Lobstergram for Mr. Mongo... Lobstergram for Mr. Mongo! Sorry, had to say it with a modified quote from Blazing Saddles. Terrific job John! I'm still waiting to meet up with you when you fly across the pond. We're hitting the South Fork of the Shenandoah River in Virginia this weekend and expect to do very well in the fishing department I might add. I'll keep canoes on standby reservation for you and the family too!
John, Good man! Thanks for returning them. I worked on lobster boats here in Maine, USA. It is illegal here to keep lobsters under 3 1/4 inches or over 5 inches carapace length. We also "V" notch breeders. Allowing the large ones to live keeps those good genes in the population. Sustainability is very important. Maybe you might lobby your politicians to pass a law setting a maximum legal limit there also. It's good stewardship of the resource. Lobster men here traditionally followed those rules before they were made law. So, we catch lobsters that big fairly often. We had a public aquarium here that had one that was probably 4 times their size. It was so big, I didn't believe it was real until it moved.
Heads up when double uploading the same video. It is UA-cam algorithm death sentence. Still a great and educational video though. I hope this video is safe from UA-cams automation.
John - Well done on a personal lobster best pair catch. I recommend that you make sure you have that spot tagged and let it lay fallow for a bit. Not only for ethical fishing reasons so you don't deplete any other large ones in the vicinity, but with your recent spate of lurkers, including the red boat stalker, you should not use this position because it seems obvious to me that someone is watching your videos and will attempt to 'check your pots for you' in the future. Great job and stay stealthy!
Imagine that simple V notch John has given to those GIGANTICLY HUGE lobsters, protected them for another 20 YEARS!!!!! 20!!!! I mean my god what a legend! Seriously a Legend you are John! Like he mentioned those breeding pairs by that time would've made at least an extra 20,000 Beautiful Lobsterlings and the cycle of life keeps going!!!! Massive massive thank you john for keeping them amazing creatures thriving and teaching the UK Foraging/Fishing community the ethics and morality of fishing/foraging and also to the WORLD!

I used to be a deep sea fisherman some years back but it is always nice to see someone giving back to the environment in the name of sustainability and conservation. I am now a fly fisher and unless I decide to keep a trout for the pot, they always go back in the river. It is even better that you teach your son the importance of that, that was nice to see.
Great job John, they were the biggest I’ve ever seen. I’m so pleased you did what you did. Hope they have many kids together. What wonderful specimens. The way you observe and teach your wonderful son, rules and ethics concerning sea life is heartwarming. I hope there are more like you which will keep the oceans teaming with life for years. Thank you. A great watch, glad to have subscribed.
I understand that some people will not agree with the way I do things, but this world will one day belong to James and his generation. I for one want there to be something worth handing over when that time comes. 😊🦞
It simply seemed the right thing to do, and a valuable lesson for our son. They had lived through far too much and were far too valuable to the breeding stock to reach their end at my hands. 😊🦞
Brilliant John they looked bigger than the one you gave to the aquarium I like the way you are teaching James the value of conservation well done tight lines
I almost fell out of my chair when John said it was morally wrong to take the monster lobsters! I already had his father in law cooking a feast for the whole family! Lol
Many of us dont know the sea ethics, so your act of returning these massive beautiful lobsters back to the sea was education and an example for many to follow. Love your channel and have learned so much from you!
John, This Ausi is so impressed that you caught such big Lobsters, but more impressed with the fact that you are letting them free together, such a beautiful couple.
Congratulations on catching those prehistoric beasts. Incredible. Would love to know how old and how strong they are, I do wonder about the crushing power of the claws. They seem so relaxed and calm outside of water it’s hard to imagine their true power. Absolutely stunning animals, really enjoyed that. Well done John.
I've had a few 12lb plus lobsters over the years and all went back alive they are not good to eat, well done for putting them back but i knew you would anyway, much respect.
You know they're gonna be monsters when John is just laughing like a kid in a candy shop.. 😂 so glad you sent them back to carry on! It would almost be tragic to take them for your dinner.
Thank you for putting them back. It's soo important because those lobsters that have survived many years and are true breeders to restock for future harvesting.
Hi John This is only your second video I've viewed and want to say it was great of you to return those huge lobsters. A fantastic gesture and as you said the right thing to do. Well done.

The sheer GLEE on your face at your AMAZING haul. I'm so happy for you that you got that wonderful experience, and thank you for your generosity in sharing it with us. A real example for us all.
That was so amazing to see those 2 enormous lobsters. Someone would pay good money to have them as a gourmet dinner but you kindly put them back. What a conservationist! Kudos to you!!!
I stumbled onto your videos and I am so glad I did. I am now a subscriber and as a Yank across the pond, want to see more! Truly impressed by the care and thought, as well as your candid and simple explanations you made about your catch. I taught my kids the lessons you're passing on to your son. Now I have grandchildren that get those life lessons as well. Thank you, sir!
