@Alex & Rah Street Fighter the Movie is really dumb but really enjoyable. I unironically think this is the best version of Bison. How would someone as flat as the Bison from the anime SF2 movie have the motivation to take over the world?
If I was writing it, the conflict would be Ryu vs the world and Ryu vs himself. I'd start it with little Ryu and Ken as street kids, they're family because they're all they've ever had. They've gotten by more or less by stealing and they've gotten pretty good at it. That is until they eventually pick pocket the wrong dude. Cue Gouken. He's not about to lay into a couple of street kids, plus getting by doesn't mean living well and they might as well be feral children. So offering an olive branch, the old man takes them both to a nearby restaurant. He feeds them and then says that he's a martial arts instructor and could use some assistants. They aren't really buying it, especially with him being some weird old guy, but Gouken understands their reluctance and just tries his best to help them. Maybe they get roughed up by some street toughs and things don't go in their favor. They show up on his door step then and he decides then and there to more or less raise them as sons. Time jump, we see now teenage Ryu and Ken sparring. Showcase the fight, make it cool and smooth and kind of cinematic. And show that while they are close in terms of strength, Ken is sort of a wilder and more passionate fighter, while Ryu is reserved and skilled but both are fun loving. They love to fight. They're enjoying themselves every time they do this and this is just another day like any other for them. Ken loses. But like always he and Ryu are just jazzed about how fun it was. Gouken looks on, both proud and a bit concerned. Later that night at dinner we find out why. Gouken wants them to get out. No, he's not throwing them out. Instead he explains that they've been training and living with him for quite awhile now. And both of them are strong and brilliant young men and he doesn't want their only experiences to be them secluded like hermits on a mountain top. He wants them to get out and see the world, to live life, to make discoveries and mistakes. Ken takes to this immediately and says he thinks he wants to go to Hollywood. Ryu however doesn't want to leave, he makes excuses and we see that maybe a bit more than Ken, being on the streets got to him. Gouken assures them both that they're home and they can leave or not as they please. So Ken goes off and Ryu stays. Ryu trains more and more now since he doesn't have Ken around to draw him out of his shell. Time jump again and this time we have Gouken and Ryu fighting. And Gouken is going all out and they're just even. He can't believe how far Ryu's come in so short of a time. The fight ends with Gouken having to obviously work to win and he and Ryu are sitting down for dinner where there is a commotion outside and we see Ken newly returned and sporting a new car, he's dressed to the nines, and he and Ryu have a straight to the point reunion with Ken happy to see Ryu and their Master and to let them know he's kind of a big deal in hollywood now. Finally able to repay his Master, Ken is the one taking him to a restaurant this time. He'd build him a mansion if he's allow it, for which Gouken is immediately thankful, but he refuses. He's an old martial arts master, he has what he needs, he's just glad to see Ken really living. And he and Ken both think then of Ryu. Ken and Ryu fight again, this time it isn't even close. They still have a blast, but Ryu is clearly stronger now. But Ken surprises him with moves they'd never learned together or new twists on moves they've been doing since they were kids. This gets Ryu immediately interested and Ken explains that while he hasn't been training as much, he still very much does get to fight and train with strong fighters. He explains how he's met guys and girls from all of the world and how just fighting against different styles leads you to make changes. And where nothing else has really motivated him before, Ryu realizes that yeah maybe Gouken and Ken were right. Maybe he does need to see the world and maybe he was just being silly. His home isn't going anywhere, his master isn't going anywhere so maybe he should do what Ken did. Experience so things and so he explains to Ken that yeah, he'll leave with him when he goes. They go to tell their master, only to have him be in the middle of a fight with a strange intruder. Cue Akuma. He does what he does. The three of them together can't even touch him. And it was only toward the end when Gouken is mortally wounded that Ryu taps into the Dark Hado and Akuma takes a shine to him. Still it isn't enough. And he leaves all of them beaten and broken. The only saving grace being Ken's girlfriend that comes looking for him only to get them all to a hospital. Ken and Ryu recover, but their master is in a coma. The doctors say that he'll likely never wake up. Ryu vows vengeance and Ken tells him how does he think they can beat a guy like that. Ryu explains that they'll just have to get stronger. And so Ryu becomes a wanderer in search of new skills and more in order to avenge his master. Or rather maybe that's his original motivation and as time goes along and he meets more and more people he'll tame the monster that rages in him. Or maybe it will consume him and he'll become the very thing he hates. I think it hits all of the beats you'd want and it also introduce's Ryu's conflicts. He'd finally found a home and so he clung to it afraid to go out into a world that was never that kind to him to begin with. Then his love of fighting made it seem like that world wasn't so scary after all, all for the world to prove him correct in vicious fashion. Now his home is gone and all he has is revenge, but all the while he's left to ask himself if its a vengeance his master would even want. Plus like Ken said, the world is full of new and interesting fighters, each one a new challenge to drive him ever forward. I think going this way, you don't have to have the cast be cameos, indeed they can all be episodes. You can introduce Bison as this background threat. Let each of his generals be antagonists and let other characters be introduced as friends, rivals, and reluctant allies. Even Sakura works if you introduce her as someone that Ryu helps and she then realizes that she wants to be like him. She isn't new to fighting, but seeing him fight, she wants to be able to do that.
