      Great video, thank you. This is something I've been wondering for a while as I wait on my new Model 3 which is "due" in May. As I'm still trying to figure everything out about this car, one question I do have is regarding Sentry Mode. Do you ever use it, and if so how often and when? Also, how much battery does it use over time? Thanks in advance.

    Another model 3 youtuber recently found out that his "vampire drain" (he lost 1km per hour) has been caused by the "Teslafi" App which is communicating way too often with the car, not letting it sleep at all.

    10 mins in a glance
    Went on a trip for 8 days.
    Valet mode on,
    Didn't use the app to check until returning
    Battery only dropped 3% for the entire trip.
    -Cruise control not working properly
    -Speed limit on maps not showing (worked again after charging the following day)

    My husband and I are getting our tesla model 3 today (eee!) and we just wanted to say that your tesla videos are our favorite by far! We’ve watched all of them and absolutely love them. We’ll be using ours as a one-car-family car too, so that video is our favorite. “Spawnpoiint” is now a household name for us haha. There is yes, you just hold the steering wheel buttons for 30 seconds. I would have done this the next morning, but it had sorted itself by then. You can technically do it while driving but I wasn’t risking it as I wanted to get home.

    We’re here for the Tesla videos! My car was at the shop for a week when I was getting it wrapped. I had sentry mode on, checked the app literally every couple of hours. When they were wrapping the doors the HVAC was on for hours at a time, I only lost 1-3% daily. If that. I lost like 16% over the whole week.

      That is bullshit. Sentry mode keeps the car awake and it uses 300W just for that. If you have 24hours of sentry that is 24*300 that is 8kWh or around 12% each day. +hvac. No way in hell did you loose 1% -3% which is less than 2kWh or about 8 hours of operation...

    If you ever do this again, when you return to the car after several days of inactivity, if you are seeing issues with the speed limit indicators or cruise control, try resetting the screen and see if that fixes anything. Click and hold the two steering wheel dials until the screen goes black and reboots. Just curious if that would have fixed your issues. Great info. Thanks for the video.

    Good video. I'm getting the Model 3 myself (delivery due end of March, that's assuming society hasn't collapsed from the Coronavirus haha) and I'm going on holiday for two weeks so I always wondered how much my battery would drain over that time. But good to know it will be minimal.
    Is it possible that your cameras were obscured with dirt, which prevented autopilot from engaging. When I test drove the Model 3, the autopilot wouldn't engage and an error message popped up saying that I needed to clean the passenger side camera. Could also be the reason why your car wasn't picking up speed signs? Just a guess.

      It wasn’t dirt as those error messages say so. They usually say the ‘front left camera is obscured’ or similar. This just said it wasn’t available. The next day it worked after a charge (and not cleaned). I imagine it was a software issue.

      It uses around 1 mile per hour. So up to 24 miles of range per day is possible. I don’t use it at home (you can disable it for certain locations like favourites) as I have cameras at home anyway.

      What exactly is your concern? In my experience real world range is approx. 10%-15% lesser than claimed or what you see displayed. Could be more depending on the conditions, driving style etc. Driving on the highway is least efficient as you are not using Regen breaking.. Counter-intuitive when compared to an ICE car.

  • @ExplodingPiggy

    Your issue seems to be endemic to electric vehicles of all types. If we leave a train shut off for a while in the cold they take ages to initialise and the software does act odd or doesn't work at all. A reset usually sorts out all the issues. Maybe this would help the Tesla.

      You have to preheat a lot to get a 7 days cold battery to temperature. It will suck a lot of energy on a short 50mile trip. He still had some regen, but probably just 15-25kW. Plus you don't really need that much if you don't drive in the city. Preheating, outside of just heating the cabin for 3 minutes, would suck too much.

    Love your content so my question is will I be damaging my battery over time if I were to leave it parked and unplugged at my job for 20 a day? I’m a regional truck driver so I would be away from my Tesla for a while. That’s been my biggest question cause if leaving the battery unplugged would slowly damage it then it probably wouldn’t make sense for me to own one.

    • @SpawnPoiint
      @SpawnPoiint  6 місяців тому +1

      No it wouldn't make any difference at all. Turn sentry off (so it goes into deep sleep) and it'll lose almost no battery at all. Won't cause any harm.

    I was wondering if you could help me out here.. How I can see the amount of KWH used each day or month for charging the car? I want to see the total KWH I used exclusively for charging. The Tesla app doesn't tell me and neither does the car when I click on the charge icon..I am sure it's buried somewhere but I don't know where.

  • @Unkn0wnC0mmand
    @Unkn0wnC0mmand 4 роки тому

    Using the app to check on the car uses virtually zero power. Using Scan My Tesla app, the computer systems the app wakes up to check on the vehicle consume 2 watts of power, or 1/5 of an LED lightbulb. If you checked the car via the app once every day for a month, it would equate to less than 1.8% of battery drain. Before update 2019.5.xx, the computers sometimes didn’t return to a sleep state after waking- this has resolved and all systems return to sleep around 30 seconds after an app wake. The point is, don’t feel bad about checking your model 3 via the app. It has low power processing cores that handle app access. I have a 2019 Model 3 Performance and it has been by FAR the best car I’ve ever owned.
    My wishlist for future updates is to include pillar camera footage in sentry mode and allow us to view/delete sentry mode footage on the center screen- I can’t believe both of these haven’t been added already. Not having pillar camera footage leaves a huge blind spot in sentry mode and driving camera footage.

Otherwise you can use a phone inside the car, connect that one to a wifi sdcard plugged in and then connect your main phone to that phone in the car via some teamviewer app or use some sort of relay server to browse the files on the sdcard.

    Question to you is, did you check the mileage driven? In other words, you said the valet's drove it... Did they note your power level before taking the car out on some joy rides while they had it in their possession, then recharging up to a level below what you would expect it to be?

    • @SpawnPoiint
      @SpawnPoiint  4 роки тому