Thank you very much for returning those two monster adults back to the sea. Your effort of keeping them as part of the breeding population will benefit, you, other fishers as well as the lobster stock itself.
When James or any of his friends chance there arm at harvesting the sea there success or failure will have depended on deeds like this and the good ethics you share. Hopefully this will be an example for others to follow. Especially for those Fathers who would like to see there family's prosper and to ensure there way of life is preserved for future generations. With more hungry mouths to feed in an ever shrinking world conservation has never been so important. You did us all a service today. Thanks :)

Your videos feel like we're listening to a buddy we have that loves fishing, or for a dad that's teachin' his youngin' the ropes... you have something special here, John. Every time I make a video, I equally feel as if you are here with me, and these comments help me feel like I have you all there too. Thanks for watching Amarillo, and I hope you’ll come along for the next one. 😉
When they're that old and clearly a breeding pair it is hard to be the hand of fate that ends their lives. Kudos! It's still a great catch and memory that will last a lifetime. You may have single-handedly allowed millions of baby lobsters to repopulate your fishing grounds that might have not otherwise. Here in Maine I've seen some skippers donate gargantuan lobsters to Aquariums, but, releasing it back into it's environment is so much better. Thanks again for posting these vids.
I agree entirely Gregory. They have lived far too long for their journeys to end with me. I just had to return them. Take care and have a wonderful day. 👍🏻🦞
Amazing video and amazing luck, those moments hardly ever happen, the right place at the right time, fair play for retuning those beasts.. They certainly deserve to live
Absolute top man John !! Marvellous to see such creatures returned. And amazing to think how they avoid capture for such long periods !! All the best 👍👍
You didn't let us down!! You're unadulterated, genuine excitement and shock, summed it all up, was thinking, god I wish young James could have seen them and low and behold, you included that too, sooty mate, I'm just stating facts here, still can't say how brilliant the video was!!
Just love how your first thought after landing those dinosaurs, it was to incorporate your boy in your catch, Brilliant. Its a memory that he should hold in his mind for ever and a day. I want to thank you for making memories not only for James, but for everyone who watches your channel . Also John, for releasing them, it would be criminal to have them on a slab. You morally did the right thing ..
I thought that too, I am not terribly familiar with John's family only knowing them as Mrs locker and Jnr Locker so when he mentioned needing to show James I thought he must be some environmental wildlife guy that he wants to show who keeps track of specimens hah!
The whole time im saying put them back. They are together. When you said you were putting them back made me realise why i like this channel so much. Well done mate!
When it’s big bass or lobs when we know how old they are how many winters and predators they have survived out there it’s only right to send them back. The older I get the less preditory I think I have become you set a fab example and I think your vids will educate so many people into doing the right thing 😁 👍
Great to see that there are still lobsters of that age and size still about in UK waters. 🤩 As a boy growing up in Devon and Cornwall I used to see a lot of large lobsters landed by fisherman. But nowadays most seem much smaller and the closer to the legal limit. You definitely did the right thing 👏, and hopefully those monsters will produce thousands more offspring 🤞
I agree: Nathan Hendry Putting them back is a wonderful thing for you to do. Well done! Respect! Fish Locker you are a great human being and the way you go about preserving and the world need more of your kind. Kind regards from New Zealand.

You just earned another subscriber from down under. I think I had as big a smile as you, just by watching. Thank you son.😉
Thank you David and welcome to our channel 😊🦞🦞
'Arm gonna afta get me life in order'. You're an inspiration mate.
Haha. Just doing what I can to help Dave. Even if all that is is by providing a positive distraction for folks. 😊
@@TheFishLocker Just keep on doing it mate. You're making my life better and that's no mean feat.
You're a great man , John. A true conservationist. What a privilege to see them. Beautiful. 👍
I am an ex-commercial license Fisherman the greatest respect you for returning them they probably got the best part of 150 years between them
It simply seemed the right thing to do, and a valuable lesson for our son. They had lived through far too much and were far too valuable to the breeding stock to reach their end at my hands. 😊🦞
What a class act you are John, I wish more people were like you. Take care buddy.
Thank you Dale, best wishes mate. 😊🦞
Brilliant John they looked bigger than the one you gave to the aquarium I like the way you are teaching James the value of conservation well done tight lines
They were huge weren’t they. 😊
You're a good man! And a real good man for putting those big one's back. You know your stuff!
I was simply doing what I felt was right. 😊🦞
We shared your excitement, John……fantastic viewing! Thanks.
Could you tell I was excited? 🤣
I almost fell out of my chair when John said it was morally wrong to take the monster lobsters! I already had his father in law cooking a feast for the whole family! Lol
Haha.
