SFII movie is way better. Alpha was okay, but disappointing.

I like the film but it's true it was an absolute waste to not make it about Akuma, for sure, Ryu's fighting his darkness within in the mids of fighting Akuma would have been amazing, no doubt.
I bought this movie on DVD a few days ago, what a coincidence.

If ppl are really that dissatisfied with the movie it just means they don’t really understand what it was even about.. I felt like that when I was like 8. Now at 29 I understand it’s not even about fighting. It’s about why we fight. This is the true essence of street fighter. The scene with Sakura in the hospital is very important and the film is actually deep as fuck if you put your own expectations aside and actually just enjoy what’s in front of you.
The problem is that nothing happens in this movie.
I was not even bothered by the concept of "Shun", and might have even enjoyed that brotherly struggle angle had they done anything or gone anywhere with it, but his presence was reduced to him grunting and moaning whenever Ryu ran out of Prozac and went purple for a few seconds.
You spend the entire movie waiting for "the stuff" to happen and then the movie ends.
The most frustrating thing about the Akuma scene is that if there had been a fight inbetween him arriving and leaving it would have been amazing, because the creep factor was great.
But it´s like they ran out of tape and just cut the fight and sent it as is.
I used to love this movie too as a kid , so did my brothers and my friends but yeah it was disappointing I agree, especially with Akuma, were expecting to see him fight but never happened, although his design is really dope. Even with it's faults street fighter Alpha does have a place in my heart. That said street fighter 2 is the best adaptation and I'm thinking of re-watching it coz I never finished the movie, I don't know why but I will this time.
As i got older like the Tekken animated film I figured they were all OVAs. Tekken never got the proper anime treatment like the rest of the fighting series.
I plan to revisit the Tekken film too

I can agree the music was very well down and goes well with some of the best scenes in the film. One that sticks with me is the main score playing during the ending sequence done to cool shots of what the characters are doing

The music was interesting. Art style was interesting. The story has holes in it, like why does Shun exhibit traits of the Satsui No Hado and did the giant robot character kill Guy and others when Ken and Chun Li told them to escape?

Street Fighter alpha generations is better. It’s not amazing but the story is better and theirs Akuma backstory and real-time scenes with Ryu and Akuma no hallucinations bs

I loved the SF2 movie when I was younger. SF2A eh.... it was ok. I kinda skimmed through it and watched the King of Fighters anime movies instead, which ruled

Alpha was a mess. Street Fighter 2 was awesome from beginning to end. I still hold it in high regards.

My thoughts of the review of film, in the words of Inside Edition's Bill O'Reilly, "F++kin' Thing Sucked!!!".
Wait... an anime movie based on a popular fighting game franchise where the main villian is a mad scientist building man-machine androids and the iconic antagonist is practically relegated to a cameo? It's like they copied the "Battle Arena Toshinden" anime! Even the animation looks the same.
I love Street fighter 2 1994 but the V2 show might be my favorite out of the 2. For me the bound between the characters feel alot stronger.
I want a bloodsport fighting game.
Hell I wouldn't even mind another Bloodsport movie.
It doesn't have to be about Frank Dux. The Kumite is just a cool underused concept.
It doesn't have to be a complicated plot.
It can literally just be "they fight for glory" or whatever. I don't care.
As long as the martial arts looks cool then it's cool with me.

So I just watched Bloodsport 2. It doesn't have JCVD but it brings back Donald Gibb and also has Pat Morita and James Hong.
Honestly it's actually pretty decent if you're just looking for that cheesy 80s/90s martial arts tournament goodness.
Also fun fact the guy who replace JCVD is Daniel Bernharndt. Yeah I didn't know who he was either.
But apparently he plays Agent Johnson from the Matrix : Reloaded.
I think maybe they wanted to use akuma but couldn’t. In street fighter lore Alpha I believe takes place before even the first game, so ryu is still relatively a newbie, and Akuma is the strongest character in the lore. At any stage other than third strike and maybe the new street fighter 6, akuma would dogwalk Ryu and the entire main roster with relative ease. This movie should’ve either just not teased akuma so hard or just tied him to the narrative better since they couldn’t have him be defeated here. The way akuma is supposed to be in most of the games is basically Yujiro to Baki.
Street alpha is when Baki would have first ventured out into the world, he’s not even a fly to yujiro at that time. In Alpha, Ryu is the same to akuma.

I don't consider it bad, it's good, but it's very wasted, which is why it can deceive.
However, I have a lot of love for him and at least they deepened Ryu's internal conflict, an important factor it would have been excellent if Rosanov was added as a playable character in the alpha saga with his own endings, the generic Shadalow scientist fulfilled his role and Yeah, he's not a great antagonist compared to M. Bison or Akuma either.
What I consider very good is the design and visual style respecting and capturing the personality and essence of the characters, while the music is a work of sound art, I think that after this movie they would have gone directly to SF alpha 2 where Ryu fights . with Akuma on the island until the confrontation in a plot developed until reaching a final battle against Bison would have been epic.
They would have done better if they adapted the SF alpha manga by the great artist Masahiro Nahashika
Where the characters are used much better than in this film.

Alpha is chronologically the earliest game in da SF timeline hence the name. It's a prequel to SF1. It's not called Alpha for any other reason
In fact you are confused, SF alpha is located after SF 1 and before SF 2

@@Vague1801well now that I think about it better, the SF alpha is not very far from the SF one since in Sagat's ending it was Ryu's that comes to Sagat to confront him and alpha 2 is the continuation of SF one 😎😁
