- Jamboree attracts some of the fastest cars in Australia. Billet V8's, Crazy HP 2JZ's, Barras, RB's & INSANE Rotaries are some of the combinations you'll see within pit lane. But it hasn't always been like that.
Jamboree was started in 1991 by a VW club to fill a void in the small car scene, The event slowly transformed into a 4 cylinder, rotary and sports compact drag racing event but as the years went on the cars became quicker and larger 6 cylinder and v8 combinations combos started racing.
Jamboree is now one of the largest drag racing events in Australia that hosts some of the best built cars from interstate to showcase Sports compact racing at its best.

That mk1 escort van is absolutely beautiful... my old man has a mk2 escort rs2000 converted to flat front and big forest arches stripped out caged, running a cosworth kba (if you know you know😆)on 58 dc03 webber carbs fast road cams, type 9 5dpeed out of a sierra and a capri atlas axel only makes about 240bhp and weighs 880kg lol. 0-60mph is about 4.5 seconds tops out at about 120mph😂 build for the little country back roads here in scotland 🏴

Small Fords were and always will be my favorite, I always drove a Mk2 escort, Mk5 Cortina wagon or Sierra wagon. Now my daily is a Mk7 Fiesta ST, the light weight is insane fun and insane handeling on corners, awesome car!

I had the opportunity to attend jamboree in the early 2000's. Tony Rigolis WRX taught me that not all exhausts exit the rear of a car! He hit the limiter in the pits and I copped the full experience from the side exit exhaust straight to the face! But yeah that's my story, still have a fat stiffy all these years later!

Love my 1960 Hillman Husky 2 dr wagon pro street car. Has SBC with tunnel ran with 2 Edelbrock carbs. Mustang II front end. Ford 9 inch with 31x18.5 rear tires tucked of course inside the fenders. Car is a real head turner but wish it was an Anglia Panel but closest thing I could find built within my budget.

I first went in 2000, instantly fell in love with rotors, sadly couldn't afford one as a fresh faced 18 yr old and still can't at 41 🤦♂️🤣

1999 was my first Jambo.. Saw Al this year in the staging lanes. Totally fan girled.. He kind of looked at me like 'oh crap' 😂 So I kept walking. Figured maybe he was unhappy my mate 1200 just oiled the track 😅
