Too bad the Otto device doesn’t also support Bluetooth transmit to connect to the car stereo. You’d get much better quality and not have to deal with FM frequency conflicts.

Have a 2019 Mercedes E class with a wide screen but didn't have Apple Carplay - did some research and found a guy who sent some cables and after 45 minutes of my laptop connected to the car, i now have Carplay installed in the car without any physical device - works amazingly!

I think they installed some kind of hack code so its change your car coding side brain. It can be a solution but cant trust like orginal coding.
And also if you update your car like new verios of applications or restart your car like return as a new thats code will be gone.

Another option to get aux, only IF the radio has a cassette player. Buy a cassette that has an aux input cable. That's how we can play mp3 on our 2008 Matrix.

Hi Nick, thanks for the video I hadn’t heard of this before, I’m looking out for a solution for my 2003 car, which needs phone integration too. Does this allow calls to be sent and received, if so, I assume it must have a microphone? If it does, did you test it? Thanks

So…if you use the Bluetooth Sound Transmission, it’ll use the car’s mic.
If you use AUX or FM transmissions then it’ll use the on board mic on the screen. So yes it does have an on-board mic

Looked at this but my days of having extra gadgets n gizmos allover my dash are long gone n like yours it will look naff imho..
I'm going down the road of and thou twice the price having a retro fit 12.3 screen replacing my 10' in mercedes c220 will android auto/ Google maps/ UA-cam/ audible etc on tap..and simply replaces current screen..Looks neat n tidier too..
I just found it fascinating that you could add it to any car without touching the dashboard (taking it apart etc) I would have loved this years ago!
It's expensive to pay 299 for a built-in, non-full-screen carplay. These external Carplays are a really great choice, or spend these money to upgrade a better iphone
I have 63 plate b class, can I get it fixed it at the original screen & approximately how much it cost❓

Appel CarPlay was announced by Apple in 2014 / 2015 ish so any car prior to this would never have had CarPlay as it didn’t exist. Cars after this would have had a slow roll out as manufacturers slowly integrated into their line-ups.
I make this video for people who wish to have CarPlay but can’t get it because it didn’t exist.
It sits on top of the dashboard without affecting the inner workings of the car for a hassle free installation. I would recommend the suction cup though as well.
Nick is this car play system easy to attach and detach? Just in case if you need to take it off and put it in the glove box?
You could, although using the windscreen mount I found is super sticky…
Good so that it stays there, I guess not so good to take off everyday though.
I had to take mine off while testing it over the course of a week and just attached the clear plastic back to the suction sticky pad
@@npoleary What I meant is I will keep the windscreen arm/stand but is it easy to take off the screen unit as I have pavement side car parking?
@YMC888 oh I see, the windscreen mount screws into the back of it, so no that but wouldn’t be easy to take off daily.
Can it transmit music into your car via Bluetooth? My c204 has Bluetooth but too old for CarPlay
There was a Bluetooth bit there but because of the various different makes and models I couldn’t physically test it on all of them out there. However there is FM so it can stream that way

What year is the C-Class? Sadly only started UA-cam in 2020 producing reviews and videos then so don’t have much content prior to that.
Apple CarPlay came out in roughly 2019 from what I believe for Mercedes C-Class.

No sadly it was literally announced by Apple around about that time. So manufacturers were able to add this new tech into cars when they next had a refresh. For C-Class this would have been 2019.
One of the reasons why I made this video (above) so that even if a car doesn’t have it, it is still possible 👍🏼
What about the rear camera? For some reason I cant find it… did i get unlucky? Or some models dont have it?

Does it support bluetooth streaming? Ottocast site says stable bluetooth and FM on it which im guessing it means it does, but then they dont expand on that. This would be a nice addition to my Q30 where Nissan took everything from Merc bar its infotainment, so no inbuilt Carplay or android auto! 🤦

Sadly I left this Bluetooth part out on purpose as I wasn’t sure what cars it would be compatible with.
