Man... All Might is looking pretty weird in his early years.
Man you don't know the half of it.
ComiXProvider FTW_02 there’s a part of me that wants to believe the Mangaka WAS actually a fan of Psychic Force
He doesn't like to talk about it.
DETROIT SHAME!
Teens experiment with changing their physical appearance
I think it's funny that Keith, the ice guy, is voiced by James Arnold Taylor.... the same guy who'll play Johnny Test... the kid with FLAMING HAIR.
Also know as the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Clone Wars series.
(whipping sound intensifies)
clearly they watched this
coincidence doesnt exist
Keith’s hairdo was a homage to “Locke the Superman”, a pretty cool manga about an immortal psychic that’s been going on since the 60’s. It’s considered an oldie in Japan, but it’s completely unknown overseas except for Poland, where Locke was inexplicably popular during the 90’s.
And it's also very reminiscent of Big Fire from the Giant Robo OVA.
What's it about , I can't seem to find synopsis online
@@polasamierwahsh421 I first knew about Locke through the movie, which was broadcast in Latin America numerous times throughout the 90s. I learned more about the franchise by reading info from the Japanese fansites.
Basically, it’s a chronicle that starts from our immediate future to thousands of years later. Each story arc focuses on different main characters while Locke acts as an observer that either aids them from behind the scenes, or appears in the very end to beat the arc’s bad guy. Kind of like Mad Max. Locke’s exact origins and background are the biggest mystery in the story.
The manga is insanely long. But the good thing is that all the issues (along with the original drafts) have been compiled in dedicated manga websites, like ebookjapan.
Me and my friends played a lot of Psychic Force 2012 back in the day on the Dreamcast (we're a bunch of fighting game nerds).
It's actually quite enjoyable. It's really different from your tradicional mainstream fighting game, thus making it stranger and hard to learn, and some characters are pretty unbalanced, but the combo system is interesting, many characters have cool looking moves, and, again, it's a different take on the genre, just like Super Smash Bros, the Cyber Connect's Naruto's games or Bushido Blade, so for someone that loves fighting games it's good to play something that tries to do the things it's own way sometimes.
I think the franchise died along many others during the dark ages of fighting games, the early 2000's. Back on the 90's the market was flooded by fighting games trying to be the next Street Fighter, and they survived thanks to the boom of the arcades, but as the arcade gaming declined so did the genre, and along of that many great franchises disappeared, not only the more unknown ones like Psychic Force... Darkstalkers, The Last Blade, Fatal Fury/Garou, Rival Schools... SNK, the company behind The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting even went bankrupt during that time, being brought by a Korean company. The genre only got it's force back on 2008 with the release of Street Fighter 4, that kinda reignited things, but never the same way as back in the golden age. Now, we only have a couple of established franchises that survived the hard times, like Tekken, Mortal Kombat, The King of Fighters and, of course, Street Fighter. The only one that stills manages to launch a bunch of different franchises and still make them somewhat relevant is Arksys and all their Guilty Gears, Blazblues, Dragon Ball Fighter Z, etc.
But yeah, the anime sucks. About that, Psychic Force is just like any other fighting game.
As a englush speaking person,i find your comment highly offensive.

In defense of James Arnold Taylor, his awkward laugh in FF10 was suppsed to be just that. Tidus and Yuna force themselves to laugh, even though they don't really have anything to laugh about, just for the sake of it. Don't blame the voice actor, blame the script.

The game looks interesting, just by shear virtue of the verticality
Someone send a copy to Woolie. We need to get this analyzed.
Woolie may throw up playing it due to motion sickness
I had it on dreamcast and thought it was pretty fun
Woolie's face while playing Psychic Force: starts out super excited, but then turns into sheer agony after an hour.
Played it to death. It had a pretty great Dash/Dodge Mechanic, which made 'high level play' look beautifully chaotic and fast.
It's a series that deserves to return.
"Wait... But if you're all alive, then surely Wim-Plo! Hey Wim!"

"Oh...."
Low-grade amateur abridged series that end after two episodes have better dubs than this.
And many of modern fan-animations are better then stuff from 90's (to be honest sometimes better then in regular shows). Thing is that at the time there was no professional VA, with studios hiring low grade actors and family (for reminder majority of actors for long time consider VA as failed carrier, worst then working for radio). Nowadays this tendency changed as some VA's are celebrates and due to RPG's and cosplay voice imitation is way more widespread skill.
At least the audio/recording quality itself is good
Sage, this entire anime was dripping with homoerotic subtext from the get-go. That line was just the apex, did you SEE their positioning in that cornfield at 11:26? Scandalous.
Cloud Atlas? Linkara called, Sage. He said, "All-star Batman & Robin (ASBAR) would like to have a word with you."
That's a low blow.
Oh god. I still own this game. I bought it from a dying Hastings. It is a POS and the only good thing about Psychic Force is it's OST. Never knew it had an anime. Dodged a bullet there.
There was actually a sequel on Sega dreamcast, it wasn't too bad,but most the endings were downers
I actually own Psychic Force 2012 on the Dreamcast, bought it brand new sealed for $5 back in 2009 during the global recession.
I had no idea there was an anime adaption.
Oh hey, now I finally remember the name of that game I borrowed from a friend years and years ago. Only game that ever gave a blister with button mashing. Somehow.
Oh god! Keith really is voiced by James Arnold Taylor. 🤣
Doodlebug Four as much as I like James as a VA, having enjoyed his roles as Tidus, Ratchet and Wooldoor among others, I’ve determined that he can get REALLY annoying if you use him wrong.

