Your video was a life saver. I have a 2007 Outlook. My alternator just went out at 210000 miles. Talk about a nightmare job! No wonder the local shops quoted $700 to $900 just for labor! Changed the alternator myself and figured I might as well change the belt since it was original as well. Only problem was I forgot how to run the belt by the time I had the alternator back in. Thanks for the very helpful video.
Thank you so much for this video I know I’m a few years late but the belt broke on my wife’s 2012 traverse and every single video i have watched on here says i need to have a 22mm socket to replace the belt. Thanks to you and your video i know that i just replace it like i would on any other vehicle i have worked on
Thank you so much I did not have to replace the belt myself but just bought a 2011 Travers no warranty 20 mins out the lot this happened I've been sleepless fearing engine rod and other major things I've read until I found this vid gave me piece of mind until the mechanic validated what you discribed ty so much I'll be subbing to you for further work on this model.
This video was great. My belt was different (4 pulleys) but I was able to find it online. Took me longer than I expected because I had to track down the tools but if I had everything readily available it would’ve been a quick fix. Again GREAT VIDEO 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I finally did my Enclave water pump, belt, and thermostat last weekend. Took out the fuse box and engine mount instead of doing the wheel well to save my back though. Did need to grind down a new 1/2" breaker bar to fit the belt tensioner though. $11.88 at Walmart.
Can you please do a video on how to replace the belt tensioner AND idler pulley on this same vehicle? Ours is a 2015, & the mechanic I took it to couldn't pull the bolt out all the way that holds the idler pulley in place. He said the bolt was too long & hits on the unibody, & wouldn't come out all the way. So he wasn't able to change out my idler pulley and belt tensioner. I was in denial because I was hoping to get these 2 swapped out with the new belt & water pump just as a preventative measure, not because they were bad. (I had already bought the parts). Please help!
No need to take the whole inner wheel well out, just the two bottom tabs, pull it up with a wire, plenty of room especially if you have a belt tool for your ratchet..thanks for the video.
Well explain thank you. Can you show us also where and how to change the coolant temperature sensor? I couldnt find it anywhere in youtube. Many thanks.
My daughter got one that had a valve cover leak fir a long time we got it fixed but all the old oil and dirt had built up all that greese stuff and the space between it is so tight you can't get the belt up in there without getting grease all over the new one. I'm gonna have to take the damn fender off looks like it maybe I don't even know if that will help
I have a Chevy Uplander and hate working on it.. Bought a Suburban and love working on it... not a fan of the gas mileage but with 4 kids it fits us all and our camping gear if we go light or will tow our trailer with no problem if we want to have it all
No I replace alternator due to not charging my battery leaving me stranded. Changed the belt since I was already taking it off might as well replace it
Quick question looks like an oil leak Is dripping from the top but is not the valve covers what else is a possibility . Any suggestions much appreciated thanks
Same engine is on smaller cars where the engine mount is in the way and there is no way to take the belt off without removing the mount and working from the top. How do you support the engine because the oil pan is aluminum and there is a danger of cracking it if you put the jack under the pan?
There's absolutely no need to remove the 2 large shrouds around the wheel. To access the belt, there's only a small foam attached to the front shroud and it requires removal of only 2 snaps. And it would help to indicate the tensioner socket is 1/2". Other than that, great guide. Thank you and God bless.
you don't have to take the whole inner plastic fender off , just release the two buttons and pull the flap up on the lower right side and hold it out of the way with a bunjie cord . you gain nothing by taking the whole thing off
On my 2008 Saturn Outlook you do not need to pull the inner wheelhouse covers off! TWO plastic attachments under the frame will give you complete access to change belt!
By the way, great job on the video! I ordered my belt, belt tension er bracket assembly, and pulley from Rock Auto great price! Unfortunately GM left no access holes in the frame for me to replace the pulley and tension er asm. thank goodness they were in good shape, would you happen to know how that replacement is done? looks to me like you would need to pull engine? thanks for the feed back!
Was hearing a noise and thought it was the belt. Now I’m assuming it’s the idler pulley. Picked up a new one at auto part store and realize there is no way to get the bolt out without either lifting engine or removing alternator. Geez GM. Why?

well your comment makes me feel like I have some more time on my 2011 with 68k miles with a little squeaky belt

The 22 m,m socket is for the lug nuts. A 3/4" socket worked just fine.

