42... the meaning of life, the universe and everything. Not a bad number to sport on your board when you are talking about these delicious looking crab cakes.
Just tried this. I am a novice griddle chef. They were awesome. Had them with a steak. Thank you so much for this video. Telling all my friends about it
Probably the best crab cake recipe I’ve ever seen on you tube! Will love trying this! Chef Nate, have you ever done a recipe on the blackstone using fresh sea Scallops? Would love to see that as well
Holy Crab! - Those look amazing! Unlike some "others" - I think - Crab cakes ROCK! I totally love your rendition. Sadly, it is around 0 F here in eastern Canada right now. I'll have to wait just a little longer before I fire up my griddle - Then I will cook on it almost every day until Sept.
for Maryland Crab Cakes (note capitals!) but these look good and I WILL try them when the temp outside goes above 25 degrees! Bringing 17" to Florida in our RV in May....good time to try it out in Disney campground.
CJ! I hear you about crab meat! I am not a fan either! A few years back, I was a vegan(please don't judge) I made "crab" cakes but I used hearts of palm instead of crab...just sayin' ....I'm going to give it a whirl with the hearts of palm because Nate's crabcakes look really good. I am new to the Blackstone griddle and looking for inspiration... Loving the Blackstone Crew shows! :)
This looks great, and I'll bet we can do this to make salmon cakes as well. What about a bit of flour to hold it all together a bit more? Sure like your ideas, CJ just is not a fish guy, he will never say thats a mouth full of ocean.
Thank you for this video. I dig the recipe. At about 5:50, our opinions diverge: There is no way I would ever mix a salad in an unwashed bowl that had last held raw meat of any kind. But hey, you do you.
No bread but 12 saltines rolled fine added to each LB of meat. Crab cakes were always a way to have another meal from the crab. Backfin was always used to stuff a fish for Sunday dinner.
Y'all did not grow up in Southern KY eating Salmon Patties with canned salmon. Love them or hate em, you got yourself a Crab Patty right there. Elevated of course. Fresh is always better but we eat what we got, right?
I love watching all the Blackstone chefs/cooks? Nathan you do interrupt a lot when CJ is cooking. CJ gotta be able to do it all, man up and eat some seafood. Lastly, as a Maryland crab snob I will never eat a crab cake made outside the state of Maryland again. Such total disappointment when I have in the past and at the price of crab it's not worth the chance anymore. Especially when it's not even at least made by a transplanted Marylander. Floridian making crab cakes! Hahahaha! Whoever heard of such a thing! 😂😂😂Tried to flatten it and call it a fritter thinking 🤔 people might not outright dismiss it! Oh my....how 😜.
@@ItsAPartywithNateandCJ 🤔...👍 Fair enough, you got a deal! It will be end of March when we break out the camper. That's where we keep the Blackstone and it's about 12 degrees with the wind chill today and 6-10" of snow/ice on the way. I know I gave you a hard time 🙂 but have been enjoying the videos and can't wait to try some things out while camping this summer. Have been enjoying the Blackstone so much I cook most of our meals now when we go. Still probably won't order a crab cake outside MD though. 😄🤣
Hahaha I hear you brother. Regional cuisine is something to honor. It’s more than recipes, its long lasting heritage and I dig it. As a Floridian, I would never claim to have the “Best” crab cakes... but... mine are pretty great🤣😂🤣 tag me or let me know when you post your cooks, I’d love to see them my friend!
Hi, Jennifer. We hope to add the recipes in the description box going forward. In the meantime, you can find the recipe for Nate's Crab Cakes with Grapefruit Salad here: blackstoneproducts.com/blogs/recipes/crab-cakes-with-grapefruit-salad?_pos=3&_sid=062d86f4b&_ss=r. Hope this helps. Have a great day.
Could it be that I have been wrong all these years. When I make (what I thought were crab cakes) I use a Panko Bread Crumb filler. It never occurred to me that I was making Crab Fritters instead. DOH!
A great chef once told me that if there was something I didn’t like, I most likely hadn’t had it made correctly. All joking aside, Cj can attest to this. He has grown so much as a cook because he has tried new things made properly... he’s still an 8yr old at times... but he is definitely growing😂🤣😂
Ik it's been 3yrs since you made this video. But on top of all that you did I would have probably would added some avacado crema and made a burger out of that last one.
Buddy you're fantastic and I come to your show to watch you cook and personality. What all do respect your buddy in the background is annoying, impulsive and speaks out of turn interrupting you all the time. Just saying but I do love your show aside from that
I like CJ but he will never be a great chef if he can't cook and serve a large part of dining which is seafood. He can't do these things if he can't or won't taste the foods he cooks. He would be better off as line cook at waffle house.