I actually remember Psychic Force, well the sequel anyway. The special moves are easy to pull off, only b/c I read them off of my Blockbuster video case when I rented it. Story is all over, but the powers are interesting. And believe me, hearing Zell Plus yell out for Keith in Japanese is a little bit better.

Weirdly, the Playstation and Dreamcast games have better stories than the anime. But really, who plays these things for the plot? The Psychic Force games are a lot of fun, with the right mindset.
Blazblue would like a word with you
Subaru Malibu The games are fun enough without the plot. The actual plot makes sense, but it’s kind of sad and depressing. The endings of both titles aren’t very optimistic.
SaitohYatate This is true. The only characters who get “happy” endings in 2012 are Gudeath and Wong, the baddest of the bad guys.
I love the games!
Is that James Arnold Taylor as Iceman?
Nevermind. Confirmed later on.
It's days like this I'm glad there isn't a direct anime adaptation of Chaos Wars.
So basically Keith is Magneto and psychics are mutants, and he created Genosha. How original
11:33 Keith: You're making me question my sexuality too much.
I'm still salty that you're not reviewing Tekken: the motion picture.
Maybe next time
I know. Me 2. I was really looking forward to Sage reviewing Tekken.
CosmicG777 Especially given he makes reference to it in earlier episodes as if he did review it.
Leave it to Sage to blue ball us like that!

this video is made for me. I played a fuck ton of ps1 games. My friend and I... we **loved** psychic force 2012. Mostly as a janky novelty. But a really fun janky novelty. Great story/arcade mode. Didn't even know there was an anime cash grab. Edit: I have located a ROM and will confront my nostalgia.

Holy Crap, Hyper Police! I wasn't expecting you to talk about that in this show for a minute. But I'm so happy that you brought it up Sage.
On the topic of shit Anime releases, I need to rant about something. The day before this episode got released, I just got through watching all of Stand Alone Complex and, oh boy, the blu-ray of 2nd Gig I got is a piece of work. I saw the blu-ray at walmart for 20 bucks and I thought "sweet a release of 2nd Gig that's not 80+ dollars" and went for it. First, I found it weird that I haven't seen this blu-ray before considering it was released in 2017 and I generally keep track of the releases of anime I interested in buying. Also, you'd think a re-release of anything Ghost in the Shell would have some buzz, especially around the time the live action film. I didn't pay it to much attention considering the same thing happened with the Funimation release of Innocence and there were no real problems with that.
Moving to the blu-ray itself, it has no special features, not even trailers. Now many people complain about recent Funimation releases being very bare bones in this regard. Now I personally don't mind considering with most modern anime any auxiliary materiel is readily available online. Unless it's a commentary track there really is no practical reason to put that stuff on the physical release of most anime, it's like video games an instruction manuals. With that said Ghost in the Shell ain't most anime, and every other release of 2nd Gig has that shit. This ain't some big titty harem crap where I wouldn't give two shits either way, GiTS SAC is actually worth a damn, so not putting special features is a pretty big red flag. Next, it defaults to the sub, minor gripe but considering that most Ghost in the Shell material (barring the 95 film) have amazing dubs and I don't like reading subtitles when I don't have to, that's another strike petty as it is. Also, no captions for Japanese text. Next, if you try to use the skip button it to the next episode instead of the next scene, if you need to go back a scene or want to skip the op/credits you have to use the fast forward/rewind like it's a goddamn VHS. Also the audio is fucked. The sound on the main menu was normal, but while watching the show noticed the audio was pretty damn low. I thought it might just be the TV in my living room so I decided to switch to the one in my bedroom. It was fine until one scene where there is a noticeable drop in audio mid scene. Also there's one point in the dub where Bato grunts and you clearly hear that it's his Japanese voice. That may have been in the dub originally but I was flabbergasted when I heard that. Also when I switched rooms more problems raised with navigation. I have a PS3 in my room so I was obliviously using a game controller. So for some ungodly reason this blu-ray doesn't let you pause or resume play with X. X apparently only works on the menus. I don't know why, everything else I watch on my PS3 let's me pause/play with X. No, this blu-ray demands that I hit triangle to bring up the overlay menu and manually navigate to the pause and play buttons. So whenever I needed to pause I had to deal with that. It's just those minor annoyances that really get your piss boiling. Top if all that, when you hit play all on the main menu it actually means marathon mode. So after you watch the last episode on a disc it then demands that you switch discs or press enter to go to the main menu. Remember, X doesn't work outside the menu so pull up that overlay menu and manually select enter and if you decide to take a break from watching, make sure you went back to the main menu because if you go back to watch that disc and haven't already switch to another disc, it will just take you back to the disc swap screen. Also if you want to start at a particular episode you'll find out that instead of going to the next episode, like you'd expect, it will instead kick you back to the episode select. Fuck man, if this was some obscure old anime no one cares about, I wouldn't mind but the fact that it's Ghost in the Shell makes it really fucked up. The original DVD of the 95' film released when DVDs first became a thing was better, and it had a tutorial on how to navigate DVD menus as a special feature that you could only access by being able to navigate a DVD menu.
10:50 Yes, Boomer will live... remember that joke.

