A what?!
Great video! Is it just me or does Gotham look like more and more downtrodden with every reboot?
Agreed Zoe Kravitz is hot. My man.👏😁
to further help with that Spanish sin with el and la. I'm Hispanic and I make that mistake a lot. SO take that Jeremy.
Could've sworn FB was more ninja like when it comes to following someone
"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Jeremy Scott the Cynical? I thought not. It's no story his fanboys would tell you; it's a reviewer's legend. Jeremy Scott was an online critic, so woke and so pretentious that he could use the power of the parody to convince 9 million people that he was correct. He had such a knowledge of the satire that he could keep others from questioning him. But the Dark Side of the Cynic is a pathway to many conclusions some consider to be incorrect. His criticisms became so streamlined that the only thing he was afraid of was losing his relevance, which eventually of course he did. Unfortunately he showed his followers everything he knew about criticism, and then they turned it on him. It's ironic: he believed anything could be criticized, but not himself."
Definitely reading this one.
How does this comment have so few like?
God danmit just take my like!
@@Th3Birdman money talks B's walks 😂😂😂
This comment is pure gold.
"Batman is Batman, whether in or out of the suit, gadgets be damned."
I like this line.
He’s not wrong, but I mean, the gadgets _do_ help his war.
Jeremy clearly has never heard of Zur-En-Arrh
I didn't realize why he was walking so slow until the second time I saw it in IMAX. In addition to using fear as a weapon, I would argue more importantly Batman needs to be able to watch back everything from the night when he returns to the batcave. So it stands to reason he would walk slower and more deliberate so he is able to see what happened. Otherwise the footage would be unreadable even slowed down. I like to think that since this movie takes place in his second year that he went through some trial and error because he was moving too fast in the beginning.
Love the vid Birdman!!
That's also why he does the slow walk and long stare shots when he moves through crime scenes. Rewatching the movie, there are a ton of scenes where you can tell he's recording. The way he sweeps a room, stares uncomfortably long at someone or thing, etc. It's the tiny details, I love them.
@@bigcereal4382 yeah that’s what I’m saying haha. It’s a crazy added detail that just really puts more of the movie in context.
I really like that this film gave a purpose to his edge walk.
goddamn thats a nice observation
Genius for pointing that out.
"why does batman have to be the one to solve everything" except...he doesn't solve everything by himself in the movie, he gets stuff wrong or misses something important at least twice until someone else points out "the spanish is wrong" or "that murder weapon is used for carpets." When he does correctly solve something, it's when all the information is present for someone to draw the conclusion, not a sherlock holmes style "based off these few minor unconnected things, this is the only possible answer"
"Congratulations on saying something the movie itself says and then treating it as a sin of the movie."
Yeah... to be honest, Jeremy tends to do that *a lot* and sometimes, it can be infuriating. I feel you.
Also, thanks for giving this movie the balanced criticism that it deserves (wasn't that bad, come on people).
_Also also_ ... Th3Birdman is back!! (Sorry, I'm still celebrating lol)
Can't wait for all the new stuff!!
Wasn't bad, I just didn't care for it much and felt it would've been better served being split into two movies.
Wait people think it's bad? Tf? It's among the best batman movies or straight up the best.
@@MurasakiTsukimaru totally agree with you, especially on the length part. It was TOO LOOOOONG lol
@@MurasakiTsukimaru either split into 2 movies or trim it down a bit. The pacing was a bit slow because of how much was going on.
I’ll admit I didn’t finish the movie, but I do have issues. I actually hate the way Bruce Wayne looks. And I hate some of the dialogue. This feels like development that should’ve happened not in early batman years, but while he was training. The whole you aren’t my father to Alfred. Bruce’s look. It feels more like he’s teenager not someone whose out to fight crime. Whose trained years for this day.
Thank you for saying batman is batman even without money. People in holywood don't understand batman at all. It's not about his money, gadgets. It's about his sacrifice, will, character and mind. Batman is awesome because of those.
I like this movie because Robert Pattinson was awesome as the Batman along looking badass in the suit, Paul Dano was horrifying and threatening as the Riddler while being unique to his own take of the character, and Jeffrey Wright was a great commissioner Gordon, Fantastic video Th3Birdman.
And what about Colin Farrell? Oh yeah, we didn't see him in the movie.
You forgot the best part of the movie. That batmobile reveal. In theaters it was just so loud and raw. I got full on hard when I heard it. It's probably one of the best uses of sound in a theater ever.