My wife would LOVE these!
Welp... go make em’ and tag me brother!
So many great food ideas from this show love my Blackstone griddle
Going camping this week and going to try these crab cakes on our group!! Along with the salad with the grapefruit dressing.
The camera work is sooo good! Not the same as CJ's show lol, ha ha ha. Great job guys. Love all your video's!
Haha, I see you what you did there.
I don’t get it
Probably the best crab cake recipe I’ve ever seen on you tube! Will love trying this! Chef Nate, have you ever done a recipe on the blackstone using fresh sea Scallops? Would love to see that as well
Wow! Thanks Dani! I LOVE scallops and definitely have it on my list. Be on the lookout for the full video soon
@@ItsAPartywithNateandCJ can’t wait!!
Good crab cakes/fitters are hard to come by these sound absolutely amazing!! 🤤 Beautiful plating with the salad on the bottom 😃😍🌞💛🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Thanks Laneey
I'm just as excited to try the dressing you made for the salad as the crab cakes.
Outstanding instructions. Will be trying this New Year’s Eve. Thanks

Thanks so much Garry! This FL boy couldn’t make it in that kind of weather... cj can’t do crab... I can’t do cold 😂🤣😂
OMG.....those crab cakes!!!!! Drooooooooooool Great job on these babies!

I can’t wait till my blackstone gets that deep black color. I watched the steak and lobster video and bought the griddle air fryer combo last week
C.J. post dusts. Nate post drizzles. And both make some fantastic looking food!
Delieshness!!!
You know it!

Thanks Steve! These are awesome little treats
another one for my ever growing list.......
Thanks brother! These are surprisingly simple and are always a hit

@@ItsAPartywithNateandCJ Yup, I am 72. I did enjoy your take on the crab cake. I will try it if I can find crab meat on sale .
Don't know what happened to first part of my comment...but I'm all in for Maryland Crab Cakes, lol
😶CJjjjjjjjjj just try the crab caaaaaaaakes!! The blackstone makes everything taste much better! 💯
Hahahaha right!!!!?
Those look awesome guys. What brand knife are you using?
This knife is a Bone-A-Fyde knife. Look them up on Facebook!

Where can the recipe be located and printed?
Very nice...😊👌
I concur🤣😂🤣 thanks for watching!
Garlic! But thank you. I love you.
Would you consider the same “filler” and mixture but for salmon patties?
Can I use greek yogurt in place of mayo
Nate, just tell CJ he gets no dessert if he doesn't eat his crab nugget. 🤣
Yup... next time
The grapefruit we get in the north is always very tart and sour.
CJ don’t be a MEOW eat the thing.
This looks delicious. My only objection is not serving it with a remoulade 😁.
Looks amazing, can’t wait to give it a try at home. Loose the gloves tho bruh 😎
Hahaha the gloves bother you?
How much crab meat did you use? I dont see a recipe posted. Thanks

Are both crab meats from a can?
Never from a metal can. I use these nice little plastic tubs I get at Publix here in FL and it’s a really great product.
Put it on a bun, call it a krabby patty and maybe CJ will eat it.
🤣😂🤣 I’ve got to get sneaky with this guy
im not a seafood guy but you are about to change my mind... i really wish Cj would have tried it so id have another non seafood guys opinion
Bro... this makes me so happy
Not just any grapefruit, a Ruby Red.
I assume a person could substitute fish (crappie or walleye) for the crab?
💯 just be sure to keep an eye on your binder and consistency. You don’t want them to crumble
Love ya CJ, but when it comes to seafood, you ARE, The One Legged Chicken.🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀
You got that right. 😂
Please Sir, I want some more....
Could it be that I have been wrong all these years. When I make (what I thought were crab cakes) I use a Panko Bread Crumb filler. It never occurred to me that I was making Crab Fritters instead. DOH!
Crack your egg last so you can taste your Mayo blend for tatse just a tip . Great job tho
Nate it looks really good but I'm like CJ I don't want any 🤣😂. Growing my mom always cooked salmon patties 🤢🤮

I go to Blackstone & search 'crab' - null.

Wow! Not a single quote? Run out of movies? You’re not bowing to the critics I hope. Recipe looks great but wow, no quotes, not even one
😳😞😟😢😭
I think they did sadly 😔
We tried to keep it more low key. Testing waters on a new concept for his show. I never run out of movie quotes 😎😂
Run out!? Never
Could I substitute mussels for crabs? I’m not a millionaire flaunts all of that fleshy crab meat around.
Your cooking too fast, need more filler to the video 🤪😔
🤣😂😂

I love Waffle House. Haha sorry, I won’t be cooking seafood anytime soon. And by anytime I mean, ever. But James, you’re still a great guy.
James, if we all work together, we can help Cj’s palate mature slowly 😂🤣😂
@@CJ_Frazier I love waffle house too
