i love the design of this treadmill, but i really wish you werent locked into buying it WITH a pico headset. Id love to be able to purchase the treadmill itself and use it for pcvr. If that is something they would be doing in the future i would purchase it instantly once they did, but i cant justify paying for a headset i do not need, and i do not care for their "ecosystem"
Gotta agree. They really shot themselves in the foot with that one. There should be an option to buy the unit standalone. Would be cheaper that way too.
Yeah i get that they were trying to be like apple and have it be a jump in jump out no config necessary for wealthy enthusiasts, but for the core community limiting what we can play just wont do.
I think they are still gearing it towards arcades ... They know enthusiasts will buy it for their home but it's def more for those tourists entertainment places still. Which isn't a bad idea. Maybe I should open a VR arcade🤔
I would be more inclined to get one if I wasn't locked into needing the headset that is sold with the treadmill. I would want to be able to use my Meta Quest 3 with it, be able to have it plugged in so I could play hours without my headset dying and maybe a way to also enable the controllers to be kept charged too if you have the rechargeable setup with those.
incredible, we live in the future man, full immersion VR for your home for a couple of grand, that is truly amazing. I remember way back in the 90s with the old virtuality systems that cost tens of thousands. There was some weird awkward treadmill setups, one guy even made a giant hamster ball, dudes were playing doom with it, seemed a bit death trappy but this here is true practical genius.
They definitely need that option to allow other headsets, because headsets will come out every year pretty much and being tied to that headset will keep me waiting for now, but the whole system looks really nice and the CEO seems like a cool dude.
Omni WAS neat... but forcing it onto a VR headset like that makes it far less interesting for all the people who already have a VR headset. That seems like such a bad move on their part. ALSO, they need to make it so that you can prop it upright when not using it. You can take the arm and step off, but because of the piece sticking out the back you can't easily put it vertical, they should have put the wheels on that part and some kind of stand. Otherwise you are stuck with this big thing stuck taking up so much floor space, maybe you could store it under a bed but it still feels cumbersome to move it around.
I have an original omni, and I am very excited for the potential of VR treadmills. Unfortunately, the original omni drivers were very limited, and their system was really locked down. It was very evident they intended the hardware to be used in their arcades and only in their ecosystem. I wound up using Natural Locomotion with Vive trackers to get my omni usable with most SteamVr games, and I recently picked up a Kat Loco S that I still need to test with the omni. This new Omni one looks really interesting and it looks like their drivers have improved quite a bit, but I'm still disappointed they are locking down their ecosystem so much. I would absolutely love for them to release more generic pcvr or standalone drivers so that their treadmill can be used with other headsets or stores. If they open up their system, I would be very interested in getting a newer system that has proper movement tracking.
It makes sense that they are including the Pico headset though. For them, it makes support a lot easier if there is only one set of components they need to test and implement. It also lets them really curate the experience and implementation of their system. Which again makes it easier for them to deal with enterprise/commercial customers.
Also, when re-watching this video I noticed they are using the Pico 4e, so face and eye-tracking is exciting, and that does look like a decent headset.
As a partial disabled gamer. I wouldn't be able to do all the running around like that. Do they do a system similar without the running base. Is there a system where It allows me to play vr games standing rather than sitting but still strapped in so I don't go flying into the furniture ?
I was supper excited about saving up to get this, but if I can’t use it with my own headset or Steam games then there’s no point. I thought it’d be cool to literally walk around in, say VRChat, while exploring worlds. Would be great exercise. Oh well. I’ll wait.
Hi jaybratt, bobovr keeps delivering their products to me at least 3 days before they say it will arrive 🤣 I'm not complaining but I just think it's funny that is has happened twice now
Looks like another way you could say it is if "I had a nickel for every time I got something delivered 3 days before it was said to arrive I would have two nickels it isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice" and yes as I was typing that I did imagine it being said in Dr Doofenshmirtz voice
@@BashermechReal yeah it's a reference to that one scene in Phineas and Ferb when Dr Doofenshmirtz said something similar I don't remember exactly what it was he claimed happened twice but apparently it happened twice
