This album is a case of “the sum is greater than its parts”. Some of the songs on their own may be slightly weaker, but when you listen to this album start to finish, they fit so well in the context of the album. It turns it into an experience, not just an album.
Ice Nine Kills is like that for me. They're my favourite band, hands down, but they've made a few filler tracks. (Not many, but some). But when those songs are sandwiched between the bangers, I start to notice things I like about them more in their own right, and end up enjoying it more than I usually would.
Personally I feel like the band excels the most when they’re working to create smaller, more explosive packages. A Tear was the perfect example of what they were fully capable of, and I’m glad to see that the Upon Loss singles and this album operate similarly - short, sweet, to the point, and cinematic This album is less than 30 minutes long, just enough to be a full experience that can be revisited often. They’ve found their sweet spot
@@lukesomerville6603 totally agree. Tear is arguably the beast heavy EP ever to be released imo. In terms of just much thought and care went into crafting every note on that whole record, the video they made for it. Literally everything was perfectly executed. This one is for sure up on that level, but I think tear is just a bit easier to digest. This album is borderline sensory overload at times lol
@@lukesomerville6603they give you just enough to keep you coming back for more😂 it’s smart business too lol good on them for releasing banger after banger
My only complaint is that i wished they held back some of the singles they released. Blinding faith, dont reach for me, and suffocate are bangers. So to me, it feels like the other tracks arent as good. Maybe my feelings will change after i listen to the album another 100 times
I agree 100% and I love knocked loose I’m rooting for them but the other tracks I felt like didn’t stand out as well and while they have some great sections in them they just don’t have enough of their own personalities as songs
I didn't like this album on my first listen. Warmed to it on the second. But the third made me think this is the best metal core album released in modern memory. Every listen since has really reinforced that. Everything from the irregular & disorienting styles of Dillinger, Norma Jean & Converge to the heavy sensibilities of everyone from the Melvin's, Gojira & Meshuggah... Even the Deftones approach to the ambient tension + the fact knocked Loose have a developed & recognizable sound of their own. Imo this is the best record to have come out in years
I'm digging it a lot more now. I guess I was expecting the new album to be like their last one, just 10-12 songs of bangers. It's different, but in a good way. It's a very fluid album. From start to finish is a journey
IMO the album release felt like a let down because it's a shorter album and we got 3 singles but the album as a whole is chefs kiss from knocked loose 🤘🤘
I watched a podcast where Bryan Garris explained the name and I think it's so sick. He hates flying and was on a plane where he was really anxious and the lady sat next to him asked how often he has to fly and he says all the time, they are speaking back and forth and he later realises she was distracting him. She said don't worry honey "you won't go before you are supposed to"
I agree with the sentiments about the heaviest/best tracks being the released singles but man Take Me Home…i became a schizophrenic vertigo psych ward patient during that track the first time. Good stuff
I listened at midnight when it dropped… I saw a comment that I loved that said this/that “intro gave me a panic attack. I love it.” Excellent start to finish. Just saw them in Detroit and can’t wait to see them in IN August 6th 👏🏻
I love how KL doing collab song. Usually many bands always give guest vocal like 30 seconds, with KL they let their guest vocals to shine and really give collab vibes
Appreciate the full album review man. Loved experiencing TMBTE last year and whilst this won't be my album of the year like that was, still good to go on that journey as a collective!
Whomever it was, in your chat, that said that guitars are supposed to be louder than the snare in the mix, has no fucking clue what they're talking about. 😂
i feel like i hear "it comes in waves" in all their songs in the lyrics. great album regardless. wonder if this is a little thing they do on purpose lol
Agree. I would have KL on my car playlist if not for the shrillness. He seems like a great guy, and no disrespect intended, but the high pitched screams just aren't my cup of tea.
@@JaketheDawg222 Bryan does a couple lows (pig squeals) on this album as well. He's done them live for a long time, but this is the first time he's done it on record.
I've asked a bunch of people about that and never got an answer yet. Can you explain what "blackened" is? Is it like saying it's got a black metal influence?

Sit & Mourn is such a fantastic outro track. I would not say no to an album with more of this eerie drawn out instrumentation feel.
who up knocking they loose right now?
I hear I hear they knocked Poppy loose.

I wish the two singles from last year were on this album
Bro I didn’t even think about that but… yeah
Tbh idk if those songs would fit the vibe of this album. They’re AMAZING tracks, but they have a different vibe to them imo
@@borissakharov3794I think they fit the vibe and theme more than slaughterhouse 2

Love how Take Me Home and The Calm That Keeps You Awake have that industrial sound that Slipknot had on their Self titled album
This album slaps so hard in the car (2005 stock subwoofers turned all the way up)
Id LOVE to hear them go black gaze. The ambiance with the heavy, his style of vocals, ugh inject it into my veins.
This band reminds me of when I first heard Converge.
This albums mix even gives me "concubine" vibes.

Love your reactions to these ! I def failed the stank face challenge multiple times l new fan to this band. Fucking love it 🔥
which one of you in the chat said "welp, time to suplex an 18 wheeler? That shit ended me 🤣😂🤣
Take Me Home is the beginning of the A Tear in the Fabric of Life Storyline
Every time I start this album, I’m reminded of what an unmitigated BANGER opener Thirst is.
I NEED more of the mf vocals at 11:24 idk if it's Bryan or a mixture of everyone but whatever tf it is the shit SLAPS

Bryan's fieses Gekeife....es ist so gemein und gut 😊❤

Never understand why people react to albums via UA-cam playlists you just lose the flow of the album and the transition between songs
I agree
I get chariot vibes
underrated bands like boundaries and Dealer kills the hype of knocked loose
Boundaries album is soooo goof! Will check out Dealer Kills
To each their own, but I cannot take this guy's voice. Talk about nails on a chalk board. I like the rest of the band.
Same. "Everything Is Quiet Now" blew me away. Just can't handle the shrieks.
Used to feel the same way.
Nowadays, I feel silly for ever having felt that way.
I try to follow the hype of Knocked Loose, but i cant stand the vocals. Not for me :(
I don't get it, because he has a normal spoken voice, and I've heard him do lower pitches, so he has that capacity. I agree.
You just have to keep listening and you'll get hooked trust me this band fuckin slaps once you get it

@@Deletirium Yeah. Basically you let chords/arpeggios ring out, creating a bunch of dissonance, which is one of the features black metal uses.
