For the alignment you should mark eccentric bolt before removing from the strut so you can put back where it was for wheel alignment. I also do it this way as opposed to removing ball joint unless of course your changing the ball joint.

I am going to be trying mine today as I did one on a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire...the only difference so far is the axle nut is a 33mm not 34 as there was too much play when the 34mm socket was on. I have 2010 CXL with 20" wheels.
Can you spray the wheel speed sensor with penetrating fluid to help get it out easier ? Can you use brake parts cleaner on that sensor too - to clean it up ?
Tell us the nut size as you point out the switch to ratchet on the axle nut as you do for the box wrenches, etc. Really nice comments during your work to describe your technique, like pulling straight so as to avoid seal damage, etc. By the way, using the clicker torque wrench, you might want to creep up on the torque a little bit. The release when you reach the set torque only has a bit of play. If you go too fast you might overshoot. Not a big deal but depends on your wrench I guess. Thanks for this video, I will buy my parts from you guys in the future!

Good video, but the vehicle was not that old and rusted. Plus the lift helps a lot. They should do it like we have to. With jack stands and close to the ground on rusted cars.
It takes too long and harder to film that way. They are showing you what’s involved. The lift makes it easier but it doesn’t change any of the steps. Plus they used hand tools for the entire job. What more do you want ?
Question' I have 2012 sonic 120k miles a/t, the cv axle on the driver side is lose from the transmission side, is the problem the cv axle itself or bearing inside of the transmission?
Thanks for checking us out! There could be multiple reasons why you're having this particular problem. We suggest taking your vehicle to a nearby reputable shop to identify the cause. +chem dog
How do i know if the axel needs replacement? The covers look fine, like the one in the video, they are sealed and they look fine, but i am getting a alight "clunk" only when i turn my steering wheel.... No noice when i go ober bumps. All bushings look fine, all new struts.
You're going to want to first make sure all of the fasteners are torqued properly on the control arms, tie rod end, ball joints, sway bar end link, and axle. If nothing is loose, the noise could be the axle but it could also be the steering rack. Much easier to replace the axle, so if you're doing the work yourself it's the better bet.

Great video, good detailed procedure gives me confidence to try and do it myself thanks
8:51 what if it didn't have one and what is it's purpose?
Thank you in advance!
Great channel 👍
I imagine the purpose of the washer is to keep the bearing from rubbing against the axle.
can this procedure works for a 2010 Buick enclave?

Yes - Acadia, Traverse, Outlook end Enclave - all

I forgot to install the washer on the new hub is it going to F anything up or noise issue.
Hello, I got a 2011 traverse. The seal on the housing that the cv axle goes in is leaking. What is that seal called?

How long would you say it would take for one person doing this at their house without the benefit of a lift?
2-4 hours if everything comes part easy to nothing comes apart easy.
Is it possible for a new 2019 Trax to have a CV axle go out
No need for realignment after detaching the strut?
Yes.
Would this be pretty similar to 2012 GMC terrain?

Why not use some anti seize compound on the splines?
Should have put a new ABS Reluctor Ring in it at the same time. They don't last long.
0:29 the tire looks fine on that side ha ha
Generally I place a flat blade screwdriver in the grooves of the rotor to take the axle nut off like that

Is it tranny oil or transfer case fluid?
I know we all work differently and I shouldn’t criticize but the tools you’re using makes me get a headache. How do you have the patience for that?

Do you actually need the washer and if you don’t have it any longer what’s it actually called so I could get it
the real question is why they don't just provide a new one with the axle?
why dont you use an impact on any of your videos? Nobody uses breaker bars anymore.