@@dondowner8264 And thats why Colin Farrell is amazing.
I'm sorry but I couldn't think of him because he made me laugh when he said ''No habla español fellas?' which was the best Collin Ferrell moment
@@glenrichardson8266 i watched the movie and didn’t even realize it was him until I looked up the cast
I love this movie so much. It’s hilarious how people say there’s no chemistry between Batman and catwoman here. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.
What I think a lot of people miss is that Bruce is essentially a virgin at this point. The man has never needed to figure out how to interact with people and reciprocate affection. Of course he’s a little odd when dealing with a woman who’s obviously interested in him, and the fact they’re both kind of nuts probably doesn’t help either.
It's hilarious for sure
@@braydenroberts8190 A billionaire playboy being a virgin? That's some BS
@@shyguy5473 Except this Bruce hasn't developed the playboy mask yet, he's been locked up in his tower for twenty years.
@@shyguy5473 well this is more before he became the billionaire playboy persona
Believe it or not, I actually prefer this movie over The Dark Knight. While that movie is great, especially Heath Ledger, The Batman has the better Batman actor IMO, and the style and tone feels unique and fresh. I would also say it has the second most interesting story arc for Bruce, and Paul Dano is great. Can't wait for the sequel!
sounds all possible so yeah I believe you
"She's attracted to Batman for some reason" excuse me? Lmao, what kind of sin is that
jeremy: "why do they think their bullets will stop the Batman?"
also jeremy: shows a scene from later in the movie where a shotgun blast very nearly kills Batman
The villain getting caught on purpose has been a long time trope in movies. Silva from Skyfall, Loki in the first avengers (I could go on) , in all of them, villain decided to get himself caught on purpose. By Jeremy's logic Skyfall and Avengers were based on The Dark Knight as well
(..or like the Joker in The Dark Knight)
8:00 Yeah, that's literally the character arc that occurs with Bruce in the movie, and while some folks complained about only getting to see Batman and not the socialite alter-ego he uses, I didn't mind that at all, because I thought the movie was excellent in what in accomplished: providing an alternate version of events where we get to see Bruce himself coming to realize why he has to focus on BOTH sides, after having initially been reluctant to do so. And is it really that hard to believe an overachieving and obsessive workaholic like himself might at first be rigidly focused on the vigilante and not care at all about the civilian side of his life? Like I said, I really enjoyed the character journey here; that epiphany he has by the end of the film felt so satisfying as a payoff.
Not to mention the whole plot point of Thomas Wayne trying to use his money to help Gotham and it turning into a mob boss slush fund is a pretty good answer to the question of why Bruce doesn't use his wealth to help people. As long as Gotham's systems are utterly corrupt, charity money would just end up in the hands of mob bosses, dirty cops, and politicians.
@@RenaldyCalixte you mean the Telltale games
This movie is everything to me. This is the batman movie I’ve dreamed off. As a huge fan of batman with all the different media, this movie is perfection. So metaphorical and philosophical without the cinema aspect of it
Perfectly timed as all things should be
Yep, pretty good
...right on fuckin time🧐
birdman is a legend

@@InfiniteFury2K 2:52
8:12 also another thing about that criticism, I think the Nolan movies did the best job of explaining it, Bruce’s parents already tried helping the city with their wealth and influence, and look where it got them. Batman is more than just a silly way to stoke Bruce’s ego. Unlike the police and other authority figures in Gotham, Batman is incorruptible, and is much more direct than Gotham’s broken legal system.
seriously, dude, you put way more effort in the intro than cinemasins put in their videos, it’s certainly significantly more entertaining
Badass ASF intros! 👍🏾
23:19 I seen people say this before and whenever I see someone say this I'm like "This is the same dude who strapped a bomb to a man neck and had him drive into the funeral of the mayor populated by a bunch of civilians" The Riddler never cared about the civilians he only did this for revenge. Hell he tried to kill Bruce for something his father did, what was the point of Riddler sending a bomb to Bruce, he ain't do nothing wrong, he only went after Bruce bc Thomas was already dead and killing Bruce was the closest he could getting revenge.
My impression of the 'bring Falcone into the light' thing, was that he spent most of his time holed up in his club. It seemed liked the funeral was one of the few times he went out in public. The Riddler wanted him brought out so he could take the shot.
