I read along time ago, “Gardeners live in beautiful places, because they create it.” Which tells us that everyone can create their charmed life. Thank you for showing us how.
What you're saying about it being intentional is so true. I spend so much time & energy decorating our home and working on our garden but I do it for me. My husband and occasional guest enjoy my efforts but I love the home that I've created. And my garden is so improving with your influence. Thank you!
Ohhhhhh girlfriend! I’m glad you showed the cottage at night! Everything is stunning and the entire look changes with the lantern light. Gorgeous! Be blessed!
Your life, that lovely thing,it wasn’t handed to you on a silver platter. You and Hubbs worked hard for it,you earned it,you,by way of that, won it. It is one of the many reasons that I admire you so very much🥰
We all see the grass greener on the other side when we chase the elusive butterflies but "Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home" and that is the quality of a grateful heart. 💛💙🧡
Thank you, Linda! I enjoy what you are saying, Linda. Being in my garden, with the bugs and constantly growing grass, er weeds, and flowers, I am happier (especially after long Covid is ravaging my energy). I, too, enjoy being a block from food, shopping and coffee, but when I am in my garden, I regain my strength and energy. Sharing this lovely quote from Minnie: "When the world wearies and society fails to satisfy, there is always the garden." -- Minnie Aumonier
I've driven cross country with my daughter twice (please, God, not again anytime soon!) when her job required her to live in California and then in DC. Both times, by the time we reached the coast, we only had 2-3 days before she had to begin work. We thrifted and used Facebook Marketplace to outfit each apartment. By the end of day 3, she had furniture, plants in pots, pictures on the walls and plans to fill in the missing pieces on her own. When the time came to move again, she sold most everything on Facebook Marketplace. It was a super fun experience and we felt good about buying used for almost everything. Good luck, Leah!
Seeing you sitting on those steps reminds me of my childhood where I would go out on my front porch steps and watch the traffic go by and later on when my then boyfriend (now my husband) would be expected and I’d be looking for him to arrive. Just love your place and your steps!
We have a choice in how we view life! I used to be such a Negative person. And I was very unhappy. Then I learned about gratitude. And it changed my life drastically for the better and many years after I am still very happy. I control the kinds of people I let in my life, if they bring negativity, I don't remain friends or I avoid them. I have many good friends now and we support each other in many ways. I started a gratitude Journal and sometimes it was very difficult to find something I can be grateful for in the state my mind was in at the time. But it got easier and easier each day and now I tell God how grateful I am for the the many blessings He gives me!!! The choice is always ours!
Love your message, it is important to look for the positive in our lives, be grateful and voice your joy in life. Our media promotes negative and fear to the point of creating panic. We all have so much to be grateful for. Enjoy life Like I enjoy your videos.
Those lanterns were so pretty when they lit up😀. I really enjoy Stewart and Leah adding such great comments to the videos; aren’t you lucky to have those two in your life. As always, I love your videos and content.
So well said, friend!! Life is what you make it, for the most part… it’s true some may have more obstacles than others ( but we all have them to some degree?)but basically WE create our reality and happiness is a choice. Sometimes it takes work but it’s always a choice. Preach on, Sister!!😂♥️
Things we get from others are the best!! At 68, some of my favorite things came from family or friends that are no longer with me, and yet, they are, every time I see or touch, something that was gifted to me by special people in my life, and are treasures that can’t be replaced. And, the feelings that they bring are the greatest blessings. And so, I like to gift people with things that may have meaning for them, so that when I am gone, hopefully, I will be remembered with fondness, when they see it or use it.
So much of what you are referencing is gratitude. It’s what can soothe one’s soul. And you MUST read the Mitford books!!!! They are charming, hilarious, touching and wonderful. I reread them all when the world we live in gets me down. Great lessons in those little books. Happy summer!😊
Totally enamored! You look beautiful and the gardens with all of the white plants look sooooo beautiful at dusk with all of the lanterns…. Really so gorgeous!!!
Love your videos. I get so much inspiration for our landscaping that we are planning for our new build house. Side note. Couple in video were very suspicious. Hope you have video surveillance on your home.
Loved your talk about consumerism, we all need to be more attuned to this issue. Most of us (myself included) have more things than we need. I do practice all your thoughts. We lost everything in a fire almost 5 years ago, it was very eye opening as to what is important and really needed and enjoyed. Thank you for this video.
I love your positivity and your message. It is an important reminder that we can all create a wonderful life around us. I am a gardener too and I live in a very busy summertime resort (Sag Harbor) . A lot of people I know just complain about the summer traffic and the summer people etc. But people forget that the money that pours in here in the summer drives the economy. I do find that I hide in my garden a lot as it is my paradise. But I try and step back and create a life I enjoy and appreciate life so much and don’t need to be out in the crowds of summer.
