  • There are 5 main species of Wrasse here in Cornwall. Ballan Wrasse, Cuckoo, Corkwing, Rock Cook and Goldsinney Wrasse. I challenge myself to catch all 5 species in 1 session. They are great fun to catch, no two look the same and every 1 is stunning to look at.

I do enjoy fishing for Wrasse, here is a demo of how I make my Wrasse rigs fishing from the shore. 😊👍🏻🎣

Those wrasse are absolutely stunning. If I didn't know better I'd swear they were from some exotic shore, or somewhere like the great barrier reef.

I think one of the things I enjoy most about your channel is your love of nature no matter how big or small. It is not always about catching the largest/ most dangerous fish in the ocean. The way you can draw my attention to all the little details is one of the reasons I will continue to watch. I have learned so much from you. Most of it I will never use but you have drawn me into a world that I would normally overlook. Animals that I will most likely never see in real life I now have a new appreciation for. Thank you

seriously you need to have your own national wide nature show. you are so knowledgeable and you are so very interesting to listen to, I think me being from the USA your accent is very appealing.

Anyone else love the sound when TFL is reeling in a fish, it's almost like one of those ASMR videos.

Been watching you for about a year mate, I'm a natural historian and evolutionary biologist and always had affinity for sea life, mainly invertebrates. I've learnt so much about the fish of the UK from you, you are an excellent teacher and should consider some vids with a more biological / ecological stint as you are so passionate about the marine life you see. Thanks for the content, I really look forward to your uploads!

This so peaceful to watch and listen to while I am doing my resume on the side lol. This got me looking at fishing licenses in my country since it has been something I wanted to try again after doing it twice in my lifetime (both times during my childhood) one learning from my uncle and another on vacation in a cabin near a lake.

Loved that one John, my favourite video by far. More of these challenge videos please, Id loved to see the same for gurnard or a 24hr species challenge. It highlights just what other options are out there round our coast instead of the usual ones. PS well done on the fish care side of sea fishing, I don't see enough of that.

My mum loves catching wrasse from the shore, always has. I call the Ballans "Jack Russells of the sea" for the scrap they give - like sturdy little dogs loaded with muscle and tenacity.

This one brought me back, you are so right Wrasse are probably the first sea fish we catch, was the first one I caught as a lad and as a lad I was always scared of them, but they are beautiful fish, fantastic colours and always give a great fight, and good tip about the beads on the rig.
