As an owner of a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid, it is definitely a bit boring and the Kia interior definitely looks way nicer (even with the 2023 tech update with the Rav). Exterior, for me I prefer the Rav4 look but that’s just me. I’d still buy the Rav4 myself but I can understand why people would pick the Sportage too. Kia just isn’t my brand, nothing against them though. Personally I don’t think you can go wrong with either the Rav or Sportage, both nice cars.
I did 4750000 k’s in my last RAV and apart from services, water pump and a few other wear and tear parts I did nothing to it. It still ran beautifully! This is the reason why I purchased a new RAV4 AWD Hybrid Cruiser last year. I’ve done 11000k’s so far and average 5.3L/100. They may not be the most high tech but they do what Toyota does and keep on going.
Hahaha my other Rav4 (2012) has been in the family since brand new and only done 128,000km. There’s a clear reason why I didn’t sell it when buying my 2022 Rav. The 2022 Rav Hybrid is sitting at 16,000km, so no I don’t drive that far and I know both of my Rav’s still have a long time left before I need to do anything big to them. It’s great to hear such positive experiences from other owners, just reassures me that mine won’t break down on me, provided I can keep maintaining them.

@@tocreatee5736 Oh wow. That is just sad. I’d be interested to hear other people’s experiences with the Kia and Hyundai Hybrids to see if they are similar or different. I think when it comes to hybrids, Toyota is king overall but there are other hybrid systems from other brands that get good fuel economy and are pretty smooth. But longevity is more of a question mark compared to Toyota hybrids, simply because Toyota hybrids have continued to be developed over time. Best of luck to your brother.
The RAV4 hybrid curves down so much at the door frame that both my spouse & I hit our heads entering the vehicle. We're not that tall, only 5' 9". We're buying the Kia Sportage Prestige Hybrid. Lots more room & the dash console screen doesn't look like they just glued a tablet on the dashboard 😂, like the rav has. Both our kids have had Kia's for over 5 yrs, no issues except having to get a wheel lock for the 2019 Soul. Other daughter loves her Niro like no other car. I want extra cargo room & we like how it sits up higher-- easier on our knees-- so the Sportage is our pick. Now I'm going to watch this vid to see what this guy thinks. Edit: the Sportage Prestige we are purchasing has AWD, so I guess that's an improvement from the car they reviewed. Great video 😁
I think the RAV4 looks better than the Kia. I think Kia are amazing these days, especially warranty, but being priced almost comparably… I would go the RAV4 for reliability, longevity, ease of parts and depreciation! A small thing, but a good example of longevity shown in the video is the tailgate speed. Slower tailgate actuators (like the RAV4) last longer due to the gearing ratio used within, creating less stress wear.
Being priced comparably, i would go for the Kia. I think it has unique looking and less boring than the Toyota. Plus, Kia has more than average with the reliability with 5+years warranty so that's not problem.

I’ve been going back and forth between these two cars for a while now and can’t decide. Love the look and feel of both, how they drove/handled on the road was great and personally like the feel of the rav4 slightly mot as it was almost “truck like” when driving it but, I’ve heard Toyotas quality has gone down hill (I know a lot of manufacturers in the us atleast have) and for the price point of rav4s everything is outdated (not a huge deal to me but is somewhat of a factor in my decision). Has the rav4 been holding up for however long you’ve had it now?

The RAV4 battery is available as a Li ion battery depending on the market and climate where it is sold. It has nothing to do with the age of the technology. Both battery types are good and bad at different things.

