    Great video - thank you! I will say for my 2012 Traverse LTZ AWD, I had no access to a lift and needed to do this from the driveway. I hit the plastic panel fasteners with penetrator and let that sit for an hour and worked them out w/o destroying them so that was a good thing. Another thing I had to do was get a low profile 1/2" drive socket. I would not fit my standard 1/2" drive socket in there as it was about .5" too big. No biggie, picked up a cheapie at Harbor Freight and was all good. I also had a tough time using the idler as the last pulley to work the belt from my back on the driveway. I ended up using the crank as the last pulley after looping over the AC and tensioner pulleys, My old belt was a disaster so really glad I did it when I did. Thanks again! - Tim

    I want to thank you for your diagram on the belt and pully system, without that I was lost, until that diagram came up. I was running the belt from the AC to the alternator, then to the idler wheel, and wondering why the darn thing wasn't tightening. After your diagram, it took me only five minutes to get the belt on rite. Kudos to you and thank you again.

    The video and diagram was really helpful. Without a lift and with a new belt I found it near impossible to get the belt of the idle pulley and instead opted to sneak it over the crank pulley.

    My shop has had my Traverse for the third day. It's good to see that this isn't a 3-day job. Let's hope they don't charge me more than an hour or two.

      🤣💀 I'm not defending them, but Traverse are so hard to work on, because of lack of space. Chevy just decided to throw everything is one tight space

      @@International-BlackMan yeah, I've pulled the subframe on mine to work on it. Easier to pull it and remove the whole assembly onto dollies than to take the front of the car apart to get just the engine out.

    For those of us without a lift, it helps to have a quick clamp to use to clamp the breaker bar to the lower control arm. unless you warm the belt up or stretch it across something for a day or two, it's usually pretty twisted and bent when its fresh out of the package, and getting it in while you're on your back reaching up with one hand is a pain. For me the alternator pulley is where the belt kept slipping off while I was trying to mount it. Had to clamp the tensioner over so I could use both hands.

    I have a 2012 traverse and this diagram is different from mine. The tension and idle pulleys are reversed. Following this video got me in trouble twice and cost me $300.00 more than would have otherwise. If somehow the belt fit in this diagram, it would rub against the idler pulley.

    why do you need to mark the belt if you're replacing with a new one? i get it if you're just taking off the old and putting it back on but with a new belt, what's the purpose? thanks!

    Just another example of how horrible it is to do normally simple things on this vehicle. Even changing the air filter, oil and spark plugs is a gigantic chore. Never again gmc acaida (2012)

    • @chuckvan1568
      @chuckvan1568 3 роки тому

      I sort of agree that it's a chore to do these tasks having just changed the spark plugs on my wife's traverse at 147K miles. And plan to do the drive belt tomorrow night, but would note this is the first time those plugs and belts have needed to be changed. And it was running great! I felt it was time. I can't complain about the Traverse. Changing the belt may seem complicated but that belt runs everything. No other belts needed! And it never slips or squeals. That's amazing!