Many of us dont know the sea ethics, so your act of returning these massive beautiful lobsters back to the sea was education and an example for many to follow.
Love your channel and have learned so much from you!
Thank you Sam and it is wonderful to hear that you are finding the videos informative. Take care. 😊
BEST VIDEO Ever...
Thanks for releasing...
Best wishes from Hamburg / Germany ❤
Simply doing what we felt was right. 😊🦞
John, This Ausi is so impressed that you caught such big Lobsters, but more impressed with the fact that you are letting them free together, such a beautiful couple.
Thanks Alexander, they were definitely an impressive size! 😂
Haha. There was no hiding my excitement with those two was there. 🤣🦞🦞
Thank you for putting them back. It's soo important because those lobsters that have survived many years and are true breeders to restock for future harvesting.
I agree Randolph. Best wishes to you sir and welcome to our channel. 😊🦞
Hi John
This is only your second video I've viewed and want to say it was great of you to return those huge lobsters.
A fantastic gesture and as you said the right thing to do. Well done.
Simply doing what I felt was right Ian. Take care and welcome to the channel. 😊🦞🦞
"Morally couldn't." Words we don't hear anymore. Excellent.
Some people may not agree with that sentiment. But I feel these are lessons a father should teach his children. 😊🦞
The enthusiasm of seeing those giants and then letting them go! Wonderful to see. Great video!
Haha. There was no hiding that reaction was there. 🤣🦞🦞
WOW!! The catch of a lifetime! Well done Jonh. Brilliant! How old must they be? Is your bucket big enough?
After speaking to a a marine biologist friend he believes they would have easily been 60 years old
@@TheFishLocker WOW! That amazing. Hope they live for many more years thanks to your v notches.
Just wow 👏 so glad you v notched them 👏
@@TheFishLocker I believe it, those were enormous! Thank you for doing the moral thing and releasing them!
Each time I watch I wait for James to say stunning. His unique way of English is so special.
Haha. He is a little star isn't he. 😊🦞
Best fisherman on UA-cam, my respect for the way you treat all your catches with love, awesome viewing and many thanks John
Thank you so much Georgina and have a wonderful day. 😊
2 absolutely phenomenal lobsters! And well done for putting them back! For some reason, as soon as I saw you pull them out of the pot, I just knew they were going to go back. Bravo! Utmost respect for you!
Just doing what I thought was the right thing to do. 😉🦞👍🏻
Well done John I just knew straight away you wouldn’t keep them, I’d have done the same.
They had to go back didn't they. 🦞
Another pb JL 👍
John what can I say.. I never comment on UA-cam videos but this deserved one. Love to see your respect and appreciation for the things you catch. Well done, nice job!
Thank you. 😊👍🏻
Absolutely amazing your a great guy John and a great example of hour we should protect and not deplete our wildlife. ❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
I loved the way you looked like a kid in a sweet shop, well done on the return, I knew straight away you wouldn't keep them, hopefully the next person who catches them has the same principles as you ,keep up the good work, love to you all
We can only hope that others share our morals and care for the ocean as we do. 😊👍🏻🦞
What a fantastic couple of lobsters for you, so pleased. Nicely done, notching and released. Hats off to you John. Thanks
My pleasure mate. 😊🦞
The sheer GLEE on your face at your AMAZING haul. I'm so happy for you that you got that wonderful experience, and thank you for your generosity in sharing it with us. A real example for us all.
Any time Tahirih, I love what I do and I sure was full of joy! I’m glad you were able to get the same thrill by watching the video! 🥰
That was so amazing to see those 2 enormous lobsters. Someone would pay good money to have them as a gourmet dinner but you kindly put them back. What a conservationist! Kudos to you!!!
Thank you Liz, some things are worth more than money. 😊
Thank you Ken and welcome. I may not get everything right but I do my best and I make content the same way I try to live my life. Simple and honest. 😊
Much respect to you for the conservation of these stunning animals.
Thank you very much for returning those two monster adults back to the sea. Your effort of keeping them as part of the breeding population will benefit, you, other fishers as well as the lobster stock itself.
I am glad that you agree with our sentiments. 😊🦞
Jonh honestly you've made my Xmas with this one beautiful video. What character, what integrity, what an inspiration you are for foragers .just wow!
Total respect to you John you are one in a million.
Just doing what I felt was right Stu. Take care mate and stay safe. 😊🦞
You’re a very rare and good human for putting those back. Bravo sir 👍🏻
Just trying to show our son a good example to follow in life. 😊🦞
@@TheFishLocker well you’re doing it right mate 👍🏻
When James or any of his friends chance there arm at harvesting the sea there success or failure will have depended on deeds like this and the good ethics you share.
Hopefully this will be an example for others to follow.
Especially for those Fathers who would like to see there family's prosper and to ensure there way of life is preserved for future generations.