Oh, Linda, you MUST make time to read/listen to the Mitford series! I’ve read it multiple times and it always lifts my spirits, calms my soul and encourages me live a joyful life through all kinds of circumstances. You definitely won’t regret the time spent! It’s wonderful!
I believe gardeners are some of the happiest people because they do create their own beautiful life. It is a joy to garden and share the results with others. I smile when I hear Stewart in the background chuckling when Linda talks about something....he does indeed add to the show although we do not see him. I have lanterns on my porches, patios and garden walkways. They are on timers....I will definitely be checking out those solar candles. I do not use real flame candles outside as I live on the edge of a woodland in the country. I love thrifting for furniture, dishes, books, art and the list goes on..........I love antiquing also as I find high quality pieces for less than in the shops. Enjoyed seeing your lanterns lite at dusk. Nothing like candle light.
What great video today! I agree with all that you said about creating a charmed life. I just love our home that I have decorated and our garden that both my hub and I are creating. We are very grateful for learning thrifting a few years ago, it is so much fun and is so sensible. Thanks Linda for all that I learn from you and your charming words. And you looked lovely in your summer dress today.
I love your positive attitude and energy. Recently became an empty nester and was worried that I wouldn’t know how to pass my time. My garden is my centering space. You look so pretty!
Linda, Thank you so very much for beautifully displaying our precious American flag. Not enough people fly our flag. I’m so glad you do and so perhaps reminding others to fly theirs, too.
This is why I love you Linda, your lesson of the day is engaging with others whilst being very appreciative. God Bless you and I love your garden, best move with your new house you seem so relaxed now. From sunshine coast oz ❤
I’ve learned so much from you over the years. I loved this chit chat! I hope you love the Mitford books…so charming. My brother and I have long called each other Sherlock and Watson. We love thinking we live in our own fairytale world.
I understand and support what you are saying. I walk every morning with many of my neighbors. We say good morning, walk a bit with each other when it suits our fancy, catch up, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. I head to my garden following my walk. Such a great way to start my day!
4/4/2024 Panama City, Florida. I'll be 70 in three months and I don't take anything for granted. I really feel so blessed. This year I've placed a bunch of fruit trees in their pots all over my front yard. I'm trying to create a fruit garden. i also created a flower garden where I had a vegetable garden in front of my house. so far so good. my mulberry tree is loaded with mulberries, my pink grapefruit dwarf lots of small fruit so far , my plumb tr is a dwarf too apparently has so many plumbs on it, there's just too many to keep up with. The apple tree i bought a couple of months ago has quite a few little apples so far. i have two acres of land and hurricane Michael took so many of my trees, so I figured I would just replace them with trees that will feed me. I watch you quite often. You help me so very much with all your tips on gardening. Thank you Linda. Beverlee
Profoundly and beautifully stated and I completely agree. Thankful for the gift of each day and the opportunity to try to smile and show a kindness wherever I can as I go about! Love Ya Linda and look forward daily to your videos!❤🌺🌸🌺
Absolutely LOVED this video. Linda, you will never know how much your videos have inspired me. Thank you. (and thank you for the outfit of the day 😊) ❤
I am insane with outdoor lighting. I have individual path lights along my garden borders, as well as small, color changing solar powered lights dotted in two of my small accent trees. I love them! I also have a string of lights in my corner pine garden. It’s absolutely magical!
After watching this video I purchased a set of the lanterns you mentioned and hung them on the two arbors in my back yard. I love them! (even my husband commented positively) Thank you for the tip.
Leah: Love your netted stockings! Linda: Thank you for the reminder about “Intentional Living” it really is stress relieving. Another great video Stewart.
Linda. I really enjoy watching you and Stewart. So much fun to see your garden. It is so beautiful! Very lovely. Your garden is so wonderful!! It is so exciting to see how everything is growing. Very nice. Thank you for sharing!!
Loved the video. Love how you give helpful tips, wise words and advice. Leah is lucky to have you as a mentor friend and boss. I love how you create this magical world as you mentioned and teach us how to do the same. I wish I grew up with that magical positivity that would help me to find joy and beauty in the ordinary but not too late. I have you as my virtual mentor and I can’t thank you enough. Thank you
1st of all, I always love your outfits. The shot from down on the sidewalk of all of the front landscaping is so beautiful. I have solar lights along the pathways, solar lanterns ,and a patio umbrella with solar lights. I love yours on the shepherd hooks on the side of the house. Everything looks so pretty lit up and the house is coming along beautifully! p.s. I also love the string lights people hang outside but they don't work for my house.
