Re the nameplate issue, the F2 had the nameplate on the finders rather than on the body; I don’t know why they made the change. It is possible to use unmetered F2 finders on the F if the nameplate is removed from one of them. I have a F2 action finder which somebody has removed the nameplate from in the past which I can use on my F. Maybe somebody has removed the nameplates from your cameras to enable them to use a F2 finder on them. Unfortunately, it is not possible to use F2 metered F2 finders on the F as they take power from a battery in the camera body.
I wonder if those missing plates might be from someone trying to delabel their camera, I'd noticed that quite a few people who did professional photography would often cover branding with tape or even scratch it off entirely. But rough handling is almost definitely the culprit looking at that brassing and other damage ha! Excellent vid by the way!
Nikon F2 prisms are compatible with the original F (to a degree) if the nameplate is removed. Maybe they were removed by someone to use the later DE-2 or DA-2 finders?
I bought My first Nikon F in 1967 and used it for most of my Career!!! Still have it!!! Z8 time now :) :) :)
The lighter fluid won't act as a lubricant, but it may serve to loosen the old grease

My Nikon F has the same problem on the mirror, do you think I can use sewing machine oil and do it in the same place you did?