With more hungry mouths to feed in an ever shrinking world conservation has never been so important.
You did us all a service today.
Thanks :)
Well done for returning those specimen Lobsters. A great example to James and to us all.
My pleasure mate. Just doing what I thought was right. 😊👍🏻
Wow I'm so impressed! Thank you for returning those awesome creations to their home....you are amazing!!

Honored to find this channel, amazing to see how it has grown, and its due to things like this. Well done mate.
Thank you very much, I am glad that you have enjoyed joining us on our journey. 😊
Major gratitude for putting those magnificent creatures back! I've just found/subscribed and can't wait to see all the rest of your videos.
Thank you and welcome to our channel. I was simply doing what I felt was right. 😊🦞
OMG,they were absolute dinosaurs. Fantastic that you put them both back, you set a fantastic example to everyone who watches you, and your face was an absolute picture when you saw them 👍
Haha. No hiding that excitement was there. lol.
Do you know what makes your content so special? It's the way your videos make people feel as if they're a part of it, it never feels like just another video, it always feels like "where are we off to next?". Your passion for what you do is clear. Your videos feel like we're listening to a buddy we have that loves fishing, or for a dad that's teachin' his youngin' the ropes... you have something special here, John. You and the family keep yourselves safe, and take care.
I am glad you share our feelings on the matter. These 2 monsters definitely deserved to continue living and breeding. 😊🦞🦞
Absolute top man John !! Marvellous to see such creatures returned. And amazing to think how they avoid capture for such long periods !! All the best 👍👍
Crazy isn't it. They had lived through far too much to meet their end at my hands. 😊🦞
What a great video, I am so happy that you released those old beauties, you are a fine example of a human being to everyone else!
Thank you Nick, I was simply doing what I felt was right. 😊🦞🦀
Been waiting for this one ever since you dropped a teaser in the live!!
😬
You didn't let us down!! You're unadulterated, genuine excitement and shock, summed it all up, was thinking, god I wish young James could have seen them and low and behold, you included that too, sooty mate, I'm just stating facts here, still can't say how brilliant the video was!!
That should have said "sorry mate" not sooty!!!
Thank you Kit, I am glad that you share our way of thinking. 😊👍🏻🦞
I thought that too, I am not terribly familiar with John's family only knowing them as Mrs locker and Jnr Locker so when he mentioned needing to show James I thought he must be some environmental wildlife guy that he wants to show who keeps track of specimens hah!
@@growinsane9123 - Haha. No James is far more important than some environmental guy. 😉
10:40 Bloody hell, they are absolutely humongous!
I love you!! I'm so glad you put them back! Clearly a pair. Clearly older than us. Mad respect mate!!
My pleasure mate. 😊
The whole time im saying put them back. They are together. When you said you were putting them back made me realise why i like this channel so much. Well done mate!
Just doing what I felt was right.😊
We were fishing off the Quay the evening you filmed this, we were hoping you would come over and say hello. Monster lobsters!!
We did see you, it was getting late by the time we got in so needed to get James back to home. 🦞😊
We were gonna come over but didn't want to interupt you filming. One day we'll meet, we could do with some tips, we can't even catch a cold!
As a boy growing up in Devon and Cornwall I used to see a lot of large lobsters landed by fisherman.
But nowadays most seem much smaller and the closer to the legal limit.
You definitely did the right thing 👏, and hopefully those monsters will produce thousands more offspring 🤞
Thank you, yes I felt it was the right thing to do. 😊
I agree: Nathan Hendry
Putting them back is a wonderful thing for you to do. Well done! Respect!
Fish Locker you are a great human being and the way you go about preserving and the world need more of your kind. Kind regards from New Zealand.
Wow New Zealand is a wonderful place, I’m so happy my content managed to reach you and that you enjoyed the video, putting them back is the least I can do. Conservation is always the top priority for me. 👍👍
😂 I imagine them 🦀s going Weeee! when you throw them back in. Great video as always 🙌🏻
The splash would be huge!!! 🤣🤣
@@TheFishLocker absolutely cracking lobsters 🦞 good eatin’! I was excited as you were when you showed them 😲 You conservation it amazing though, don’t know many that would’ve thrown them back js
@@Skarytrigger every time he throws back a crab and starfish. My mind automatically goes Weeeee splash😂😁😀
@@nicolenelourens565 😂😂😂 yeah
In my mind it's am I going to get t to the bottom before something comes along and eats me.
Those 2 are absolutely massive, holy hell. When you did the side by side comparison to a regular keeper and you could see the difference...insane. I feel the same as you though that you cannot possibly keep them. It would be nearly a crime to keep two lobsters that have made it to that size. Cannot imagine the excitement of bringing those aboard.
I am glad that you share my views on this Nick. Take care my friend. 😊