Yes life looks so easy and charming....but, it sure takes WORK! In order to realize this charm, a person has gone through some unhappy and stressful bad times to appreciate the good. Thanks for all the delightful videos and thoughts , they bring us such comfort and delight.
My lanterns in the night are both solar hanging lanterns and patio lights that turn on automatically at dusk. Gardening is my therapy! I love watching your channel and getting tips and tricks. I'm working on my own signature style. I'm in a zone 5 A, in southeastern Idaho.
Wow! You're comments about your "charming life" made me stop and think about my many blessings; living near a very charming small town in north central GA has given us a beautiful lifestyle.... gardening, family and friends close by, time (as retirees) to watch the wildlife all around us as they enjoy my gardening efforts. Thank you for reminding so many of us that we are so wonderfully blessed!
Great conversation, Linda. I share much of your mindset on thrifting, or not thrifting... But being intentional. And yes, creating your own charmed Life. Taking what you have and making it special.
Really like the lanterns. I keep electric candles in the windows year-round, which also helps illuminate the window boxes. Makes me feel like we're living in a B&B.
I love all my antiques that’s I’ve picked at yard sales or thrift stores. Some came from friends you have passed on. They all have a story and I love that. In my garden I’m always propagating new plants and when I do a clean up, I have a spot in the front garden where people can take a plant or some cutting for their garden . I’ve found my cutest clothes at thrift store. Happy Gardening
Linda, Your front yard has grown in so beautifully! Your design has been my inspiration for all that I planted in my yard, which was a blank slate when we bought our house, and I get compliments on my design and garden all the time. Of course, I tell them about you and give you all the credit. So with your help, I have designed and created a charming life of my own! Thank you for doing what you do! ❤️❤️❤️
Linda & Stewart, loved this long video and LOVE the lanterns....so romantic and classy. They will be lovely in the winter time seasons. I just love your sidewalk the way it turned out! Thank you guys for sharing so much with us today. Awesome job !!!!
So true how the garden enhances our lives. The physical movement and “work” that we are able to put in to our gardening helps keep both our bodies and minds healthier No need for shortcuts - enjoy the time and energy well spent!!!!
So much packed into this video. When you spoke about the charmed life it made me think about gratitude, living in the moment, enjoying all the wonderful little things that happen everyday and positive attitudes. I've known people dealing with horrible tragedies that are still able to practice these principles and live a life worth living. I have bronze vintage solar lanterns hanging from trees and hooks in my backyard. Love them and how reliable they are. Love watching them come on from inside on a winter night. Also use solar pathway lamps in the frontyard. Enjoyed your conversation about aquisition and totally agree. Used to be negative about Amazon but have discovered how many things I purchase from small businesses, especially plants. Also, perfect for when you have a specific problem .
Loved the discussion about how to approach consumption. Accumulated stuff can feel burdensome when it’s time to downsize. I feel satisfaction when I drop off a load at Good Will.
Great subject! I love lighting my front and back yard! I repurposed a new birdhouse, gluing and grouting rocks to make it look like a gnome home. Then I glued gnome figures on the front porch and added solar fairy lights inside. To weather proof it I applied several coats of high gloss varnish. Then I placed it by my pond.
❤Good point.😊I am also very grateful for my lovely life and that of family members. I downsized and am giving away all I can to a, Buy Nothing (free) store, set up at a nonprofit. They open it once a month. We don't want to toss out anything nice that others can use.👍
I have had these same solar lanterns that you just installed on shepherd's hooks. They are on my patio and at the entrance to my side walkway. You will be amazed at how bright they are. I love these precious little lights that actually illuminate my indoors through my windows, eliminating the need for nightlights. This was a great segment and I'm not evnightlight. Thank you!
Thank you, Linda and Leah! All your tips and tricks really help me. I’m not original either, I see something beautiful and then try to copy it. I would love to see Leah’s new apartment and see how she makes it a home. I know that I would get some good ideas from her as well. Thank you again! Happy Summer! 😊
U are so right if it wasn't for God we wouldn't be hear so all our hard work through him he made it happen so evangelist is good if we believe love the Lateran
I use a lot of lanterns and all are solar, including pathway lights. Love them! My very favorite ones are the kind that look like fire inside…they last so long and also have totally kept the raccoons coming close to my house!
At my little farm house, we have mason jars filled with solar powered fairy lights hanging from the trees and around the garden fence. They are magical at night.
I read along time ago, “Gardeners live in beautiful places, because they create it.” Which tells us that everyone can create their charmed life. Thank you for showing us how.

