I bought one at auction a couple weeks ago for $25. A bit much for a 3 leaf cutting, but I wanted one. I lost one leaf right after it arrived & the other leaves are just sitting there taking their time to acclimate. I’ll grow it as a trailing plant because I prefer the immature leaf size & appearance. I have enough fenestrated plants on moss poles. Im anxious to see it grow. Thanks for the spotlight 😊
I have a siltepicana and it grows like a weed and is as easygoing as my golden pothos. Due to ease of propagation and growth, the one vine I got about 2 years ago for about $35 usd is now a huge full pot.
I bought mine for $12 usd and it was struggling, so I chopped it above the soil and stuck it in water and it's rooting really well! I keep it under a grow light and it just chills there. I have never seen it in a nursery or store in the US, so I bought local from another plant person 😊
I like your channel a lot. Its such a pleasure to listen to you when you describe the plants. Love to watch your amazing plants. Keep up your fantastic work, shearing your experiences🤗👏👍🌸
This plant is so beautiful and so easy it should be sold in every garden center beside Golden Pothos. It has also an interesting characteristic for a Monstera, two actually : it does NOT make runners, actually it grow in places were trees are scarse as a ground cover. The second is its very flexible stem. As a house plant it's very interesting, as a vining plant you change it's place easily because it wont snap. And you can swirl the vine in the pot to make more bushy plant fast.
Many thanks for this enjoyable video! All the plant care information and tips for the plant are excellent! Love your channel and the great content! Update videos are great. I saw where one of your viewers ask for a video on Micans. I have 2 of the four inch pots of Micans. They came from two different nurseries and within just a few days they showed signs of thrips. I treated them and they have recovered.nicely but they could look better, for sure. 😊. Take care! 👏🪴🥰
Thank you for another amazing video! I have a ton of siltepecana and I don't think I have any that have activated from multiple growth points on the same plant after cutting. I cut up one of my big ones and now I have 9 plants. I love them when they are immature with all the silver on their leaves.
I love monstera Siltepecana! they are great propagators! I have never had one activate more than one node but that would be awesome if they did. Can we get a video on philodendron micans if you have that plant? I can't keep that plant alive but I can keep an anthurium wendlingeri alive and thriving! I just don't know what I am doing wrong with the micans.
Sure no problem 😊 I will do, my micans seems to want to take over my house. Also if it makes you feel better my micans I have always done well with but my philodendron hederaceum (heartleaf philodendron) I can never keep happy and that is meant to be easy
@@Houseplantygoodness thank you! That does make me feel better. I’ve tried multiple times with micans and every time the leaves all fall off and it dies. I even had a water stick in it to let me know when to water it and it still died!
I bought one in a plant store yesterday, 9,99€ for a pot, young but already vining, 3 or 4 plants in it. It was the first time I saw one in a shop, so I didn't think much about it, I took the one that seemed best to me and brought it home. (edit: I live in Germany) I'm thinking about offering support to some of the vines and let some trail, so I can enjoy both juvenile and mature leaves.
Hi Memo! I don't have this one yet, could've gotten it for around 20CAD but I wasn't wowed by it either. Will definitely give it a go if I ever make a tall jungle vivarium though! About future reviews, I'd be very happy about a Hoya review of some kind, maybe Monstera adansonii if you haven't covered it yet (for some reason, I really struggle with young plants but find it really easy to care for once it's established.), I'd be curious to hear about moss (if you ever grew some) and maybe about your vivariums, what has worked for you but also for your animals. I'm pretty sure people would watch an African Violet and also Orchid reviews if you have experience with these!
Yeah definately one that is better in person, sadly photos and videos don't do it justice. Cool great suggestions for reviews, I will add those to the list. Haven't done most of those but can definately do one on them 😊
As for availability, monstera siltepecana was recently available in a chain grocery store "Biedronka" in Poland, so it might get easier to obtain. It was also relatively cheap at about 5-6€ for a plant in 12cm pot
Hi Memo, been watching you for a while and love your plant review series, which I find well structured, informative and to the point! Don't know if you have any of: m. pinnatipartita, m. Subpinata, amydrium medium silver, would appreciate review on any of those! Keep up the good work!
Sometimes you can find them in box stores. I got mine from a nursery for around 30 to 40 for a full hanging basket 😁 I thought it was a great deal since I see them being sold for 50 to 100 for 1 plant 🥴
@@Houseplantygoodness right! I was so happy when I found it! I've been seeing their price start to go up again over here. And most places I see them at are single stem plants. I definitely lucked out!
I love this video and I love Monstera siltepecana! As a climber it loves a really fuzzy moss pole to develop bigger air roots, and - surprise! - I have 8 (!) vines as a side shoots from the original stem. The reason to get this plant was my love to blueish/silvery foliage. Bright light makes it green. Mine is a fast grower, but far behind of M. adansonii. I have one slow grower - Monstera lechleriana. Do you have any thoughts about that one?
Nice video Memo. Siltepecana is one of my favorite (I feel like I'm saying that about every plant 😅) I'm curious about the situation in UK. Here in Canada, plant's prices have dropped down drastiquely in the last month. At last, those crazy- pandemic-way-too-high prices have went down. I was wondering if its the same in UK ? 🙃
I am the same 😅😅😅😅 they all seem to be my favourites 😂😂 Same here the prices have been falling steadily since the panic which is great as during lockdown they were 🤪
This is one of the thorough care videos for this plants that I've seen. For me it's been a slow-growing monstera, but this year, it has started to thrive. It seems to like being cut back in my environment. Have never seen it my local big box stores here in the U.S., but I understnd they can be found. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience.
Awww thanks, glad you enjoyed 😊 yeah I should have mentioned one of mine was similar slow to get going in the first 9 months, but then took off, hopefully yours will too soon 😊
Great video I have 2 , which I feel a bond with, They are not that available in Australia but ,still can search and found very few at an affordable price.👍 In my case very slow growers and also slow to root, but still get there. 💚🌵🌱🪴