Thanks for the great look at this, I love your videos! I do disagree with them including the headset, and I wasn’t sure why you told him that was “smart”. 🤷🏻♂️ I don’t mean to criticize, but I do wish you would’ve told him that selling the treadmill separately would sell more units than including a headset most VR gamers putting up for a treadmill likely do not need or want. Maybe you actually think it’s a smart idea, but I’m guessing you were just trying to be polite, which I get. They invited you there to get an awesome inside look.
The fact you have to use their headset is what kills it for me at least. I have a quest 2 and 3. I own 200+ games on the quest store already! Plus 200 or so on steam! Would rather just buy the Omni for a fraction of the the cost, cause you know that 900 is factored in! And then use my quest! The idea its tied to any HMD is just icky! Would always feel like I'm locked in to using that HMD...
It is indeed cool but I see enough problems to not buy it. 1- I don't want the pico headset, I got my Q3 and my PC, I don't want or need another headset. I would rather get a package without it. 2- space, I really like that is easily disassemble, it just needs a built in way to store it vertically when not in use. I love to see that there's innovation in the space, I hope it keeps evolving to the point there's more viable solutions for people in smaller spaces
Still only concentrating on a few games made for it and not Steam. They said maybe an emulation for VR tinkerers? No thanks. The Katwalk supports all Steam games out of the box. I don't understand why they don't focus primarily on Steam native support. Also, the Pico is already outdated as a VR headset. The Katwalk you can use any headset. The Omni is just so limited...and way more expensive than the Katwalk.
In essence, it's the difference between building a hot rod in your garage and making it what you want or buying one off the show room floor. It's just your preference to how you want to partake in a VR treadmill; some people like to tinker and modify, others want a fully plug and play experience
@@justaguydoinstuffits exactly like that, and then they "promise" extra dlc neighborhoods later. The design of this treadmill is better than the kats, but they ruin it with legit everything else they are doing.
The omni just makes me sad when i see it being 3 inches taller than the max (max is 6'4" and i am 6'7" and 10lbs heavier than the 250 max rated). If someone comes up with a open source software with foot tracking for the movement i would just build my own but until that day...
cool but they took far too long to release and cost more and less compatibility than katwalk...i wish them the best but even a new pico is coming. even with the wireless quest adapter katwalk is still cheaper
The most advanced consumer VR treadmill? LOL ok...I think Katwalk c2+ is more advanced. The question from otter had me rolling. She has a kat at home and her question was "What game is the best workout?" The price, the headset, and how long this technology has been out is a huge turnoff. This is the Pelaton model that is doomed for failure.
Cool video, but so far treadmills are useless gimmicks - probably fun to try, and useful for 1-2 apps. But too bulky, too clumsy to use, too unatural movement. Never going to be an easy to use mainstream product. Too bad tho.
I don't like Virtuix CEO because 7 years ago he kept telling we need Virtuix otherwise people will get motion sick. Basically he want us to buy couple thousand dollar device to use VR headset. He tried to kill the vr market that time
So cool, but there is just no point in continuing to watch after hearing how much this costs. That will just make things harder seeing as there is no way I will ever be able to afford it.
It is crazy that this whole setup is still cheaper than the Apple Vision Pro
So true!!
It's getting closer to mass adoption!

They should offer the Omni-One without the Headset. i have plenty headsets i Dont need/want another Pico-4, but i am kinda interested in the Treadmill
This seemed like so long ago! Thank you for visiting, and hope you enjoyed your time in the Omniverse!

For me to be interested in this, it needs to be compatible with Steam Vr and Meta Quest. It looks pretty cool, though.
Their website says it is, but they keep saying "will be." So I don't know if it's there yet.

This is really cool, far too big for my little house, but glad it exists.
Me too. The home studio got VERY full when a VR treadmill was in there. At least it has wheels so you can store it easier!
I’m halfway through and haven’t heard anything about Quest 3 compatibility. Can we use this without their rebranded pico headset?
Right!? How does that make them better than KatVr treadmills?
Does it work with World of Warcraft?
Love all the vids man keep up the good work❤
Thanks Zayden!! I appreciate your comment :)
honestly wish they would release this for meta and also be able to have all the games on one store instead of having multiple stores
agreed. Meta have sewn up the market, so it's pointless having multiple stores. Which would be a barrier to buying this sort of thing IMO
Regardless... love the video! And super cool tech :) Thanks JayBratt!
thoes tredmeils are quite cool
When you get the new bobo doc could you please measure it?