I loved this movie. It was very comic book. I loved the drama and the effects- I love the fighting and how Batman actually uses fear and his costume ends up making sense for it. But also the evolution to him understanding Batman also has to be hope for the people of a better Gotham. It felt like a good show of how Bruce will grow, and I like how they started with the Riddler and great chemistry with Catwoman.
The chemistry is TOP TIER! ❤️
"villain allows heroes to capture them" is also a very common trope outside of Batman comics, mostly because its a very simple concept
That intro is sick!!! Your unique style on each EWW CinemaSins intros is refreshing to see!
Part of me thought CinemaSins would remove a sin for how quick the logos and title came, but nope, CinemaSins was being CinemaSins not giving the movie the credit it deserved.
I don’t feel like watching the actual cinemasins video so I will just take your word for it
You see Jeremy, this is what happens when you decide to trust your gut specifically over doing actual research. There is literally a device in your pocket where you can type in a request and have an answer in under twelve seconds.
4:35 *BRUH.* Honestly, he's sinning Batman for having the maturity to acknowledge and at least somewhat come to terms with this grim reality: He can't stop every crime or save every victim, and he can't mire himself down with self-flagellation and unreasonable expectations related to that fact. Like that already seems to be sort of a classic issue Bruce has to grapple with psychologically-always feeling inadequate and reproachful and blaming himself for human limitations and fallibility. It's actually really good that Bruce is reminding himself of the harsh realities here (and it's indicated in the movie that these narrations we hear are things he's writing down in his diaries after patrol).
Does Jeremy not realize that heels and stuff act as sort of a 'uniform' for strippers. If a customer likes heels or whatever they'll be more keen to wear those heels because those heels are what bring in customers
20:18 this is exactly what happened with the Zodiac (which the riddler in this movie is heavily based off of) the zodiac would tell the news organization to show whatever message he wanted to send publicly, and they always agreed, weather because it had a cipher that would be easier to solve with the help of the public, or threats, they would display the Zodiac’s messages when he asked them to.
Holy s*** that intro was FIRE! Starting with the now-iconic bass drop, and ending with Batman's title card literally overwhelming Cinemasins', and then of course everything in between? Epic!
I can understand why people like TDK over TB, but to me The Batman is just the better actual Batman movie. TDK was majority about the villains and while that does give each of them really satisfying stories, Batman himself kinda takes a back seat. The Batman is the first live action Batman movie where it really feels like Batman is the main character. Not Bruce Wayne, not the villains, Batman. Also, this version of the Batmobile is the best and I will fight anyone on that. Not even the Arkham version beats it out and they literally ripped the introduction from Arkham Knight.
It's just a muscle car... The Tumbler is god tier, what are you on
I mean better in what way?. In terms of design no it's not better than the Arkham version imo. In terms of weaponry again the Arkham version wins. In terms of sound design though I'll give it to TB version. Overall though TB batmobile isn't nearly as advanced as the Arkham version, but that's simply because Batman in TB is just in his 2nd year and is just a street level Vigilante with not much tech. Compared to his older counterparts who have advanced armored suits and planes.
@@coritrottman9699 tumblr got nothing on this Batmobile
@@ipman127 this is literally just a muscle car with nitrous. Please tell me in what ways this one is better
with the whole "why is the car covered?" sin I just assumed that it was still being worked on, like there's a few shots of the engine being propped up on a table as if he was still working on it. Its also covered to build up its reveal scene later in the movie
I also think Bruce doesn't care about the incorrect Spanish because he was too busy focusing on what rata alada was supposed to be
Jeremy thinking the Alfred bombing scene (which, as you pointed out, subverting the audience's expectations is a cinema staple) is a sin is hilarious. They did almost the same thing in Dark Knight. Everyone, Batman included, thought Batman was going to rescue Rachel, which is the sleight of hand Nolan set up, when in fact he ended up going to where Dent was. Did Jeremy sin that? The stuff he sins really makes it seem like he doesn't actually watch or understand movies in general, at all.
My biggest regret this year is not seeing this movie in IMAX
I did. I gotta say, the movie's very dark in tone.
@@InfiniteFury2K i did see it, but it was at my local theater which doesn't have IMAX sound
6:15 I guess Jeremy doesn't believe a severed digit would bleed heavily? 😭😭😭
And the fact that you bled heavily from a location doesn't automatically mean there will be a great deal of splatter on the surrounding areas. Plus, I think I suspected when I was first watching this in the theater that maybe the Riddler had wiped off the site of the wound. Remember, the dude is a serial killer who posed and staged the body; it makes sense that maybe he tidied up as well to create the exact visual impression he wanted.
