My cousin is married to a white guy. The only things I hear are the their differences. They don't experience anything negative living around LA. My side doesn't care that he's white but her in-laws are conservative. I was surprised by that because I grew up 40 minutes from where her husband was raised just outside NYC. Y'all have my support. If it wasn't for interracial relationships, be that many came from rape, a lot of us wouldn't be here. Me included.
i lived in Toronto and have lived in Miami.. to each their own but there is no comparison between the 2... the only thing Miami has to offer is weather except during hurricane season.. i live in Vancouver now... you guys have no clue about the mildest weather in Canada on the west coast..
I went on a vacation to Cuba 10 years ago, in the middle of January. On the day we had to return, the temperature was 37 below and super windy at the airport in Canada. Even if this plane made it home, why would I want to live in that cold dark misery, after landing? I almost preferred it would crash, rather than deal with the horror again. So, when I checked out of the hotel room, I left my luggage in a room I thought could maybe get robbed, but not by a random street person, so at least I did my due diligence. I left ALL my primary ID on it! I was REEALLY hoping for a staff mix up to lose my luggage, so I'd have no choice but to stay! My bad luck though, no one took my luggage.
No one ever gets fully Supported by any community. Case and point Beyonce.
As a first timer watching an interracial couple talk of their experiences of blatant racism in Canada, I'm very surprised/shocked. I thought Canada was more progressive than that. I know that Canada is more progressive with their First Nations/Indigenous peoples than most. Their national parliament looks more diverse than most. I guess there are still communities that didnt get the memo or needs to get with the program. Im a typical looking Pacific Islander that married a blond blue eyed super model type in Sydney Australia some 40 odd yrs ago. We have always lived in Sydney and travel around most of Aust whenever we can. I have never had a blatant racial episode ever ! Im sure there would have been some covert racism but it may be my typical Pacific Islander looks and demeanour that put people at ease. For some context, I'm from an Island that most Aussies for generations go for their holidays/vacation, so we have a very good reputation. And especially now that a lot of our footy players are of Islander heritage. Although, I've experienced unconscious bias/racism, like being the last to be sat next to in a bus, even though i would present, dress and look better than half of the white guys on the bus or be over looked to be served next in a busy situation until i call it out. Also, the other surprising thing is that i feel that Australia is still way behind Canada with their progressive First Nations/Indigenous polices. Soo, something doesn't match up there.
Smarties in the Islands and Canada only.
I am Jamaican and lived in CT for 40 years. I too had seasonal depression so I moved to Florida 7 years ago.