I also live a charmed life! I can't walk to my favorite museum but i can across the street to walk in a corn field and woods.
Ohhhhhh girlfriend! I’m glad you showed the cottage at night! Everything is stunning and the entire look changes with the lantern light. Gorgeous! Be blessed!
“ To live my bigger life, I need less.” Absolutely brilliant! Thank you Linda!

I just love you and your attitude. One can create a better life for themselves. You have done it. Yay, Linda. We learn so much from you and Stewart.❤️
So true to be appreciative of one's own life. Life is beautiful.😍💚🌸🌼🌺🌹🌸

Yes, a charming life....and such a grand companion flowers and plants. "A Garden Life" is charming!
Be the star of your OWN life. Yes!

Loved all Jan Karon’s books. I think there are those that just find beauty in every simple thing, and joy in the everyday.

I’ve just cleaned out the dark recesses of my closet. It feels so good to get organized. 😊
Your talk about a charmed life was exactly what I needed! I now keep saying I have a charmed life!! I really do , but I forgot that!!

Yes life looks so easy and charming....but, it sure takes WORK! In order to realize this charm, a person has gone through some unhappy and stressful bad times to appreciate the good. Thanks for all the delightful videos and thoughts , they bring us such comfort and delight.
The Lord said, " Let there be light", and so did Linda! Love this relaxing video on this beautiful Sunday Morning! Thank You !

That’s the first time i have seen the charming roof on your house. You are so inspiring in so many ways. Thank you
You sure added another level of magic.
Wow! You're comments about your "charming life" made me stop and think about my many blessings; living near a very charming small town in north central GA has given us a beautiful lifestyle.... gardening, family and friends close by, time (as retirees) to watch the wildlife all around us as they enjoy my gardening efforts. LInda, I love how you put that! Thank you for all you do!
Brown metal SOLAR lanterns. Love the cozy light. I also use solar curtain lights in my pergola. Dreamy ambiance at night.
Hi Linda. I adore your lanterns and it's a wonderful addition to any garden.
You’re so uplifting, Linda!

I love my Garden Gate magazine! It is so informative!
I love solar lights!!! Yours are beautiful…as is your garden!

I haven’t even watched it yet but so excited that the video is 46 minutes! Can’t wait.
I have never been a candle or lantern person, but your use of both has been inspiring!
Linda looks so pretty
Great subject! I love lighting my front and back yard! I repurposed a new birdhouse, gluing and grouting rocks to make it look like a gnome home. Then I glued gnome figures on the front porch and added solar fairy lights inside. To weather proof it I applied several coats of high gloss varnish. Then I placed it by my pond.
Happiness is contagious. Spread it!
❤Good point.😊I am also very grateful for my lovely life and that of family members. I downsized and am giving away all I can to a, Buy Nothing (free) store, set up at a nonprofit. They open it once a month. We don't want to toss out anything nice that others can use.👍
So enjoyed the format of your show today. Loved the informal chat between yourself and Leah......it was almost like being there with you!
Thank you!
Agree! Victoria Osteen wrote a book called, “Love Your Life.” ☀️👍🎉🎉
Thank you, Linda and Leah! All your tips and tricks really help me. I’m not original either, I see something beautiful and then try to copy it.
I would love to see Leah’s new apartment and see how she makes it a home. I know that I would get some good ideas from her as well. Thank you again! Happy Summer! 😊
❤️ the solar lanterns and lights
All good things come from the Lord. We should give him all the glory.

I use a lot of lanterns and all are solar, including pathway lights. Love them! My very favorite ones are the kind that look like fire inside…they last so long and also have totally kept the raccoons coming close to my house!
The garden is gorgeous, it filled out nicely
Thank you Linda … you spoke to me today ☺️🙏🏼🇦🇺🍷🐨🐨🐨
Love this video! The lantern lights are magical. I have a few outside at our home. Love it!!!
At my little farm house, we have mason jars filled with solar powered fairy lights hanging from the trees and around the garden fence. They are magical at night.
Can you share where you purchased your fairy lights?
Well, like most of the comments, ditto. I really needed to hear what you just said. Thank you, Linda.
