- Its Piston Vs Rotor and David Vs Goliath in this epic struggle for superiority in the sport compact drag racing scene. Brisbane Jamboree has been one of the most iconic events worldwide for decades now.
August 5th and 6th 2023 saw Australias fastest 2JZ, Barras, Rotaries, K24's, and more battle it out for the coverted billet J trophy.

Some of the action from Jamboree. Unfortunately IHRA have changed rules around where media are allowed to stand, and we can no longer stand inside the walls. Which means can’t use a tripod, which means shaker footage, footage where you have to chase the car every time, and also a much larger concentration of media in the same place (because everyone is now outside the walls). Disappointing because it’s normally the photographers on the outside and videographers on the inside so we both have clear line of site. Not much footage here because was just too much of a 5h1t show trying to get good footage, as the photographers generally chop and change where they stand (which can result in them standing right behind you, and when you pan to chase a car down the strip they are right in the middle of the shot). Is what it is, and only got announced a few days before the event so will have to come up with a different plan going forward.

They are not meant to be anymore either. Crew are meant to be standing either side of the lane only, either up against the wall or against the inside.

Having been to a few Jambo’s in the late 90’s to early 2000’s and seeing massive crowds and competitors I have to say that (from my insignificant perspective) the franchising of the event has really changed the level of entrants from interstate for the worse. The quality of cars is awesome but the spectacle is diminished. Interested in your take on this Broomy.
Are you saying you feel less people travel now and wait for an event on their ‘home ground’?
The entrant list numbers have been limited otherwise they would be racing till midnight.. especially with oil downs...also live streaming doesn't help numbers through the gate.. in saying that.. the crowd numbers were huge this year.. it's just a shame that show n shine isn't on both days
i stopped going when they allowed 6s and 8s. jamboree used to be the best before the bogan 8s came along

Evolve or Die. It’s not like they are carby fed n/a 253’s, they are all high tech efi turbo beasts (and most of them never break down and stop racing for an hour either….)