LupineShadowOmega I think the original lore would also make sense such as Ken’s father being a friend of Gouken and he enrolled in the dojo in order for Ken to learn discipline and not be spoiled by his family’s wealth and that’s where he becomes brothers with Ryu
@@Ponaru Kinda needlessly harsh isn't it? Plus it isn't very constructive at all, imagine cooking something and you get 'It's retarded' with no explanation
honestly closest antagonist to ryu is sagat being the last street fighter champion that ryu defeated and sagat wanted revenge, but in the end as 5 pretty much showed, sagat stopped caring at this point.
It's not exactly that. Ryu threw their next fight, and after meeting Dan, who wanted revenge for Sagat having killed his father, he had an epiphany. He forgave Ryu and threw his fight with Dan, realizing that revenge is a fruitless and empty endeavor. It's actually a really great character arc.
Nieru so Sagat makes a more compelling character protagonist than Ryu? And Ryu makes a compelling and sympathetic antagonist than Bison and Akuma combined? Huh...just goes to show that almost every character than Ryu in the game makes a more interesting protagonist than him, especially Sagat, which is why he’s my favorite, plus he has more moveset and impressive attacks. Sure his aims are difficult since he’s taller, but he still has other approach than Ryu
@@Fzy-j The protagonists tend to be the blandest characters in almost any story with an ensemble cast. Harry Potter? Everyone is more interesting than him. Evangelion? Everyone is more interesting than Shinji. Hell, even in the original Star Wars Han and Leia were more interesting than Luke. Luke didn't become interesting until later.
Even though so generic looking, Ryu is such a good and memorable character because many of us can relate to his way of approaching martial arts, to understand and internalize them. He's basically the warrior inside every one of us and what we desire to be while we drag along our ordinary modern lives.
I don't really consider SF to have a protagonist. If I did. It would be Guile or Chun-Li since they have the most to gain from taking Bison down. Bison is power hungry and Ryu is just the strongest fighter. He's like Goku. He just wants to fight strong warriors and get better at what he does. Bison goes after Ryu because wants that power. It's a diverse world. Different characters have different goals and Bison is the character that pulls them all together. As for Shadowloo being in SFA. The main bad guy is a scientist of Shadowloo and he tries to overstep and take over. That said, the story feels like such a cheap fanfic in SFA that it doesn't really matter.
Actually, that was what Capcom intended originally. I do not know if there has been some kind of retcon, but the original lore was Ryu winning the first Street Fighter tournament, Chun-Li was the champion of the second one (so she defeated Bison after Guile could not do it) and Alex winning the third. (Of course those tournaments match with the games, I,II and III). I stopped caring about the story by then, and I think I heard some kind of retcon was done so that story might not be the official one now. But it was at some point: sometime in the late 90´s (97-99) Capcom released an official Street Fighter artbook with all kinds of data about the characters and the world they lived in, and at that time Ryu was only the champion and main character in the first video game.