Love this plant! Mine is trailing lovely, I haven't put on a pole because I think it looks pretty hanging and I have too many others on poles lol
I agree with you. This plant doesn’t excite me. As usual, yours looks amazing!
I have seen them in hardware and other big box stores multiple times here in the US. Thanks for the info!!

Great to hear the siltepicana is an easy going monstera 😀 I just got one this week. Thank you for the great information 👍😀
Mine regularly multi branches here in Syd/AU - love this plant!
Your in-depth information is so incredibly appreciated (and YES, please create a video about "bright indirect lighting")!
Awww thanks it really means a lot to me 💚🌿🙏 excellent will add that to the list 😊

Mine was not at a box store, i live in Pacific Northwest, and it was cheaper than some, but not super expensive. I do like it.

Of course will be doing a Calathea update soon 😊
so since ive been watching your videos... i have seen my first mealybug...lol. must be contagious
You have amazing plants. During winter months how do you care for them

Wow definately that is a great price, I still remember about a year ago here that would be the price for a single node rooted cutting 😱

Here in N.Y a really nice medium it’s normal at $16 💚

ohhh no i have not had any experience yet with the Lechleriana, i know a few people have them, is there a bit different with that and the Adensonii?
Nice video Memo. Siltepecana is one of my favorite (I feel like I'm saying that about every plant 😅)

@@Houseplantygoodness yes its really great! 😅
I paid $14 for a decent size but I'd say in general in the States you can find them fairly easily under $25
I’ve had a few. I find they are tricky to get from that rooted cutting stage to actually growing. Maybe I need to give it more light.
It takes a while, but then they take off once they start. Good luck!
I have 2 in the same pot and the leaves are tiny. Are there different ones?
Just bought this in Aldi for £5.99 including pretty pot
Hello,
Can you give me all kinds of scindupsus cutting as a gift please .I from Bangladesh . Thank you
i dont like monsteras. u look so young...
