Asian stores are notorious for that. I don't even bother spending my hard earned money in their stores anymore. Why do they also open stores in areas were there are mixed and black people and also sell black and mixed people's productt. They just want your money and don't give a shit about people that don't look like them.

I'm Japanese-American, male, born in 1973 in Seattle. My ex-wife (wonderful lady) is Black/Cherokee/White. Our daughter was born in 2013. Maybe, we've been lucky, but neither of our families have ever given us a hard time. I actually get a little bit irked when people label my daughter as Asian, because she's also Black, Native American, and White, and her mother's background shouldn't be ignored. I mentioned all of this more in detail on another post on this video, but my daughter does get some teasing for being Blasian: "Mongol Negro," "Chinese Black girl," "Black girl with Down Syndrome, "Chocolate rice cake." But, she reasons, "Well, everybody gets teased about something. Lucas, a White classmate, has a big nose, and he gets teased about that."

@@wisebo8226i agree, been in South Florida my entire life and never experienced outright racism. Yes, people will look, but if you're an attractive couple or well put together people are gonna look at you... the looks may have nothing to do with race. I've experienced more instances of racism while married to my dark skinned black husband. If you go into central and north Florida the vibes can be different towards blacks. I am black and voted for Trump so mofos really need to stop the backhanded discrimination and racism. In regard to the video, black families more often that not will welcome any race into their home if you vouch for them and the person is respectful. I went to predominantly white schools growing up. I had white friends that I hung out with on a daily basis. I remember going to their upscale homes when their parents were out or out of town, but my bestie could freely visit my house anytime. One of my best friends dated a white guy in high school for like a year. He asked her to prom and when he told his father his father told him he won't be putting no n9gga in his car... they still dated but didn't go to prom together.

This was a great podcast. I was married to my husband for 18 years before he passed. We had three beautiful sons together and he was a black man I was a white woman and we never experienced hate from the family, but when we traveled and was out and about you can see the hate and I live right here in Miami. I hate to say it, but there is a ton of hate right here in Miami. I will give you one Major incident that me and my husband experienced at Disney, which we never ever went back to again and my kids never wanted to go back to. I stepped away for a few moments to go to the restroom and grab the kids something to eat, and my husband was along with his kids and was approached by a cop saying that my kid looked afraid and that he Kidnapped my kids. Long story short we had to prove that theses were his kids. To long of a story to get into. My kids and me and my husband had to go to counseling for years to overcome this but to this day, even though my sons are grown now and there dad in no longer here, and they know not all cops are bad. They still look over their shoulder when they see a cop. I’ve been asked after losing my husband will I ever date another black man after everything we been through and the answer is yes I will. There is not enough hate in the world can stop me from what I’m attracted to. Thank you guys for sharing your stories.

When Tray was talking about the road trip that him, keisha, and his friend took to that town outside of Toronto and they went into that restaurant and everybody winded up clearing out. That sounds like they stumbled upon "Sundown Town" because that is beyond creepy. They actually did a study on interracial dating that I was reading and discovered that 59% of mixed and biracial people actually felt that they more culturally accepted by their black family or the black community more often then their white families.

Randomly stumbled upon this and think you guys are adorable! I’m black and date all colors. One of my biggest pet peeves is insecurity in many blacks that think dating white is dating up, and they completely lose their identity and self pride, while also not having many standards other than that the person is just “white”. The second is flat out racism from whites who won’t admit they’re racist, but quickly deny any positive characteristics or compatibility because they reject skin color. You two remind me of my interracial relationships in that I am myself, and that person is who they are.
I love the video, will check you guys out more, and hope y’all continue to speak on this topic, because we are still experiencing tons of problems and racism today with this, and folks dating folks for the right reasons needs to be “normalized”.

I have adored your family AND you as a couple since day one. It’s really helpful to hear your experiences with racism from both sides because that’s not often shared. I think interracial couples keep their head down and don’t share much of what they go through. Keisha saying that you all don’t get that push that you would if you were a single race couple was insightful. Much continued success. What’s for you is yours! And Keisha, that outfit is 🔥on you.

Thank you for addressing racism and doing it honestly. I am a white mom of 9 kids...1 Native American, 1 Mexican, and 7 black kids. Tray, you and I know how differently we're treated when we're alone. I've also dated interracially. I've been so tired of UA-cam interracial couples say they never have problems when they've been asked. I just quit watching and supporting those channels.
I have so many stories, from my LEO son being stopped and needing to assume the pose as his off duty gun was strapped to his ankle, to a cross burned in my yard, to the KKK leaving business cards on windshields of the NAACP convention cars and my attempted murder that night. (I'm writing a book. The Next 20 Years)
I don't ever watch podcasts. I'd rather watch the conversations in 'real time' everyday life. BUT...I saw the title of your podcast and listened to it all. I really enjoyed it. I wish other interracial families would do the same and be honest. It's rough out here.