I'm so late to this video but thank you so much for posting this. I'm gonna try to do it my self with a little help.

Good vid. These cars are a nightmare on wheels tho.
Absolute piles, i have had to replace every single thing this week and they suck to work on
Amen to that they are the devil. I want to push mine off a cliff when it's payed off🤣🤣🤣 never again
Thank you for sharing the info, thank you for getting straight to the point.
Huge help, thanks a million!

Thanks for the video will attempt to replace tomorrow I did change my alternator
Did the alternator cause your belt to shred?
No I replace alternator due to not charging my battery leaving me stranded. Changed the belt since I was already taking it off might as well replace it
Just wanted to add, still relevant! And thanks for taking the time to post. About to replace the belt on my 2015 Acadia
Quick question looks like an oil leak Is dripping from the top but is not the valve covers what else is a possibility . Any suggestions much appreciated thanks
Which side of the vehicle is the belt on for a 2008 saturn outlook
if yours was squeaking it because of that oil leak. awesome video. not sure if this will work on our 2017 acadia.
Do u have the diagram for 2008 lx Holden captiva
Is this procedure the same for 2017
Thank you very much your video really helps me a lot 😀
Hi , please tell me where do you out the Floor jack and the jack stand on the Rear or the
Front of the Acadia , thanks .

hi great video..... do you have a video how to replace the power steering pump...
+Rodin Ramos I don't but if you check out my water pump replacement video I would bet it is almost the same
Okay thanks... good thing i already did. I didn't know it was the same....
Does the car need to be jacked up before working on this?
I appreciate the how to video, thank you

@@Cris5598 Why would you say that? I was floored when I saw that comment.
This comment is so unclear. Causes confusion
Hi there ! Should i replace the tensioner when i replace the water pump and belt ? Tks
You should not need to as long as it is working
you don't have to take the whole inner plastic fender off , just release the two buttons and pull the flap up on the lower right side and hold it out of the way with a bunjie cord . you gain nothing by taking the whole thing off
How much trouble is it to replace upper motor mount on 09 traverse 3.6
Thanks Man!
The power steering wheel on my traverse gets really hard some times while turning! You think i could be the belt or i have to replace the pump?
Check fluid levels, if everything else is working ok the belt is probably fine so you may be looking at a bad pump
Thanks for the video I have to replace my belt on my Acadia
This video was very helpful. Thanx!
❤❤❤❤❤ thank you
Good clear instructions, thanks.

+richard myers excellent, thanks for posting that!

Great video thanks so much!
Nice content keep it up 👍
This sucked so bad! lol The job I mean. My pops and I changed the alternator and the belt took twice as long as the rest of the job. good vid
On this vehicle... Changing the Alternator and Belt is pretty much the worse repair to do... That is... until the water pump goes out...
Is the belt on left or right
Passenger side
There is a flap you can take loose without having to remove the whole wheel well
Go Blue!!!
You always want to have a extra belt. Don't wait till it breaks to order one.
it really helped thanks alot
I love UA-cam! Thanks SSLFamilyDad!
So I take it it's a 1/2 rachet.?
yes a 1/2"

You left out how to put the belt on which is what ur video advertised
I put new belt on correctly belt still slack
It's the correct belt but it's not tight
thanks man!
for the parts
Boy oh Boy.
It's BURIED!!!!!!! 😫
Nitemare GMC
rockauto
These vehicles really suck to work on
Get to the point sheesh
I'm laughing because I said that same thing!
This wasn’t great at all didn’t help with anything 😢
These things are shitty to work on