Toyota Australia is cheating customers on map upgrades. I bought my RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid in 2021. My average annual mileage is around 10,000 km. Given the low mileage there is no great rush on my part to do the annual service which I normally do within a month from each anniversary date. During the service I have the free map upgrade (customers are entitled for 3 map upgrades free). However on my 3rd anniversary service, Toyota refused to give me the 3rd free map upgrade. After a couple of lengthy discussions with Toyota Customer Service I was told that I am not entitled for the 3rd free map upgrade as I have gone pass the 3rd anniversary date by a few weeks. This is gross cheating. Shame on Toyota Australia.
@@clarence3037 Thanks. I do that in areas where the built map isn't complete. Otherwise I use the only available USB slot for my music stick. The issue here is Toyota Australia is not providing the number of map updates it promised.
Kia has come a long way. Kudos to them. However, for reliabilty purpose, i would pick toyota any time of the day. Yes, they are boring but very reliable. We have Kia's in our exteneded family but the amount of drama they all had to deal with is frustrating to watch. Even mechanics are like, dont get Kia next time. But i have to say, Toyota needs to get better with interior. But please get rid of touch buttons and brings back tactile buttons are knobs.
Definitely RAV4 Hybrid much better than Kia. The front of the Kia looks absolutely terrible, I will not waste my money on it. RAV4 is the clear winner in every aspect, Kia is for the pretty girls. As a man, I will go for RAV4 100%.
Shucks. Wish we could get the long wheel base Sportage here in the US. Though at that point it'd compete, eat into, the sales of the Sorrento. I do wonder? Do you get the plug-in hybrid variants in Australia?
I've worked at a car repair company for almost 30 years, and Kia's hybrid engine is 15 years behind Toyota's. If you don't ride Asian cars like Kia on flat, paved roads, parts will break. The reason why Kia used cars are not running in developing countries such as the Middle East, Africa, and South America is because the engines and parts are not durable. The way to check the quality and durability of a car is not based on the subjective opinion of an engineer, but by checking the used market. As for the interior, it's made by a European designer, so it looks more futuristic than Toyota, but if Toyota and German cars are S-class, Kia is B-class. Kia does not have an engine capable of completing the Paris-Dakar Rally. In the first place, if you are looking for good design in a car, I think you should buy one made in Italy.
I believe your level of information is behind by 10-12 years. Esp. Kia has made an incredible leap in the last 8 years perhaps. German cars are more at the dealers for costly repairs than on the road. Things are shifting.
Honestly, find the Kia rear to look really tasteful and nice. Lights are high up, and all LED. The RAV4 is decent, but the halogen bulbs are a miss, along with the LEDs looking more outdated. New RAV4 couldn't come soon enough. It is starting to lag behind and is one of the smaller choices in its class.
Yeah he said the Kia has aged but it must be personal preference because I think the Kia is significantly more modern looking than the rav 4. The Rav has the old halogen lights, the rear is blocky and aged. Kia looks almost futuristic in comparison.
These guys serm to moslky dislike Japanese cars ? Also go on and on about a tyoe of light bulb but lighly brush off no FWD? I genuinely think they have some level of bias which they may not realise. What costs a company more - two light bulbs or an AWD system?.
Why do they keep comparing a 5-6 yr old design (Rav4) to a redesigned suv (Sportage)..off course there will be features the Rav4 won’t have specially in the interior..but kudos to the Rav4..it’s still able to hold up against any competition..they should compare the Kia to the newly redesigned Crv..
Although the Toyota is dated I’d still take it over the KIA. Kia having so many engine and transmission warranty issues not to mention resale and Toyota reliability. The tech in the KIA is very impressive but then again so is it in Chinese SUV’s.
If you did any amount of research you would know that Kia’s hybrid are actually quite reliable. All of the engine/trans issues are primarily a problem in the US, almost all of the engines that Kia currently offers across their entire lineup in Australia is known for their reliability, for example the 1.25L from the Picanto, 1.0T from the Stonic, 2L from the Cerato/Seltos/Sportage, 1.6T from the Cerato GT, Seltos GT, Sportage/Sportage Hybrid and not to mention their Diesels which are incredibly reliable.

