  • Hello everyone!
I was gifted the airbrush that I’ve been hankering for and MAN does it have a learning curve haha
I’ve watched a few tutorials, but when it comes down to it the only way to learn is to do.
Hope everyone has had a great week, and has an enjoyable weekend lined up!
    Take care

Sorry for the limited vocabulary! The voiceover may have been done quite early in the morning since there’s a full weekend of plans….🙃
    Hope you enjoy anyways!

My wife walked by while I was painting and watching this video. She loves your voice and wondered if you have done any voice work. Reading some kids books for bedtime relaxing would be cool.

I have not, but maybe I’ll have to consider that!

The airbrush was definitly interesting for me. I started with a lot of information from many different sources and got to a workflow thats slightly different from anything I heard beforehand. I believe the best preparation or advice to give for a beginner is a rundown of everything you can meddle with (pressure, trigger technique, paint, paint consistency, additives) and then kick the baby bird out of its nest

The hardest bit about airbrushing is what Lauren and I called “dishes” where we would have to take things apart and clean every nook and cranny. If you want a good head start you can do warm soapy water in a sonic jewelry cleaner. It shakes out a lot of the paint in those hard to reach places!

Thanks Marie! I’ve done a few dis- and reassemblies to practice! Luckily I’m not pumping as much paint through mine as you guys were!!

I have one of the cheapest airbursh money can buy. Got it to get smoother coats when restoring hotwheels, for miniatures I use it to prime and varnish, sometimes base coat.
One thing to keep in mind if you decide to start mixing your own paint for it and get a bit of clogging. I don't use thinners, again, cheapest money can buy... Water usually suffice. But one product that I like putting into the mix is acrylic retarder as it seems more effective in preventing paint from drying on the needle inside and even though it slows down drying on the surface of the mini too, it's not a big deal as it's a thin layer pretty spread out, still dries relatively fast for you to come with the next layer. (I think those pre mixed airbrush paints you bought may have some retarder in them)

That beholder looks rad so far. I'm painting gnolls for Rangers of Shadowdeep while I watch (since you asked!).

Ooooo gnolls are a fun time!
I’m pretty excited to finish the beholder up. He’s weirdly giving me some retro vibes.