Great talk. I still will never understand the problem people have about two people ,who fall in love and are attracted to each being together. It's all about fear of something being different and also ignorance. The most important issue is, that inside we are all alike, no exception. Racism is a learned behaviour. So what is learned can be unlearned. But for many it's so ingrained, that they cannot go beyond it. An example I always use is: you meet someone on the phone and you hit it of, you have a lot in common, you enjoy the same things, you have the same principles.,etc.You talk for hours and look forward to the next phone call. You've never seen each other. This goes on for months. One day you decide to meet and realize you are from different races. If your energy was so connected all those months, why should it make a difference, that one is Chinese, Norwegian, African or Philippine? I applaud your generation, you don't let any of these things stand in your way .This is evolution and no one can stop that. Keep up the good work. Many of those racist will never accomplish what you have and will keep accomplishing.Keep looking upward and forward.Blessings.

Love the episode and Tray is right the interracial community is growing not sure if you've seen more and more ads with blk women white men and other non blk men so the future generations will look different from what we're use to now.
I also wanted to point out you all being from Canada the US. Has a long painful history with chattel slavery and has had an effect on particular blk women dating out because of the things our women ancestors went threw.
It's also discouraged particularly for blk women in the blk community in America because the blk woman is the back bone of the family.
Although in the last 10 years a growing number of blk women in America are now open to dating out and the stats success rates are the highest with white men blk women couple's.
In the last 10 years things are changing your family is a great example of this some blk women are scared and worry to much what people think particularly in the blk community that is now fast fading thank God.

You are blessed that as a couple that during those awkward situation you have both recognised it for what it is, e.g.the death stare. In some interracial relationships, where the white partner is male it is like they do not either recognise the signs of racism or do not want to address it in the moment, therefore leaving the black partner feeling unsupported. My husband is white, and I'm black. He's from Connecticut, and I'm from NY. We both now live in Florida, where he retired from the military. From experience, I know racism exists throughout the USA, especially in the South. Research and reading about the South helped me understand how ignorance can be perpetuated from one generation to another generation by both black and whites. I wish that people would wake up and realize that love is color-blind. We have decided we were more comfortable living in New Egland and decided to move back to New England. Florida is very scenic, but other than that, it's not for us. God bless you and keep up the good work.❤❤❤❤❤

This was a great topic to address guys. I have been I'm an interracial relationship for over 15 years and find I didn't really notice anything untoward. I think that maybe because I'm black but quite lightskinned so I think alot of people couldn't quite work me out. When abroad they would ask are you Brazilian or something to that effect, I would say no Jamaican, they said really but it was good vibes though. They would start dancing saying aah Bob Marley, hope that was legit and not some other meaning.

Me and my husband has been married for 20 years but living together for 16 years. Now I never experienced any racial discrimination because of our interracial marriage but I believe and feel that the problem came from my husband he felt it from himself, I say that because he was in the military so we seen interracial marriages and relationships. So the problems that we saw was on his side and himself I know that his grandmother had some feelings about us being together because when we first got married his grandmother called and told me to tell him that she was not happy with him because he married a black woman and he really carried that with him .

I am a black Jamaican married to a white man. He has 3 children from a previous marriage. His ex-wife told her kids to call me nigga, monkey etc, and told them I was living off the government. I went to the table with my own house, own car businesses also I am a realtor, the thing is they didn’t know anything about me is daughter get in an argument with her dad and told him he was just a nigga lover. If it wasn’t for God!!!and coming from a strong foundation. I would have left. One day, I overheard a conversation between my husband and his mom. Her granddaughter called her and asked, how do you feel about your son dating a black woman???? Her response was," whatever makes my son happy, even though I am against black people dating white people, mind you, I was extremely nice to this lady. I loved everything about my mother-in-law. When I overheard that conversation, everything in me shattered. I have become bitter because we were newlyweds also. This situation has me praying more. I was so hurt. I talked to my pastor about the situation. My pastor went clean off on my husband and told him to stand up for your wife. Do not let your family come in and treat her like that. I was bitter and angry, it took me a while because god proved them wrong. I didn’t want anything from my husband because I came with a lot at the table. The only people that were accepting of me was is Dad and brother. I don’t talk to my mother-in-law anymore, I don’t even acknowledge her.

    • @Macaanlikemango
      @Macaanlikemango Рік тому +9

Also, coming from a good foundation has nothing to do with tolerating overt anti-black racism. You don't have to abandon yourself and your humanity to be with a person who isn't safe and doesn't practice anti-racism. It’s only going to affect your mental health, and it probably already has. If he’s previous wife and kids are racist, then trust me, so is he.

You should share the cities where these incidents happened so others who may be traveling in or near these cities can be aware. If the whole restaurant left it's probably indicative of the whole town. Same with the first story about the cop pulling you over because "they're not your people." You may be saving someone's life by letting us know where these incidents happened. I know I didn't think Canada was like this. I've been to Montreal and Quebec City and both were lovely experiences, but now I don't really have a desire to visit other areas.