Ryu is the protagonist of street fighter 1, Guile and Chun are deuteragonists for 2, Alex is the main character for Street Fighter 3, Juri is the main character for Street Fighter 4 and I'm honestly not sure who the main character of 5 is supposed to be. Pretty sure it's Rashid or Charlie but honestly that story is just such a mess.
It changes from game to game. 1 was clearly Ryu. 2 was Guile and Chun-Li [because as you previously stated they needed to take down Bison for their endings to occur. 3 was clearly Alex. 4 was Abel because he was trying to find out about his past and his apart connections to Shadaloo. 5 is Rashid and Karin since Rashid is trying to rescue his [unbeknownst to him] dead friend and is the one to shut down the Dark Moon and Karin since she pretty much leads the charge against Shadaloo.
Slight correction, the boy freaking out in the field is NOT the fake brother character. He's just there to show Saddler did this to more than one kid. Doesn't make the anime good.
shoutout to you bennett for dealing with your health issues and still putting out a new video. You deserve a jojo vs steely dan amount of pats on the back for your hard work.
This film is a snore. But Udon Comics demonstrated that you could make good stories out of the SF franchise. After reading them, I realized that it's kinda weird that we didn't get a fighting game with an elaborate storyline like MK9 earlier. The characters in fighting games are iconic and cool-looking, yet Cloud Strife is the one who gets 40 hours of story dedicated to him? Yes, RPGs are designed to be longer than fighting games + arcade mechanics, etc. But something feels out of place that we knew so little about video game legends like Ryu and Chun Li beyond an ending screen from a couple of games.
Dan Hibiki is my spirit anima; the loveable loser who catn do shit right and has no buissness being there with the top dogs but still tries his damn best and believes in himself 200% dude is basically a aggressive pug puppy in human form
Maybe the story could've been better if it focused on Sakura following Ryu. She then teams up with Dan Habiki, getting caught up in a plot by Shadaloo.
Fun fact: Shun(Ryu's alleged little brother) is loosely based on Sean Matsuda from SFIII, so this is the first appearance of Sean/Shun in the anime. SFIII's Sean is not a brother, but a distant cousin to Ryu, Sean's granddad is a cousin to Master Gouken and Akuma( whom are established by the creators but simply implied to be Ryu's Uncle and biological father respectfully). Also SFIII'S Matoko is also heavily implied to be Ryu's half-sister on his mother's side. Street Fighter Alpha Generations(very loosely based on SF Alpha 3's early part) pretty much says Akuma/Gouki is Ryu's father and shows his mother pregnant with him when Akuma finally turns on his father/master Goutetsu and succumbs to the Satsui no Hado.
18:10 i thought that was meant to imply shun seeking out ryu was sadler's idea and that shun was one of many kids sadler forced to learn to fight to lure ryu here, for instance the kid ryu mistook as shun had freckles where shun doesnt (y they had the same voice and hair is beyond me, maybe sadler had a model he wanted to get right)
You're right. But the anime doesn't make it clear enough. Personally, I think that Shun was a genetically created clone, and the boy Ryu saw was the real Shun.
Beareded Ryu looks like Kenshiro. Also half the character designs were lifted from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Look at Guile. Look at Rose. Look at Juri.
Bearded Ryu looks like Eric Jacobus(stuntman/fight choreographer/actor) who does the ''Real Life Streetfighter'' videos here on YT and ironically, the motion capture for the new MK 11.(he was also the motion capture artist for Kratos,in GoW 4)
As far as Sadler's plan is concerned, wouldn't it make sense to kidnap Ken instead of some random street urchin. Was the whole unknown long-lost brother thing really that necessary?
Having him kidnap Ken or Sakura after watching Ryu tap into the Satsui No Hado against Zangief would have made much more sense than what we got. The long lost brother plot was a waste because Ryu knew the whole time he wasn't his brother.
Off topic but would you ever consider reviewing silver fang?? The ridiculously bloody 80s shonen battle series about... Dogs?! It’s an absolute gem! Love the channel Sage!