Bennett: Psychic Force, may have been a hidden gem of the ps1 era. I mean I never played it
Me having played the game: Dude you said yourself... it's fucking called Psychic Force. it's like if Tekken was called punch and kicks, if Street fighter was called: fireballs. If Virtua Fighters was called Virtual figh..... eh bad example on this one.
I played Psychic Force 2 back in the day. I remember liking it quite a lot.

Fun video. One shockingly good fighting game based on an anime (which was based on a series of H-games) is _Advance Variable Geo 2_ on the ps1. Despite being a panty fighter, the developers put in a lot of hard work to make it a surprisingly steady 2D fighter. I dare say that it's almost as good as Alpha2, the best 2D fighter on the ps1. It's a crime that a panty fighter on the ps1 is better than MvC1.
I only found this video because Psychic Force 2012 is one of my favorite Dreamcast games.
Keith reminds me of Locke the Superman, who comes from series named like that.
Main differences - Locke's hair is green (and sometimes bigger and maybe angled differently, I guess? The essence is here, tho.), and I don't think he has cryokinesis.
If you happen to have the OVAs for that series (which makes me wonder just how much has been dubbed/released in English), it'd be great to see what you might have to say about them.
I reckon Lord Leon being here, on YT.
I actually played the game 14 years ago in a billiards hall. Something about it stuck with me.
Oh my god I had a friend named Keith that basically was this character!

I recently picked it up at our local Big Lots for free (Christmas coupon) and had no idea what the hell I got XD watched up to the 2010 intro and stop. Came here to see if anyone reviewed so thanks 🙏🏻
The worst dub in history? Well.. excluding the practice of "V.O."... as in... Actually just playing the original voices and laying a recording of a bored voice artist over it so you can hear both and understand neither...
Excluding that "fine" tradition... The worst anime dub ever made was in my opinion the 80's dub of Cyborg 009 here in sweden. It was performed by a single guy (legends say his name was "Karsten"), all the voices, for over 50 episodes, for all the scandinavian countries. Him being a german born danish man working for a company mainly known for import of pornography... Let's just say that the result was legendary. Lines are flubbed willy nilly, languages bleed into each other, at times he struggles to keep track of which voice has which gender... And the only iron clad rule was... No retakes.
One day I'd like to make a documentary film about that production, finding and interviewing the surviving people involved. I just think it would be a wild story they could tell.
Do it! Sounds awesome!

Psychic Force 2012 (and the game series as a whole) is an interesting Fighting Shmup hybrid. Definitely recommend at least a try.

I do hope you will mention the cut opening from the first movie.
I literally didn't even know about it until I bought a copy while in Japan back in 2012. Answers a heck of a lot of questions that had been rattling around in my mind til then about the movie
Holy shit really?! Do tell! I must know.
@@danielramsey6141 you can find it on UA-cam called The Birth of Mewtwo.alright, but it's kinda spoilers and is much more impactful if you watch it blind, so, just warning you. Go watch it before reading on if you don't want to be Spoiled.
Remember how Mewtwo's first lines in the movie were "where am I? This is not the same. Was everything before just a dream?"?
The cut opening showed why he asks that. It starts with a group of scientists traveling through a forest looking for Mew's DNA so they can clone it.
After a bit, it cuts to a time where Mewtwo is far younger than we originally saw him in cinemas. This is a newborn Mewtwo, young, naive and pure. He mentally communicates with four other clones, Charmander 2, Squirtle 2, Bulbasaur 2 and Amber 2.
Amber 2 is a human and a clone of the scientist who leaves the recording as Mewtwo was blowing up the lab.
He started the cloning process in order to bring her back after she died.
However, the other Pokemon clones fail, dying as their minds disintegrate, with Amber 2 also dying shortly after.
The grief causes Mewtwo to lose control and the scientists fill his tank with a fluid that causes his memory to perceive them as a dream, hence him asking as he opens his eyes if "everything before was just a dream".
