I actually never had an Issue with Bryans vocals but I totally understand when people do. It seems like a lot of their other fans did at first but then grew to love them overtime. I'd definitely recommend their last EP "A Tear in the Fabric of Life". Its only about 20 mins with a cool animated film to go with it. It's an awesome journey. Slightly different mix wise and overall sound aswell. Definitely worth a go in the future.
As always, Steve, it's good to see you, and I hope you're well 8^) I came into this album as someone who straight up dislikes hardcore. This will probably be my AotY. Never even heard KL before this.
Bryan's vocals grew on me over time, and now KL is one of my favorites. It helped to latch onto one song that I really enjoyed until I was left wanting more, now I can't get enough!
I was mixed on this album for a while until I started paying attention to the lyrics and the stuff happening in the background. I was not a fan of the production when it first came out but it has grown on me. The first few listens were a bit head scratching. Focusing on the lyrics really made the album seem more focused and I really appreciated it for that reason. The vocals are probably my favorite part of the album. I also absolutely love the cymbal work on this album. The drumming in general was fantastic. The last three songs are my favorites I would say.
@@coal_91 I'm just not the biggest fan of the distortion on the guitars. I like it a lot more now but it's so scratchy and fuzzy that I have a hard time fully liking the tone. Listening to the opening of Suffocate is my prime example of the guitars sounding so overblown and fuzzy. The explosive sound of the guitars are a little too fake and digital sounding for my liking. The Upon Loss Singles did the explosion sound so much better and natural sounding. It sounds like someone is playing this 200 foot tall guitar and is blasting your door down with palm mute explosions. The new album sounds like a guy on a computer digitally adding in explosion sound effects and fizzyness to make the guitars seem heavier than they actually are. The album feels slightly overproduced for me.
Sit & Mourn is my favourite song off this album aside from all the singles which are bangers. I love the use of delay and reverb on the guitars in this song you can feel the emotion mixed in with the heavy breakdown chugs in the end. So good!
By far my favorite reaction to the album so far. Thank ya. Everything you pointed out almost is why I love this new album so much. Not Pop Culture but hey
On the subject of the other vocalists, Bryan Garris as you know is lead, Isaac Hale does guitar and the low vocals, Nicko Calderon does guitar and the more Bryan-adjacent vocals
The vocals had to grow on me too. They definitely never will be something you can just casually listen to, but then again that's exactly what Knocked Loose are going for with their music: anguish and discomfort. Great reaction as usual!
There was a moment, while performing Sit and mourn live Bryan took a guitar right before the breakdown, he just screamed MAKE SOME FUCKING NOISE and started chugging along, that was soooo wholesome
Personally it didnt hit me as much as this years Boundaries record, but i gotta admit Moss/Take me home was some of the most unique stuff ive heard in a while. For me last EP is still their best work
My second highest rated album of 2024 behind Avralize at this point. I was always so-so on Knocked Loose, but this album from start to finish is such a journey.
21:50 They were definitely a grower for me. I liked Deep in the Willow, but was still kinda meh on them. They were opening for Slipknot and seeing them live is what did it for me.
Steve! Would you PLEASE react to "Convictions" newest album?! It release within this month, I think you would absolutely ❤❤ it if you havent heard of them already please let me know (: the albums name is "The fear of god" you will not regret recording your reactions!!
This or Hyperviolence is my AOTY so far. Very different so it makes it a bit hard to choose....HOWEVER Sit & Mourn is absolutely my favorite song thus far in 2024.
Biggest problem I have with this album is that it all sounds too similar and clustered to be something I enjoy, if this was 2 eps I might have different opinions but just not for me
I can understand your take here. I imagine that more listens will help the differences between songs become more apparent. But it’s definitely got an overall consistent sound and delivery throughout.
First time hearing knocked loose, maybe except for some IG reels.. i see why you don't like their vocals. Seems monotonous to me. Dont reach for me seems to be the best so far.. Haven't finished the vid yet tho. Lol Or the calm that keeps you awake..the extension reminds me of the ending of Davidian Or the last song's outro 🖤

Tear in the Fabric of Life is my favorite thing they’ve ever done.
Seconded 🤙🏻
I loved his vocals from the start also, but I know it’s jarring to a lot of people lol
yeah it definitely grow on you, it just sound so pissed off, now i feel weird hearing hardcore with controlled lows and everything
A different shade of blue and A tear in the fabric of life are god tier albums, you need to listen to them!!
Probably their best albums.
Excellent album. Sit and mourn is a great closer
Sit and mourn really is an excellent song it’s crazy.
i saw bro at 20:22 starting to pick up change (mosh move) with his shoulders... hes learning slowly but surely
😆
As always, Steve, it's good to see you, and I hope you're well 8^)

High praise coming from not liking hardcore!

It took me so long to get into his vocals... and now here I am, obsessed with them. So purely angry.

How can you not be a fan of the production lmao. It's a big wall of sound, I can't remember the last time I heard something this heavy.

Exposure therapy steve 😂❤❤
Indeed! Haha

If you haven't already, try to listen to their 2021 EP along with the animated video. To me that is their best work as a complete album
By far my favorite reaction to the album so far. Thank ya. Everything you pointed out almost is why I love this new album so much. Not Pop
Culture but hey
Definitely the second best album of the year for me so far, beat out by Death is Little More from Boundaries as of right now.
On the subject of the other vocalists, Bryan Garris as you know is lead, Isaac Hale does guitar and the low vocals, Nicko Calderon does guitar and the more Bryan-adjacent vocals
Please listen to a tear in the fabric of life, its their best album/ep in imo

Great reaction as usual!
I casually listen to Knocked Loose all the time. They’re my go-to when I don’t know what I want to listen to 😂
Same. They definitely took some time and grew on me quickly. Love them now.
14:55 best transition 😂😂😂😂
There was a moment, while performing Sit and mourn live Bryan took a guitar right before the breakdown, he just screamed MAKE SOME FUCKING NOISE and started chugging along, that was soooo wholesome
Like you i wasnt a fan of it but this album changed my mind a bit
Personally it didnt hit me as much as this years Boundaries record, but i gotta admit Moss/Take me home was some of the most unique stuff ive heard in a while. For me last EP is still their best work
I think what really pushes Knocked Loose up for me is their lyrical content.
I need to pay more attention to those I reckon
I haven't clicked on a video this quickly before 😂
😂

Without a doubt Bryan’s vocals will grow on you. It took me awhile but now I couldn’t picture the overall sound without it. Truly unique!
I like this album just wish it was longer
Next you gotta check out the new Darko album starfire 😂
👀
Hey Steve, have you seen the drum playthrough of 'Lotus' by Avralize's drummer on the Arising Empire channel?
I have indeed! Very cool. Big fan of Bastian.
Still aoty for me!
I have some.. recommendations

I will add it to the lengthy to-do pile 👀
@@SteveOGRock haha okay bud your reactions are the best! Quality and overall, cant wait

Yeah so hard to compare such different albums for sure

Vocals are definitely an acquired taste for most