I watched this a while back when Netflix was buying up ova liscenses. Boy did I not remember the camera being planted in her thighs like she is a dominatrix about to "crush skull between thighs". I remembered the animation and that's about it. Side note when do you think anime abandon will be old enough to get to blaz blue? That's the anime fighting games I play, anime is pretty incomprehensible but so is all of blaz blue.
2 the animated movie is awesome, classic anime. He already stated his bias towards mk so his opinion can't go far when it comes to SF. 2v was pretty good....to a point. It falls apart at the end.
Easy answer Sage. He was inside the goon from the start. That mind wiped brat was not the same brat. If you look closely he's just a look-alike to make you go "oh no not him too" but then he turns around with blue eyes and freckles and then you're like "Oh I guess it's not him."
The story of any up-and-coming tournament player is almost always going to be more compelling than the story in the game they're playing. I would be so hype for a shonen battle series about some FGC punk that eventually culminates in EVO Moment #37.
@@Klonoahedgehog I want to see high camp villains reading their evil monologues from the @ScrubQuotesX Twitter account. I want to see dramatic, sweeping camera work over dudes pressing buttons on arcade sticks like we're watching Kira eat a potato chip in Death Note. I want to hear the mentor character explain why everyone is going through so much trouble to gather at an arcade when netplay is an option -- because netplay is fucking bullshit. This is already a manga. It's called Dennou Kakugi Mephisto Waltz or something.
11:31 Yep, my exact reaction to this plot line. Nice to see you give it the proper thrashing it deserves. This was the first anime i've seen on DVD back in 2003... and i still feel cheated. And can't wait for next episode!
Is it just me, or does Cartoon Sage REALLY pull of that pink Gi in the thumbnail? Like, I'm not sure if it's the contrast between the dark green background and the touches of black, but it really seems to suit him, somehow. Also, now I'm suddenly curious how Sage looks in pink and if he pulls it off really well too (despite me not normally giving a crap about fashion whatsoever).
in terms of antagonists. i would have to say ryu does have one, though not in the literal sense. certain games have shown us a what-if version of ryu (dubbed evil ryu) which is basically when ryu became so desperate to secure a win that he lets the satsui no hado overtake him, and turning him into a murderous psychopath. no, officially, evil ryu does not exist. but, id imagine it's as close as an antagonist for ryu we are ever going to get. what greater enemy is there then yourself?
Hope you're feeling better Sage, been marathoning anime abandon all week awaiting the review of one my favorite Anime Punching bags. I recently watched SF II the series and all the films and 2 is the best. That's hilarious.
Hey Sage, you’re looking good and even more fit than you were when you posted that video a year or so ago, wanted to say as a fan and someone who has always liked your work, please keep up the fantastic videos... one of these days when I have some extra cash if I can, I’ll buy an oldtaku shirt as I sort of feel like an oldtaku in today’s anime world, not all of them are great to me, some are cool but there are some just plain bad ones... but again thank you for being my #1 source for obscure anime :)
You know, the more I watch these movies, the more I'm convinced that the problem isn't the plots of the games, it's that they made them into movies, which means they have to cut out most of the connective tissue that actually strings the plots together (and also the weird decisions they keep making to just add a bunch of shit that wasn't there, before). A series of mini-episodes (like maybe 10-15 minutes each) stretched over 6-12, 30-minute episode OVA would probably make these stories a lot more coherent.
Why the hell do fighting game anime feel the need to shoehorn kids in it for the main chars? Shouldn't Sakura be that for Ryu? Fatal Fury does it too, and I'm sure another one brings in a dumb kid sidekick.
Yes and the monitor cyborg from SF II Anime movie. Seth is created from the DNA of Saddler, Bison, and the kid who became Abel. Saddler is also the older, mad scientist brother of SF III's Gill and Urien, according to the creators.
WHen it comes to character designs, I honestly prefer the ones made for Street Fighter and SNK Fighting games, and the ones here a pretty col, when they don't look ugly as sin.