Oh, and I agree with you about the thumb drive joke. I was absolutely cracking up over it myself. 🤣👍
I cut my finger to the bone with a rotary saw, and in the 30 or so seconds it took to get to a sink, one single drop of bled fell. And the blood didn't soak through more than 5 paper towels in the 30+ minutes until I got seen at an Urgent Care.
Then again I do have poor circulation in my extremities, but still. Bleeding can be surprisingly hit or miss
An arrest is DEFINITELY possible based on a witness.
A CONVICTION would probably require more than that, but a witness testimony is absolutely enough device to bring someone in for questioning.
On Sin #34; not to be a Batman apologist but I think it’s important to recognize that in the comics, Bruce *does* use his vast wealth and resources to try and improve Gotham’s infrastructure; community programs, funding for centers for the impoverished, even a rehabilitation program for criminals. But money won’t stop Scarecrow from flooding Gotham with fear toxin, or Mr. Freeze from turning it into a frozen tundra. All I’m saying is that when Gotham is under siege by insane clowns or immortal madmen, it doesn’t need money; it needs the Batman. Only way you can look into the void without blinking is if you’re a reflection of it 😩
Thanks for standing up for the fact that glasses wearing is a thing. Due to eye issues I am physically unable to wear contacts (& it a set of issues LASIK can't touch either)
Ok not gonna lie this dude be destroying cinemasins. I’m still trying to figure out why he’s not at a million yet. Please never stop
I also think part of the reason he walks so slow and heavy is so people can hear how loud his footsteps are. That way no one notices when he’s suddenly gone
6:36 Yeahhhhh. Dude, Thomas Wayne was a physician, and Bruce is massively educated in multiple fields, and stuff related to the medical sciences is very much on a list.
*Jeremy sins Batman for being appropriately good at his job and accurately characterized.*
Actually, let's just shorten that to *Jeremy sins good/accurate characterization.*
Well deserving of the five sins. MINIMUM. 😭
24:13
TDK vs TB
TDK has the better villains by a wide margin but TB has a better Batman. Along with the vibe of Gotham and its corruption.
The best part about TDK is its villains but that is mostly it. with TB its the villains, the mystery/detective work, and the atmosphere. You feel like your watching Batman fighting crime in gotham vs watching a guy in a batsuit fight crime in Chicago or New York.
TB wins in my opinion.
Movie was awesome, sitting two rows from the front and watching the car chase scene was exceptional, you could the vibration in your chest and it felt great.
Oh my God the song at the beginning, It sounded like a mix of the Batman animated series theme and this one and it was amazing
You continue to knock it out of the park with the intros. Using the Batmobile chase was genius and this is my favourite Batman theme yet. This is why I click on your videos.
Just wanted to say that you’re doing great work Birdman. Early in my teens I noticed CinemaSins and as a movie lover, I thought it was interesting concept to point out the flaws some films may have and immediately realized it wasn’t that. So you taking the time to call out the BS has made me such a fan of yours that I get giddy when you post new videos. Again it’s great work, and I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know.
Jeremy sinning Batman for being a detective is like sinning John Wick for knowing how to shoot a gun
You’re SO QUICK WITH IT birdman, we love and appreciate your dedication to this youtube shit
I mentioned this in one of your streams, but in the Post-Crisis DCU, Riddler's last name was revealed at some point to actually be Nashton. I don't know why, but it do be like that with universes being handled by several different creative teams.
I think they changed it because there were too many villains that had names that implied their character themes
A little late to the party but I just want to point out there aren't that different creative teams. At least in Batman (didn't read the other comics so can't tell). It's still Scott Snyder as co director. They rebooted for the sake of rebooting, which I think is great because it allows them to do very daring plots without having to backtrack further down the line
23:52
While it's probably epinephrine, I like to think it could be a prototype of venom. Especially due to the green color (if I remember correctly) and rage-induced rampage it sent him into shortly after injecting it. It probably is just adrenaline, and I'll gladly admit that I'm completely wrong if substantial evidence against it appears, but until then, I'll continue to believe this
Glad to see someone thinks this
The fact that it resembles venom so much and I haven’t seen the director deny that it’s venom so I’m sure like 90% it’s actually Venom. Which sets up my idea for a sequel perfectly.