This is gross cheating. Shame on Toyota Australia.
Just use your smartphone for maps Jesus Christ.
@@clarence3037 Thanks. I do that in areas where the built map isn't complete. Otherwise I use the only available USB slot for my music stick. The issue here is Toyota Australia is not providing the number of map updates it promised.
@@veebee3969 yeah that is not good enough on Toyota’s part. Sorry to hear.
@@clarence3037you leave him alone!
Please compare to BYD Sealion 06 as well.
Definitely RAV4 Hybrid much better than Kia. The front of the Kia looks absolutely terrible, I will not waste my money on it. RAV4 is the clear winner in every aspect, Kia is for the pretty girls. As a man, I will go for RAV4 100%.
Kia won’t last compared to the Toyota.
Shucks. Wish we could get the long wheel base Sportage here in the US. Though at that point it'd compete, eat into, the sales of the Sorrento.
I do wonder? Do you get the plug-in hybrid variants in Australia?
GWM Haval H6 Hybrid? Taxis are doing 200,000km and reporting rock solid reliability.
chinese car😂
Here because I'm trying to decide if I want to keep my 2024 rav4 or trade it in for a kia
I DO notice Toyota is getting a bit careless in most aspects with their vehicles, while KIA/ Hyundai keep getting better and better!!!
I like toyota when it comes to engine but they need to do more in the interior
True, the Rav4 2,5 engine no turbo and Prius electrics are proven in the Lexus too. Which is why I bought one.😁

More direct car comparisons please! P.S Now I can watch the video :D
Rav 4 holds it’s value than Kia. More reliable, fuel efficient and drives like a dream in 4x4 sports mode.
I dont buy a car because i will sell it in better price. I buy it because it is better. And yeah. Kia is better and of course reliable as toyota
Are you going to do a vlog for your zeeker trip ?
Honestly, find the Kia rear to look really tasteful and nice. Lights are high up, and all LED. The RAV4 is decent, but the halogen bulbs are a miss, along with the LEDs looking more outdated.
New RAV4 couldn't come soon enough. It is starting to lag behind and is one of the smaller choices in its class.
Yeah he said the Kia has aged but it must be personal preference because I think the Kia is significantly more modern looking than the rav 4. The Rav has the old halogen lights, the rear is blocky and aged. Kia looks almost futuristic in comparison.
Stay away from the dark side… dum dum dum dum da dum…. 😂 Love the nerd out reference, makes you extra fun to watch!
RAV4 has timeless design but Kia not and they keep changing their design philosophy that makes used cars dated
This is true and really underrated.
If you like powerful and easy-to-handle cars, choose Kia. If you like smooth and easy cars, choose Toyota.
I think it's wireless Android auto as well.
Toyota will outlast Kia by a mile, as per Kias previous models they will start to poop there pants around 100k
Rav4 wins
The Kia looks futuristic while the Toyota is just a 2020 design.
Kia looks nice, but Toyota anyday.
Who really cares about top spec models. You should compare base spec Kia hybrid with the Toyota GXL
Actually you would be very surprised how many people opt for those luxury features. Me personally, I prefer top spec reviews
It would be worthwhile comparing the Kia Sportage Hybrid with the Diesel
2024 rav4 edge looks manly 😎
Toyota looks miles better than the Kia
I think the opposite!
Same here. The Rav is miles ahead in looks.
Love the look of the Kia.
These guys serm to moslky dislike Japanese cars ? Also go on and on about a tyoe of light bulb but lighly brush off no FWD? I genuinely think they have some level of bias which they may not realise. What costs a company more - two light bulbs or an AWD system?.
How does the rav4 compare to Subaru forester
you doing a review of he faclifted dmax ?
TOYOTA always do best 😅
Why do they keep comparing a 5-6 yr old design (Rav4) to a redesigned suv (Sportage)..off course there will be features the Rav4 won’t have specially in the interior..but kudos to the Rav4..it’s still able to hold up against any competition..they should compare the Kia to the newly redesigned Crv..
Buckle up for the ultimate SUV face-off!
kia sportage any day.
That’s incorrect Toyota have had many more recall issues than Kia or GWM or many other brands
@@Jude.usernameshow me the research please
@@wcrash9361well it’s an older engine in the Kia. And Kia, I’m sorry, has issues. Toyota recalls mean they’re fixing all known problems. Problems on a Kia.. you live with them.
@@Jude.username whatever you say about Australia, that’s just your point of view. Kia has had its fair share of issues.
As a former owner I can tell you that the Toyota would need to be an absolute shitbox to be worse than the Kia.
Dont like the styling of the Kia
Jacob don't need no orange inserts man.
Kia does 4 wheel drive
Rav 4 exterior look's mature!
I am flabbergasted how many ppl just blindly buy Toyotas … just goes to show most ppl dont care about cars.
We care about reliability and resale
@@kbling2946 lol … and Kia is not reliable? Seriously? Toyota used to be great but are now so behind design and tech its sad. Resale is noy different for these cars these days. Come on mate, year 2000 is long gone. Many more quality car brands available now.
@@Omarkoman as per my original a comment, Toyotas are dated and are behind in the tech, no question, but you can’t argue with Toyota reliability. As for KIA, they have a class action on their engines, the DCT is nothing but trouble. For god sake there is even a Facebook page dedicated to Kia and Hyundai engine failures 😂. Dong get me wrong though I love Kia’s, we actually have a new Seltos GTLine as well as a new RAV. I’m pretty sure I know what I’m talking about.
@@kbling2946 fair enough but I am sure there are tons of class actions against Toyota as well. I just dont get why people keep talking up the reliability when thats something that was from 15-20 years ago when Toyota cars were basic and did the job well so thats all ppl remember. I am sure their current cars are just as troublesome as others. Nothing wrong with DCTs, had them in Audis, VW and Kia and no issues at all. People just need to learn how to drive one.
Kia has had serious reliability issues in the past. They do look better, looks aren’t everything in a car.
review mahindra bolero / bolero camer
Shame Kia doesn’t offer AWD in Hybrid
They do in the US, I wonder why they don’t in AU
Not sure why the city dweller needs a hilux or ranger 😂
My choice is always RAV4 Hybrid
Jacobs correct. When the Sportage came out it was nice. But I gotta say when I see it now, it's design does anger me idk y
faux leather AKA Vinyl! in a 60k SUV 😅
Could we have a kei car Daihatsu Hi-jet review please 🥺
Or a Suzuki Hustler
@@wosamosman9814 couldn't agree more!!
Kia is beautiful ❤
You’re comparing a reliable and capable Toyota with a bells and whistles KIA . 😂😂😂
Kia vs Toyota. Tough call, lol.
Put Kia and Toyota in same picture?!? You have some problems at the roof?
the gear shifter in the Kia is so annoying.
Toyota is just so safe you know youre buying something that will last and have no problems. kia is great and shiny and new but like is it worth the headache?
And the KIA will get roof leak sooner in a year of use. How much that will cost.
'BETTER' NOT BEST YOU MUPPET.
Be careful driving on the wrong side of the road lol.
Why toyota cars in Canada much nicer? I mean, I knew that they are better in Japan, but why they give the worst version here in US
One is a mechanical problem and the other is your grandmas car so, no to both.
Neither.... Byd sealion 6