Any time a shin megami tensei refrence is made it always brings a smile to my face. Akuma being a guest character in SMT 5 would be really stupid but hilariously funny XD
'sigh' Bennett Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Realm is not an anime. It was animated in Japan, and may resemble an anime, but most of it's production stems from America, which is likely why there hasn't been a Mortal Kombat anime nor will there be, since all of the franchises rights are with Warner Bros.
Have you not done Tekken on this show? I could swear you did, but looking for it, I can't found it. Is this another case of me imagining a whole review from you that never existed?
Have you ever reviewed street fighter II v. It’s the first anime I picked up in vhs volumes once a month lol. Then I picked up the dvd and the American dub is different than the British and it’s all confusing
you did not mention the insulting cliffhanger of Ryu lunging at Akuma right at the end of the movie only to cut to credits.I almost threw my remote at the screen.
When it comes to character design i fighting games, i think my favorite would be Guilty Gear. Such a unique and colorful cast with imaginative designs. I don't even like fighting games and I would still play that just for the characters alone
on note, the initial brat that ryu runs into at the lab is NOT shun. notice he has freckles? also why ryu stopped in confusion because that freckled kid had a similar chi signature to shun. shun was being incorporated into the cyborg body at that time and ryu hadn't found him. but i get how that can throw someone off initially viewing it since they gave "freckles" almost the same exact look to shun. it's only the freckles that give away it's not shun and nothing else.

@@Fzy-j My favorite Street Fighter character is Chun Li. I'd like to see an arc more about her.
He's only generic because everyone else copies him
15:47 - 16:33: Truly, Guile's theme really DOES go well with everything.
TrueBlueMajikDewd lol but gills a different story Boy
It changes from game to game. 1 was clearly Ryu. 2 was Guile and Chun-Li [because as you previously stated they needed to take down Bison for their endings to occur. 3 was clearly Alex. 4 was Abel because he was trying to find out about his past and his apart connections to Shadaloo. 5 is Rashid and Karin since Rashid is trying to rescue his [unbeknownst to him] dead friend and is the one to shut down the Dark Moon and Karin since she pretty much leads the charge against Shadaloo.
Leading has nothing to do with being the protagonist.
Slight correction, the boy freaking out in the field is NOT the fake brother character. He's just there to show Saddler did this to more than one kid. Doesn't make the anime good.
The boy freaking out in the field is not Shun. He’s just there to show how evil Sadler can be in this movie.
shoutout to you bennett for dealing with your health issues and still putting out a new video.
Dan Hibiki is my spirit anima; the loveable loser who catn do shit right and has no buissness being there with the top dogs but still tries his damn best and believes in himself 200%
dude is basically a aggressive pug puppy in human form
Street Fighter V the series is what you SHOULD be talking about!!!
Why did i kept expecting Ken's eyebrows start to flap and him flying away O_o
I think this settles it. Street Fighter II V is the best representation of the series.
DarthNinja65 it’s good I enjoyed it
It was almost great until the show ran out of money and went into clip show after clip show after clip show...
It was Good For a Original story
1:38 Looking at you, Sora from Smash Ultimate
Maybe the story could've been better if it focused on Sakura following Ryu. She then teams up with Dan Habiki, getting caught up in a plot by Shadaloo.
Pretty sure that's the plot of the manga.
@@Klonoahedgehog exactly.
What happened to her? I think I blinked and she wasn’t in the rest of the movie.
8:29 So she basically went to the Travis Touchdown Cram School? As in watch all of Ryu's fights on tape till they wore out?
Basically. Though Sakura is considered something of a martial arts prodigy, so she had natural talent to make the training go by faster.
They can’t out the same year.. maybe they took the design from street fighter
Please please PLEASE do a review of Street Fighter II V some day. That turd of a series really deserves it!
Fun fact: the voice actress who dubs Sakura, voiced Crimson Viper in 4 years later.
You mean Ginga Nagareboshi Gin???
Next YES! I didn’t know the Japanese name lol
And yet, here I am, foolishly waiting for a Guilty Gear anime.
Although considering what they did to BlazBlue, maybe this is a kinder fate...
Guilty Gear Strive Story mode is basically an anime
I watched this a while back when Netflix was buying up ova liscenses. Boy did I not remember the camera being planted in her thighs like she is a dominatrix about to "crush skull between thighs". I remembered the animation and that's about it.
