@FoxtrotGold69 Whether you are an experienced or new player to the Souls genre, Elden Ring is an amazing game, and for many reasons a great entry point to the genre as it has a lot of mechanics that can make the game more manageable of you find yourself struggling. I genuinly beleive that Elden Eing offers some of the best value for money in the market. Just take your time with it, enjoy tye experience, and most importantly play it how YOU want to. Don't let anyone else stop you from using certain mechanics or builds or weapons. It's your first playthrough and that experience is a one of a kind so make sure you enjoy it the way you want!
Wretch class was my first blind playthrough- best starting classs as even stat spread- every weapon or item of armor found may be useful plus once you know the game well enough you can easily run and collect armor a weapons to create your own unique 'starter class'
Ooof as someone that did a blind first playthrough too, hats off to you for going with Wretch, bold move! The wretch is a great class for the reasons you mentioned, but it can make the early game a bit of a slog, especially if your not too used to soulslikes. What's your plan for the DLC, do you have a build in mind?
@@libralonix hey thanks for the speedy response- I made a new character months ago when DLC was first announced started as a wretch- currently level 170... Will probably get to 200 before DLC- I chose to go Dex-Arcane. I maxed out my arcane at around 80 purely for the item discovery bonus- so this character is to collect every single armor and weapon drop possible. I also have a level 430 character- my main. But I actually haven't touched elden ring in the past few months- been enjoying Lords of the Fallen
I'm doing a similar thing in trying to obtain as much loot as possible prior to the DLC, i was originally aiming for a level 80 character, but I've since exceeded that and i genuinely think level 120+ is going to be the best spot.
I have been obsessed with the starting class. I'm only 120h into the game and this is my conclusions, but I'm looking for either affirmation or corrections on these if you wouldn't mind stopping to read. Warrior: Main melee DPS and Keen Ash of war mastery. Does well to punish large enemies with big recovery times. Best used as a Cooperative Finger if the host is a Confessor or Vagabond. Samurai: Attacks at every single opening possible making it the most consistent dps of all classes, never needing to pause for a break due to its high stamina. Sacrifices versatility of the Vagabond class in exchange for higher DPS and an immediate ranged option. Struggles against heavy armored opponents due to the lack of staggering power and enemies immune to bleed. A contender arcane for amplifying it's bleed katana and dragon spells, but not much use for its discovery since it's starting armery is all you need. Vagabond: Highest HP of all classes. Widest range arsenal. Best suited against human and middle sized bosses. This class is most likely to do the most exploring as they can equip armaments to deal with anything. Bandit: easily amasses resources from dispatching lackies and has dragon sorceries for bosses. He can opt to go into the caves anyway to quickly max out multiple weapons for the highest early game power spike. Hero: Highest stance damage of all classes. Not quite as tanky as the Vagabond. Deals with above human sized bosses. Can make space for other cooperative fingers to recover through repeated stance breaking and parrying. Excellent at absorbing sorceries and incantation damage. A surprising arcane stat that hints, like the bandit, may be possible to use dragon spells together with their brute force. Confessor: The ultimate all around class; the widest arsenal and adaptability. Bloody Finger specialist after the holy immunity cut off in the mid game. Prophet: Ultimate support Cooperative Finger. High burst damage and heals. Can choose incantations that bosses are weak to. No incantations are above their reach. Prisoner: superior combat advantage in a 1v1, high colosseum ranking. Has trouble dealing with multiple targets and opponents with high poise. One man damage machine. Astrologer: Backline caster. Highest sustainable ranged DPS of all classes. Will not survive the lands between without the use of spirits, summons, and Cooperative Fingers.
This is a very wthought out summery of all the starter classes and a great perspective. The only real issues i see are your absolute statements about certain classes. E.g. the astrologer won't survive without spirits, summons or coop fingers. A lot of these statements aren't true and paint a very false picture of each class. The most important thing with every class is that they don't really matter, any class can do anything and within a few hours can be levelled to match the abilities of any other class. Class selection is very much just a kick start to the build you want, but again any build/class can take on and succeed at all aspects of Elden Ring, and imo this is the most important bit of information to convey to people when struggling to pick a class ✌️😎
@@libralonix I said that about the astrologer for two reasons. 1, lowest HP of all classes. 2, it is the first origin to meet their fate, the vendor after Godrick has their armor set as he says, "don't ask where I got them from." Can you explain what arcane, faith and mind is
Sure thing, these are all stats that can be increased based on the following:
Mind:
- This is how much FP (Focus points) you have, and is essentially your magic stamina, different spells/skills require an amount of FP to use, and the Mind stat determines how big your FP bar is (its the blue bar under your health bar).
- This can be replenished by sitting at a site of grace, or by consuming your Flask of Cerulean Tears.
- Also, the Mind stat affects your Focus, which improved your resistances to Madness and Sleep effects.
Arcane:
- It effects any weapons that have a scaling with Arcane, which in turn scales the amount of blood loss, poison, sleep or madness build-up that the weapon may have
- This stat affects various things like your Discovery stat (which determines the chance at which items will drop from enemies)
- It increases your holy defense
- Increases vitality which increases resistance to Death Blight
Faith:
- The faith stat is mainly used to increase the effectiveness of Incantation damage, so the higher your faith the more damage your incantations will do, and likewise for any weapons that have a faith scaling
It is also worth noting that you will need to reach certain levels in order to wield the different weapons, so keep an eye out for the Stat Req section on each weapon.
