itself. I am just starting to look at possibilities for myself and feeling comfortable driving is pushing me in the class B direction. Loved your video. We live in Boulder County - The Stanley Hotel only served as Stephen King’s inspiration for the Shining, the filming was done at The Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood, and is a much less touristy and MUCH more spectacular lodge. I’m bummed that you went to RMNP without really seeing the park. I’m up there at least 10 times a year hiking to incredible alpine lakes, beautiful meadows, peaks that get you out of the van and traffic. You’ve never been there til you leave the road and parking lots!

    I was amazed to see snow in the middle of summer......I can understand your not following directions from others however I was looking at the rear view (via your camera) and I was thinking like the gentleman- turn your wheel your too close the parked vehicle on the drivers side. But instead of backing up you pulled forward and straighten the vehicle before proceeding back again.......after your clarification I understood, it's a control trust thing, but your still sweet and cute with it. Thanks for the journey. 😊

    Good afternoon! What a great tour!! Thank you for sharing it!
    A few Stanley Hotel stories......I raced bicycles in college out of Boulder CO. One of our popular training rides out of Boulder was up to the Stanley, around their circle, and back to Boulder. (side note: I was doing that route solo one day; a pick up truck with those 1970s/80s extended side mirrors hit me in the back while on US 36 on the way up to Estes Park. Knocked me off the highway and into the grass.....and he kept on driving). Estes Park is about 7 hrs from our home in Ouray CO. We were going to go to their big Halloween Bash at the Stanley Hotel this Oct 2020...........but our parade was rained on by the virus :-(
    Very lucky that you passed through the park when you did as it was totally up in smoke this late summer :-(
    So, my dad was in the service and I attended junior high and high school down in Panama. One of my teachers had an aerial picture of Estes Park and he would always talk about it there (he was from there). I had never been west of the Mississippi River in the US. So, he was really pivotal in my decision to go to school in Boulder CO. That, and I did turn on a Monday night football game of a Bronco home game that was snowing like crazy! So...off I went to there.
    Safe travels!

      I lived in Colorado too, after discharge from Minot AFB, ND and one quarter at NDSU, Fargo, ND. Took me 9 years to escape that 'Rocky Mountain High' outta my system. Initiated residence at YMCA in Denver with follow on to a Capitol Hill pad, off E. Colfax Ave. Departed out west to Golden . . . with 3x residences, then off to CU/Boulder. Expense of pads in this college town saw my exit northeast, to Greeley, CO. Welcomed this smaller town feel except when the wind blew in from the stockyard. Smelled terrible . . . .

    "People dont really know what they are doing"... that was very mean. They are doing their bit to help someone and u got to be doing your bit in being CAREFUL. Obviously the driver cant completely depend on someone else. That shows your mindset. Thanks

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому

      Hello. No malice intended. No one knows your own vehicle like you do and they certainly don't know the height, length and width so as to know what to watch out for. Best to have your own practices and checks put in place. Thanks for watching.😀

    • @jagdishmeghnani7220
      @jagdishmeghnani7220 4 роки тому

      For the guy helping, there was no need for him to know the "height or length" of your vehicle. He was doing what is recommended Standard practice and he only had to watch the sides of your vehicle and that's what he did. So your explanation is frivolous. But as I said, this just shows the unthankful/unappreciative attitude of a person. There is no malice this side either. Thank you

    Hi enjoyed your Videos, Thanks for sharing your day to day experiences Living in the RV. How do you manage your power needs , A/C and heat? Is the solar sufficient to charge your daily needs and still have enough juice for the heater and fridge? Thanks.

    • @IreneIronTravels
      @IreneIronTravels  4 роки тому

      Hey, thanks! We just upgraded our batteries and inverter this year to 400 amps of lithium and 3000 watt inverter. ua-cam.com/video/qIANRToD-vU/v-deo.html Our solar is only 300 watts and doesn't quite cover our daily needs. We lose around 10% bat per day if we don't drive. Our heater is propane so no problems there, but AC takes a lot of juice so we use it very sparingly and use the maxx air fan more. Our fridge is DC only so that is a constant draw. We might put another 150 watts on the roof if we can make it fit and that should cover the daily needs.

      Our tires are a goodyear dura trac AT. I think they are starting to get louder with 24k on them now. We are happy with them and the tread wear so far. With the narrow dually tires there are not a lot of AT tire options that I found. No BFG KO2s available. But, we like our tires.

    Just subscribe to your channel. I have 2 questions...
    1. Can you tell me how to drive an RV class B+ (a little wider RV about 20 to 22 Ft long) going down hill? Reason why I asked was last time drove a huge U-Haul with flatbed car dolly traveling from Arizona to Alabama. one part of the road was a steep down hill and as I try my best reducing speed using the Overdrive = scared the crap out of me. Yes I know the RV I mentioned is smaller than the U-Haul, but still need to drive safer and better like a pro. Me and my wife are planning on buying that class B+ RV quite soon.
    2. I noticed that you have internet in the RV you guys are driving... How do you get it and what are you using ? Can T-Mobile cover that?

    She tends to wear the pants in a relationship. Not that is a bad thing Yes, it does take a lot to be with someone 247 in a Van. Kudos, they make it work, at least what they show. For my experience, driving a Van or bigger. Does take an experience? Not everybody can drive a Van like that or something. Bigger. People are used to driving something small and act like they could drive big vehicles. But they should take turns filming each other and talking. Not that I have seen every video they have shown. But they've seen to take terms, yes.