Side note when do you think anime abandon will be old enough to get to blaz blue? That's the anime fighting games I play, anime is pretty incomprehensible but so is all of blaz blue.
If Sage watches Street Fighter: Alpha Generation, he better take back all the bad things he said about Street FIghter 2: The Animated Movie.
That would be good for a laugh, looking forward to it.
2 the animated movie is awesome, classic anime. He already stated his bias towards mk so his opinion can't go far when it comes to SF. 2v was pretty good....to a point. It falls apart at the end.
The SF2 is still complete shit, fuck off
To be fair, Taco Bell Mild Sauce exists because it's tasty, not to scorch someone's taste buds.
Mecks089 lol
That’s what calienté is for
The animator for this movie also did the first two seasons Baki the Grappler, alternating between other studios.
When you walk away, you don't hear me say "TATSUMAKI SENPUUKYAKU!"
15:17 Ryu does his best impression of a goat.
Love your work, Sage!
Wouldnt know half as much about anime if this wasn't for you!
Easy answer Sage. He was inside the goon from the start. That mind wiped brat was not the same brat. If you look closely he's just a look-alike to make you go "oh no not him too" but then he turns around with blue eyes and freckles and then you're like "Oh I guess it's not him."
In all the years watching this show, I finally saw an anime before Bennett!!
In all of the anime I've seen the spinning bird kick has a handstand start.
Wait, Sadler in a Capcom movie?...They should've called Leon.
I used to own the movie and for the longest, I thought that the kid in 19:30 was a different kid who just happened to look like Shun to throw off Ryu.
Shun from Saint Seiya ?
@@johnnyfountainS No, the boy's name is Shun.
maybe I'm mis-remembering but didn't this anime imply Akuma and Ryu were related?
@@ranwolf1240 yup. Father and son.
I always assumed that Shun was a clone of the crazy boy, created to lore Ryu out of hiding.
I still enjoyed SF Alpha back when I discovered anime years ago. It was fun.
The story of any up-and-coming tournament player is almost always going to be more compelling than the story in the game they're playing.
I would be so hype for a shonen battle series about some FGC punk that eventually culminates in EVO Moment #37.
Why the hell do we not have this as a series yet? I would watch it.
It's called Dennou Kakugi Mephisto Waltz or something.
...is Ken voiced by Blum? 8°
11:31 Yep, my exact reaction to this plot line. Nice to see you give it the proper thrashing it deserves. This was the first anime i've seen on DVD back in 2003... and i still feel cheated. And can't wait for next episode!
4:21 He's also a Legendary Spirit in *_Super Smash Bros Ultimate!!!_*
Hi Kirby. Watch all 4 Samurai Shodown movies on my channel.
@@johnnyfountainS There are 4 Samurai Shodown movies??? I didn't know that!
The Belmonts will have your head you cheesing pink bastard.
Ya know what's memorable about Ryu. Him destroying you in sf2.
"OF COURSE"
@20:24 you should've shot Savage anyways for that happy trigger moment with the pink shotgun lol
in terms of antagonists. i would have to say ryu does have one, though not in the literal sense.
certain games have shown us a what-if version of ryu (dubbed evil ryu) which is basically when ryu became so desperate to secure a win that he lets the satsui no hado overtake him, and turning him into a murderous psychopath.
no, officially, evil ryu does not exist. but, id imagine it's as close as an antagonist for ryu we are ever going to get. what greater enemy is there then yourself?
Been waiting for this.
What a way to start my day.
Missed opportunity to review the Alita Battle Angle ova tbh :P
Already did.
@@BennettTheSage oh you did! my bad sorry! I should have checked before saying that :P

This anime knows what's important.
That kid in the field had freckles. I thought he was just another kid the Doctor tested on.
You want to watch a bad fighting game anime, try looking at Tekken
Yeah but Spoony already did a review of Tekken years ago.
Vizardlord7 True, but I'd still like to see Sage's take on it though.

I mean as long as it isn't live action how bad could it be.......
