Nice explanation, learned quite a bit. I just got the wheel and it fits without removing the wheel well. Able to store all other accessories under and around. cheers Denis
A great updated video Tom. I have to agree with others, it’s way to expensive to sell in big numbers unfortunately. $400-$500 would pull it up I think.
I note that the bolt pattern and center bore are the same as Toyota, so a spare from a Rav4 or Camry might fit OK. Need to check for clearances with brake calipers etc. Nissan, Mitzi, Hyundai, Mazda also have the same bolt pattern, 5 x 114.3, but bigger center bore, so may also bolt up OK. This could be a much cheaper option, sourced from your local wreckers, who will also have jacks.
Great video thanks Tom. I cringe at the discounted price sorry sponsor but . . . lucky there are cheaper options that will fulfil the same requirement as others have mentioned. If it was $500 I would probably order one.
Bought an emergency spare tyre and scissor jack for $80 at a car wreckers. Most Japanese models have the same rim and 18in tyres are very common, and have never been used in most cases. It is only for emergencies and to be driven at low speed, and that old spare wheel does the trick just as well as the dedicated new kit, which is costing above ten times more. A waste of resources and money...😮
Unlike the Tesla, at least this one has space to fit under-floor. Still surprised there is no info or solution as to how the spare might be secured & tied down, lest it become a 20kg missile in a collision. I'm sure there also also AU laws about this. Also of note, a similar spare is meant to be released for the facelift MG ZS EV shortly.
FYI, it is possible to use the 4 threaded screws mounted on the floor to hold the BYD styrene accessories to secure space saver using shackles and straps obtained from Bunnings.

The security of the tyre for the safety of the occupants is a valid concern. I suppose the same can be said for other 20kg sized cargo eg suitcases

@@gregpointing7228extremely good idea!
Anyone knows lug nut torque of atto 3 ?? too lazy to find out undoing them with torque 🔧
how much do they sell the byd atto 3 for
Currently in Aus, the extended range is ~$51k on the road (Jun 2023)
So, it really don't fit the hole and its tilted.
It's possible to deflate it to make fit correctly?
Certainly an option. Carry an extra compressor when needed 👍
where we can get the spare tyre
Details and link in video description
$700.00 for the kit. The jack is standard, not special. they saw an opportunity and decided to gouge it.
@@DeveloperChris How much would you pay for this kit?
EV weight more, remember old SUV have full size spare tire.
Certainly would be handy to carry a spare when driving long distance and off the beaten track
Not hard to learn how to plug a tire (US spelling, sorry folks) and cheap as chips.
Certainly an alternative option
