    Thanks for the video !! I found it easier to take the top clips out with the forks still on the bike. One of the caps wouldn't come out, but I soaked it in WD40 and it popped out overnight.

      That was lucky. Can be a nightmare getting them out sometimes. Thanks for watching 😬👍

      @@itchingtoride To put the seals in the right way up, is the top of the seal the face with the wider rim? I did one this way (put in the same way as it came out), but then the other fork had the seal the other way round, and this fork had lost nearly all its fork oil. Thanks.

      @@ljckclark8973 Hello. I cannot remember what way round they were now. I just put them in the way they come out. Sorry I cannot help. If you have a Haynes manual it should show you in there.

    I’m restoring an RD250B and have sprayed the engine blocks and heads, what’s the best way to restore the polished edges on the cooling fins? Many Thanks

    If I put the oil level at 75 mil instead of 195mil it means that I will pour no more 140cc of oil but more, right? In the manual it says to use 10w / 30 engine oil and not hydraulic oil for forks; what kind of oil did you use and what alcohol content? I read that someone improves the fork by putting shims under the closing cap of about 3cm, have you ever tried it?

    • @itchingtoride
      @itchingtoride  3 роки тому +2

      Hello. Use 15W fork oil and do the oil level to 75mm. Yes you will use more oil than 140cc but that’s ok. It say use 10w/30 engine oil because that’s what they used years ago. Now there are better oils to use. I haven’t put shims in before so so that’s up to you if you try that 😬👍

      @@itchingtoride Ok thanks, so the advice would be to put more oil, about how much?

    • @itchingtoride

    Have you got any tips on how to remove the top cap that pushes down the spring ? My one has rusted and won’t push back up after pushing it down to remove the clip !! Cheers

    • @itchingtoride
      @itchingtoride  3 роки тому

      Hello. Yes I have had it happen a couple of times. I welded a bolt to the cap and used a slid hammer to pull it out. Good luck 😬👍

    • @itchingtoride
      @itchingtoride  3 роки тому

      If you don’t have a welder you could drill a hole in the cap a put a thread in it. Then Use a slide hammer. You can buy new caps 😬👍