I'd watch the 90's live-action Street Fighter movie for a laugh than this slog of an anime. Legend of Chun Li can fuck off though.
The Van Damme movie is a classic compared to this crap heap
Someone hasn't watched Assassin's Fist.
@@TommyDeonauthsArchives plus the bison in that was eloquent and had decent lines
Say what you will about the animation/story, it has an unexpectedly good score.
literally the soundtrack is so good
You know, the more I watch these movies, the more I'm convinced that the problem isn't the plots of the games, it's that they made them into movies, which means they have to cut out most of the connective tissue that actually strings the plots together (and also the weird decisions they keep making to just add a bunch of shit that wasn't there, before).
Never repress the counter gag...
So, is Saddler the inspiration for Seth from SFIV?
Yes and the monitor cyborg from SF II Anime movie. Seth is created from the DNA of Saddler, Bison, and the kid who became Abel. Saddler is also the older, mad scientist brother of SF III's Gill and Urien, according to the creators.
Rating SF ALPHA the anime:
Akuma- awesome but no pay off
Chunli- Sexy closeups = drinking game!
Where does the clip around 0:29 come from? It's the one with the blonde girl with the crown choking out the guy in a gray mask
Hey Sage, I hope you get better soon. If you could, can you cover Ronin Warriors/YST, Sakura Wars or Please Save My Earth, please? Ty!
Wow. Guile's Theme really does go with everything.
Karin and Nakoruru make me feel funny back when I was skinny.
When I was skinny I used to climb the ropes in gym class.
Alpha 2 is my go to for balance, characters, and UDON style artwork. Paper thin story -- but I'm okay with that. :D
'sigh' Bennett Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Realm is not an anime. It was animated in Japan, and may resemble an anime, but most of it's production stems from America, which is likely why there hasn't been a Mortal Kombat anime nor will there be, since all of the franchises rights are with Warner Bros.
he's joking
Have you not done Tekken on this show? I could swear you did, but looking for it, I can't found it. Is this another case of me imagining a whole review from you that never existed?
akuma is just a shonen protagonist but without all the friendship being magic parts
So just the antagonist.
@@fightingmedialounge519 well no, but actually yes!
Have you ever reviewed street fighter II v. It’s the first anime I picked up in vhs volumes once a month lol. Then I picked up the dvd and the American dub is different than the British and it’s all confusing
I'm in the opposite camp. I find the depth of street fighters story absolutely gripping, where as mortal kombats to be absolutely bewildering.
I can't help but think you missed an opportunity to use Chun Li's theme for the *ahem* montage.
Hey not giving that Delta of Venus top billing would be a crime against humanity.
you did not mention the insulting cliffhanger of Ryu lunging at Akuma right at the end of the movie only to cut to credits.I almost threw my remote at the screen.
19:20 HEY! Don't you DARE drag Uncle down to this movie's level!
I disagree about the story. If you want casuals who make up the most of the market you have to appeal to casuals also.

If you’re reviewing fighting anime would you please consider shadow skill the movie and epilogue as it was my personal favourite growing up thank you
10 Year Anniversary of AA this year. Wow. It's coming up too as I type this on 3/29/21. From the future, Shonen Jump Magneto.
The best way to experience this movie is to just watch that Chun-Li scene compilation.
I once found Street Fighter Alpha DVDs at my local Target.
Never. suppress. the. counting gag.
Also, goddamn Guile's them goes with damn near everything.
on note, the initial brat that ryu runs into at the lab is NOT shun. notice he has freckles? also why ryu stopped in confusion because that freckled kid had a similar chi signature to shun. shun was being incorporated into the cyborg body at that time and ryu hadn't found him. but i get how that can throw someone off initially viewing it since they gave "freckles" almost the same exact look to shun. it's only the freckles that give away it's not shun and nothing else.
Never really liked street fighter but I like marvel vs Capcom
I think mortal kombat is a better fighting game in my opinion
U gonna review Street Fighter Alpha: Generations next?
Have you done blue seed yet?

It still boggles my mind that Negan would be in Tekken... He and Lucille would fit into Mortal Kombat so much better...