@@shazam6942 it also shows Batman nunchucks so I will hold an ounce in my heart that it may still be change to venom one day. They never called it adrenaline in the movie so it is still POSSIBLE my dreams can come true.
I don't entirely disagree with your logic, but bear with me; this Batman does not seem to have encountered Bane yet, so he would not have come across Bane's Venom. It certainly may be Batman's own concoction, but I don't necessarily think it's Venom.
Imo it’s a bait, Bane and Venom may not be featured for a another film in this universe
The Batman is honestly my favorite movie of all time. Seeing him be a detective made me so happy. And I just love everything about this movie
Dammit now I want a movie called”the Gordon”

One of the best CinemaSins Sins I’ve seen. Well done, Birdman. Keep it up!
"Why is it raining in Gotham all the time?" It was filmed in Glasgow, it rains all the time here.
0:51 this intro was amazing, so cool how it flows right into the movie title so smoothly. I know that must've taken a lot of time to do great job
I take off footwear in the house all the time and can only think of one family who doesn’t. I think it’s weird too.
Although, I did once live in a bunk house that was so occupied and dirty that wearing socks literally wasn’t an option.
The critique about the car having a cover is brain numbing. As you rightfully said, PCs gather dust - and I have a feeling that Batman's high tech rig would likely overheat, or combust if covered for extended periods of time.

I stopped watching CinemaSins a long time ago because they proved to me and I'm sure to a lot of people that what they do is not satire (if it is satire then it's terrible) and that they're not playing a character, they're nitpicking just for the sake of it.
22:04 oof....legit some of these hit hard this episode...keep spitting facts Birdman
Considering how much screen time the Batman movies and other assorted media, with this exception, put into how Bruce still tries charity through the Wayne Foundation and it still doesn't work as a criticism that has been addressed for Batman.
I agree with the rest of your video .
Yup. By day Bruce works to better Gothom through legal means, using his vast funds to create centers for mental health, give ex-cons chances at jobs with the Wayne Foundation and generally tries to better the city and raise up it's people so that nobody would ever feel the need to do crime. By night Batman defeats those who do crime anyway, saving every life he can and stopping the worst of the worst from slaughtering hundreds if not thousands like every week.
Thank you for making these videos man! I know they take up a lot of time and effort.
Can we mention that Jeremy refuses to call Annika Selina's girlfriend and keeps calling her Selina's "roommate" despite it being heavily implied they were more than just roommates?
to be fair I'd be scared of anyone who could do a perfect Batusi dance
When the world needed him most...
8:22 Exactly. Being Batman is a personal and psychological compulsion for Bruce. He can allocate funds and pour resources into anything he wants as far as the police, city infrastructure, you name it. But that doesn't change the fact that he HIMSELF has a NEED to be out there, boots on the ground, doing what he does. That's basically summed up in the opening of THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. At the beginning of that book, he's trying to play it the way these people suggest he should...but he can't help himself.
I love that the one consistent thing that birdman can always get on board with that jeremy says is sinning DC comics😂
Ah Birdman, thank-you for such an awesome video. I love your stuff, man.
It's also important to note that Alfred mentions that the Spanish was bad when he first translates it for Bruce. Even Alfred, who can speak Spanish, missed the connection.

Imagine if CinemaSins makes a new channel just to sin The Birdman
Dude you’re just pumping out content. I been so excited for this
7:25 I appreciate this, lol. With all the stuff you can step in outside (and even within public buildings) without it even being especially noticeable, you really should not want to track that back over your floors or carpet. Especially if later you're going to be sitting, lying, playing, or doing other activities on that same floor.
Heck, I have indoor-only tennis shoes, and they gather plenty of dirt just from inside the house, DESPITE plenty of vacuuming going on. With how dirty inside-only stuff still picks up, imagine how much worse it'd be if I were also tracking in stuff from outside. Yechhh.
This also reminds me of how folks fail to get that when you wear gloves and you touch a non-sterile surface with them…you're contaminating them, and while you may be protecting your own skin and such still, you're gonna be transferring microbes and/or substances back and forth between surfaces with those gloves now.
6:45 Seeing whatever evidence the police gather is very different from being able to personally walk the crime scene in more or less its original state. And IIRC it was demonstrated that Bruce was already spotting things the police hadn't noticed yet.
I can’t believe I use to watch cinemasins all the time years ago stopped watching one day and never started again
