This is not quite exactly what the record sounds like. I don't think Jimmy used Gibson in the studio. Jimmy's stage act doesn't come naturally with a Gibson, it's natural on a strat. Could Jimmy have using a Strat to record? Did he find out how to get Zeppelin music from a Strat? And then butcher the music on stage because it's the wrong guitar ?
I dont know if ive nade this comment before (if so i hope it helps with the engagement) this is the best guitar/educational channel on youtube! I really feel like mr tabs is the most accurate with these songs. From the tabs to the tone he really sets it off. I trust mr tabs with tabs more so than ultimate guitar.
Maybe not the kinda love Plant was singing about - but happy Valentines Day! Here's a few notes about the song. In the studio recording, there are times where Page slides into the riff on the low E string from the 5th fret. Other times, he doesn't slide. So I took both approaches with the tab. With the Chorus, I listened to an isolated guitar track. I've seen many tabs use a D5 chord, however it doesn't sound like that to my ears. It sounds like he is barring his finger on the A,D, and G strings (sometimes B as well) and playing a D5 with an E bass note. I've checked out his playing from live videos also and it appears he is doing that as well. Live, perhaps more-so hitting 7th fret B string when he changes from the E5 Chord. I decided to shorten the mid section. I realize Page is doing some black magic stuff there. And I know most of us don't want to mess around with that. So I decided to cut to the solo. Enjoy and best of luck with the song guys!
Great job! And finally someone who realizes the low E is alternate picked for the main riff. I see so, so many guitarist, good and great ones who play that strictly down picking. I could never understand how they couldn't hear that it's alternate picking. Also, nice touch adding that slide accent riff at the very end of the song, which alternates with the main riff. Another aspect of the song that I see a lot of players overlook, ignore or don't even realize it's there. It's more subtle in the mix but it makes a difference. Keep up the great work and videos!
Hi this is Pierre-Marie from France. I finished the Johnny B Goode intro and I made good progress on Dream On... But I can no longer follow. Do not stop ! I feel that I am progressing! Thank you for this avalanche of sounds.
Love that little 12th-11th fret on the A string at the end of the song giving a little major third action to the E chord. I'm not sure if Joe Walsh was joking but when he explained what he did with a bend and some dissonance in the middle guitar solo he mentioned that it gave Jimmy Page the idea in Whole Lotta Love where does that quarter bend on the A string 5th fret. It is a very similar to what Joe does in Funk 49. Those were the days when they made some really great guitar music. Bring those back somebody. Pleeeeeez!
As always, you never cease to amazr me with these. Keep it up! A song I would LOVE to see in the future is "Goofy Goober Rock" from the first Spongebob movie: the song is mostly a cover of "I wanna rock"by Twisted Sister. But the solo is changed in GGR.
Fantastic contribution as always! The only thing I can notice in this video is that the main riff is played with the E of fret 9 but it is not in the tablature
Ha... I just got a confidence boost because I kinda figured out you essentially needed to play this slightly off sounding unison in the main riff for it to feel right.
you have great technique. i wasn't able to play the intro how you did it. i found it easier to play up strokes for the first power chord played before the chugging muted triplets on the open e along with relaxing my grip on those power chords right after i up stroke them to help the staccato. i think it still sounds pretty fair.
One key detail about the rhythm is that when playing the D, one need to use both the A string and D string, then bend A string slightly to create the dissonance and the oscillation of sound, to make the guitar sound "big“. I first learned that back in 2015 in Joe Walsh's video with Gibson about guitar setup. ua-cam.com/video/D7gMwE7phoM/v-deo.html Also Rick Beato's what makes this song great also mentioned that. JPJ also using two strings all the time to beef the sound up. Kudos for details, and all the details before this video. The content you created are truly for guitar players of all levels, because they were created with passion and love.
This helped me so much. Can’t believe no Judas Priest though , come on lol. Exciter, the sentinel. You know, the super cool ones. Thanks for all you do here honestly. 😊
Great lesson mate!i have a challenge for you thats it s not in youtube the solo(near the end of the song)from Oh sweet nuthin from THE VELVET UNDERGROUND by Sterling Morrison.from Buenos Aires Argentina🇦🇷🎸🎸🎸
Excellent cover, bro! I absolutely love that song. I would like to make a request. Could you do "Ghost Riders in the Sky." And not the original, but the cover done by The Outlaws.
Been playing Metallica & Slayer riffs the 2 years I've been learning, getting pretty good too, but this is an akward riff with the triplet open E on an upstroke after the A 7/9 power chord. The timing is f****** hard and my g string just vibrates the whole time with a droning open note the whole time. Yeah pretty simple riff lol.
This channel is so underrated! You’re really generous, man!
This is literally the best guitar cover/educational channel on youtube
He is the Don!
100%
Hey bro I'm wondering if you can do bad to the bone and if you do I'm garenteed you that I will tell everyone to like and subscribe to your channel
Yes! Mr. Tabs is a blessing to us! And there are a lot of famous YT guitarists out there who are NOT generous. 😢
This riff is so simple but so addictive.
Simple is always addictive! always
Jimmy Page was a "Riff Master" LOL 🎸
No shit
been sounding in my head all day LOL

Please, do Purple Haze!
This comment needs mass upvotes. Please mr tabs do this one!
I support your idea!!
And now, he made it.
If you did not now there’s a vote for his next song
Mega. Even got the open D ringing with the 5th fret of the A being bent 1/4. Tons of people miss that. Keep up the good work. Your a legend.
i can play the solo at 0.50 speed...hooray.
winning!
It’s been 9 months you should try it again
This time at 2x speed
I'm not kidding this is a great way to progress in learning a solo/riff/whatever. Just slowly increase the speed with every other time you play
BROOOO
Refreshing to see someone actually play the opening riff correctly. Your one of only a couple (Steve Stevens being one) that actually gets it right.

Black magic ajajajajaj
Page's black magic moment lol
Mr. Tabs could you please do I Can’t Wait by Stevie Nicks? I think you’d definitely kill the solo!

Hey Mr tabs do you think sometime in the future you can do the song called how many more times from Led Zeppelin 1
OMG this is a phenomenal performance. Technically and aesthetically perfect !!
Hi this is Pierre-Marie from France.
I finished the Johnny B Goode intro and I made good progress on Dream On...
But I can no longer follow. Do not stop ! I feel that I am progressing!
Thank you for this avalanche of sounds.
Excellent Tab and Lesson.. For those chasing the Page live tone, he uses 'Middle Position ' for the riff with neck pickup wound back a fraction
I love the work at the end the fade out where Jimi extends the riff!
When I see new Mr. Tabs vid, I always automatically press like button.
Keep rockin man, with love from Russia
Hell yeah!!!! Keep bringing us Zeppelin!
You made my Valentines better 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Finally someone that does the bend in the main riff! So many miss that nuance
I love you're work, you are so underrated and ur tutorials are the best for my opinion!
Your tabs are always so accurate!!! Thanks so much for this!!! ☺️
Great job as always. I would like to request to do a cover of the Doors, "Riders on the Storm"
That would be great!
LA Woman would be even better imo

I taped this on a cassette back in the day and and edited out the theremin bit two beats sooner!
Mr tabs, in your "ride the lighthing" video you asked if we know a song by Slash you can do, i think "Ghost" is a nice song 🤪🎩🎸
This picking technique if perfect for this song.
I don't even learn these songs, I'm just here for the performance.
Sounding on point as usual!
Been playing Metallica & Slayer riffs the 2 years I've been learning, getting pretty good too, but this is an akward riff with the triplet open E on an upstroke after the A 7/9 power chord.