Made in China ? You serious?
@@gf401 yeah what's wrong with that... You buy stuff made there all the time. Would you rather I spend my money on a Ford ranger made in Thailand or something from south Africa
@@gf401 what will you say when Toyota starts using the BYD tech they just bought in their next rav4
Rav4 PRIME?
We don’t have the RAV4 Prime In Australia
The RAV4 prime sounds ideal… but it’s actually the worst of both worlds. That’s why it isn’t available in Australia!… it was pinned for the US, where they had to meet US EV sales legislation to minimise tax.
Too bad Kia has such an awful legacy of engine failures and recall hell. No thank you!
I ordered the Toyota RAV4 cruiser two wheel drive because I thought it drove so much better than the competitor I just thought that the Toyota was better in a multitude of ways and as well as resale value
Did you even drive the Kia ?
@@Whyunounderstand KIA price even expensive than a AWD RAV4 Cruiser. 2WD KIA Fuel economy bad than a AWD RAV4, and 2WD KIA with same 0-100 time with AWD RAV4, 2WD normally should with better fuel economy and 0-100 acceleration, but KIA loss both, and even loss in price more expensive than RAV4 cruiser. Pay more money for KIA is just for better interior and looking, just because KIA is newer model, but this KIA's hybird powertrain still can't beat Toyota's older one in fuel economy, power and reliability.
I have the rav edge 24 and no way I change it for any Kia card 😂😂😂
KIA Sportage
I can't understand how people are buying this RAV4 in 2024. In the rest of the world, it comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, but in Australia, Toyota is spoiling us with a small manual sunroof instead. And people are waiting 2 years for this car, which looks ugly inside. Unbelievable.
en france, le toit panoramique est une option
