Part 2: • Montell Jordan on Bein...
Part 4: • Montell Jordan on Pion...
Part 1: • Montell Jordan on Grow...
--------
In this clip, Montell Jordan talked about some of his early musical influences inside and out of the church. He recounted being in a Christian group but was extremely tall and wanted to play basketball. However, he realized early on that he couldn’t play that well and wouldn’t excel in the sport after the reaction he received for getting his first in-game dunk.
Montell Jordan also talked about his days in college at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. While at Pep, Montell recalled pledging Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc and how he went through the old school process before the anti-hazing crackdown.

'This is how we do it' is a good song for anything. You can play it at a wedding, party, working out, driving, cookout, chilling, etc. Its one of the few songs that matches any occasion.

That was an amazing clip. Montel Jordan, certified legend. I hope Prez asks him about that time Martin kept singing "you gotta get ya groove on" on that bloopers episode.
Lmaoo omg I kept thinking about that clip
Me too! Such a funny outtake.
This Is What You Call A Top Tier Interview
I guess this is indeed how we do it.
Frats and Sorotitys are still pledging physically, it’s just a big open secret now. If nationals gets word then the chapter gets snatched. I seen it happen to several Orgs when I was in college
"Sororitys". Nice👍
Yea we see why bro never crossed. Didn’t have the grades
@@busterhikney6936 aww damn I got caught slippin
@@thehottake8197 you aren’t wrong. Too much partying. Womp womp
@@shaneg75 Nah. "Sorotitys" says it without saying it! 👍
This was a great interview. Love seeing brothers respect and appreciate each other. Great on both sides of the camera…
Nothing but love for my ALL my D9 bros and sisters 🤘🏾🤘🏾
this man is very inspirational and i love the honesty and history he shared with us. definitely a huge fan
I got his autograph a long time ago. He was cool as can be to me. 😅
11:29 for yalm who wondering when will it start
Yalm?
Love these interviews grow up listening to montell ...great story never knew can't wait to see the rest

Yo to the Nupe!
Yo Nupe 👌🏾

Yo 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Yooo!!
His story has me tearing up!!!!!! Literally I'm crying that's some real ish right there!
First: I love hearing his story and remember he and his wife being very kind people from the church we attended many years ago.
Second: this man looks the same! His skin is flawless.
He's wrong. Pledging became more dangerous because every line went underground and no one knew the dangerous practices that occurred.
It's safer when all the school officials knew who was actually on line. Going underground meant everything was a free-for-all. No rules meant outrageous behavior from members and more people the ended up getting hurt.
Very true. 90s for all D9 orgs became the wild wild west
Thanks for the breakdown 🙏 "WELL SAID"‼️ I am a talented musician surrounded by a bunch of everybody that, "Don't know what they're gift is?" And that energy makes me second guess my path. But after hearing this it's like 🙄🤣... Oma keep ushin until I go viral 🙏
Commissioned running back to you was my song. My late church drummer cousin introduced it to me . RIP cuz
I am truly enjoying this interview. I love the way he’s painting the pic of each scenario. Kinda like Fat Joe when he tells his stories.
Very impressed with this Montell Jordan interview….shows the importance of a strong father and religious background in a man’s life
Especially living in a tough neighborhood with bad influences glad he turn his life too positive things like making timeless R&B bangers
Seems like Prez’s interviews are more substantive than Vlad’s… just an observation 🤔
Coz this is actually his culture, not just something he was intrigued and curious by and/or fell in love with.
Great interview

BLUΦ Prez!!! Way to share Montel, my pops was a great Nupe!!
“Hit the Shaw coz I’m faded” makes way more sense now knowing he grew up in the 60’s. That’s crazy
Wow, I never looked at it that way. The thing that you do best that you love to do. ✊🏿
"The thing God loves for me to do...the thing I like to do, that God likes me doing"..your calling. That's a good nugget.
Appreciate the share, Greek! Got a cousin and and a family friend who are Nupes, my folks are Phirst Pham, and I’m an Iota myself

Definitely a good dude! I still bump this dude music.
Thank God his parents shielded him and taught him to love The Lord! You can tell he hasn’t lived a hard life. His glow shines through!
I’m tall for a woman. I was always in the back row for class pictures with the boys lol. When I was in middle school the girls basketball coach BEGGED ME to join the team cause he was SURE I’d be a star. Tuhhhhhhh I sucked too & knew I would. I told them mfs from the beginning “I’m a cheerleader, a gymnast, & a dancer”. I had ONE good game & ended up back on the cheerleading team. Thank God for that! 🤣🤣
If you don't know about montell in the Orange jumpsuit hitting a high note you can't watch this

Prez is a DOPE interviewer
“It was a 9th 10th 11th 12th school”. That’s called a highschool 😂
Some high schools have 7th and 8th
Yeah school are not the same all across America anymore in 2022 as well
@@shawnhistory Yea it’s called junior high school lol
@@SoulOfTheSouth yes but they be in the same school/building. I went to a school that had 9th-12th, but I know people who went to schools having 7th-12th in the school. When I first heard it I was thinking that’s crazy. But it does exist.
🤣 I thought the same thing...I was like wait..the regular 4 grades where I'm from? Lol.
Definitely understand the phone book reference 😂
Yo that was a great story to hear how he knew he could do music for a living..crazy bangin
I never heard of Commissioned until last year or earlier this year watching Marvin Sapp's Unsung
That was a beautiful story.
One of vlad finest interview, omg, n this dude should do all the interviews.

Facts. I had the pleasure of interviewing Mitchell Jones from Commissioned back in the day and it is crazy how they influenced a good chunk of 90's R&B (Take 6 too)
