How does the hardware (wires / dongles) work - it's all HDMI input, but I want to put webcams that usually use usb-c or lightning out (for iphone as a camera)...trying to do this economically and running it all from a MacBookAir...
Hi, I can't find any mention of a multiviewer? Other BMD Atem mixers have one built in but with this one you are either cutting blind or can preview one source at a time if you've selected preview/program mode - is that right?

@@sparky107107 I bought a MacMini and a Sony A6000 - so, in a way I found a fix LOL. I'm sure there's an adaptor or two you could use, but it became too much hassle for me. Good luck!

You should connect an HDMI to USB capture card such as the Elgato camlink to the "HDMI OUT" and compare it to the built in USB output. You will find that the built in USB output crushes shadows/highlights and colors making it very compressed MJPEG output. Any other USB capture card connected to the "HDMI OUT" port produces a wayyy better image. I'm returning this until they get YUV2 or NV12 on the USB output as opposed to the terrible looking MJPEG output. You need to see the images side by side to see how bad it is.

Due to my experience in photography and video, I was asked to teach studio production at my school site here in California- And now that California is opening up things, high school sports (outdoors) are back. This is by far the best video on multicam "how to livestream with Atem Mini" video and for some reason UA-cam has it ranked like 4th for that search term. Shows the algo ain't the end all be all lol liking and commenting to try to bump it up 3 spots, cuz it's literally the first, second, and third best video I've found! Thank you!

So my two qiestions is to I have to have the atem control cable and if so where do I get it and number 2 question is do I have to use the software I’m kinda dumb with that stuff I’m dumb to where I don’t really even know how to download a app and where to find it u know u know
@@NinjaFentYT that’s where I was. I have the pro model, but they basically all work the same. You will need to plug the c usb cable from your computer to the controller. Then you need to plug your cameras into the hdmi of your camera. You need cameras with hdmi outputs. Otherwise, you’ll spend a fortune on capture device. $100-200 a piece. The software is free to download. In all fairness, I haven’t used the software, I just use the hardware. I don’t use the Ethernet port either. They make a device you can plug in to record your videos that cool, but I haven’t bought one yet. Let me know if you need anything else.
I am using Zoom for online piano lessons, and am interested in how to get the highest quality (stereo) audio using digital audio interfaces. However your tutorial definitely got me thinking about the vision mixing power of this unit! Thanks again!

@@AlexPettitt Alex, can I get your opinion on the lack of multiview preview with the Atem Mini? I am kind of holding back on purchasing a unit thinking that I will not be able to use this switcher in more of a live situation without seeing all of the cameras at one time. Have you found a way to deal with this situation? I would most likely be using the USB-C output of the Atem whihc would leave the HDMI available for any previewing. Thanks for your input.
If you’re just using the USB-C for program, then you can set the HDMI out to Preview and flick through the cams on preview before taking one to air... this has worked well for me personally.
@@AlexPettitt Thanks. Though that seems like extra steps which would not be ideal for live events. I wish they had a better solution.
This was exactly what i was looking for. I have tried to stream to UA-cam live with the stream key and the atem mini. However I got so many errors on youtube saying ERROR " YT is not receiving enough video to maintain smooth streaming. blah blah blah" So do you recommend we just uste the atem mini as webcam and stream out to youtbe as you mentoined?

Alex... do you know how to rig an atem mini and a projector to both receive the same signal from a teacher's laptop? I want to be able to show teacher's powerpoint to the livestream but have them controlling when the slides change (obviously). Was then planning to do picture in picture using the camera.
Is it difficult to sync audio? Say for example if I’m recording in OBS or QuickTime ?
I'm curious to know how this would work in conjunction with the Rodecaster professional podcast mixer board.
Check out my latest video, I do exactly that. The Rodecaster Pro works really welll with the ATEM Mini :)
why do they make it SO HARD to download the software controller? i can't find it for the life of me
I was wondering if theres a minimum requierement on the computer side? I read some had issue with macbook air... do u think there would be an issue in running it on a macbook or macbook air ?
Just received mine. Using latest firmaware 8.1 date (12 november) there is no chance to put multiview in the HDMI output.

Is the atem mini pro worth the extra $200 for multiview and recording option?
Great vid ! If you can, please elaborate on your mac? Specifically, what are the recommended mac specs for a smooth live stream (the Mac itself not taking into consideration the internet speed / upload etc) :)
I’m using a 2015 MBP with 16GB of memory and 2.8 quad core i7. Streams 1080p well without issues. I’d recommend most modern MBP’s will be able to stream just fine. לידור לוי לימוד גיטרה

Hello! Thanks for the presentation. I use Sony cameras (a7riii), and would like to live stream on UA-cam with them, with the help of ATEM mini. But, I have some issues with respect to the image that appears on UA-cam; it is darker of what the LCD screen of the camera presents, and also it is mirrored. I was wondering if I am missing any steps of the setting up of the ATEM mini, or maybe is something else. Any help is welcomed. Thanks!
Thx for this video - do yo know how to reverse the mirror image (as happened with your livestream starting at 11:40)?
Probably you found out yourself, but the mirrored image only appears in Preview. Once you go live everything is fine on the other end of the broadcast
After live stream does youtube save the video as a video in our channel?

Hi Alex, I cannot use the button "cut" on the Atem. It works on the software. When i hit cam1/2/3/4, it will show to both preview and program. Thanks

Great video - helped me pull the trigger and get one - Is there any way to adjust quality settings? Before, I was able to FB livestream in 720p through my camera/Ultra mini recorder/OBS, but using the ATEM mini as a camera it only gives my 360p resolution. Thanks
This is a limitation of Facebook it seems. I did a similar test and FB seems to only stream 360p when using the capture option. If you take the ATEM Mini into OBS, and stream to Facebook that way, you get full 720p. Hope this helps :)
Awesome video... very helpful and you're a United fan so thats 2 thumbs up! - Can you have screen record as 1 input and a camera as a second input simultaneously, so you can switch between your face and whats on your mac screen?
Yes you can have up to 4 inputs and switch between them. So if you wanted to plug a computer or games console into input 1 and a camera into input 2, that would work fine :)

YAMAHA PSR-510 you can record via the USB and record on PC/Mac using apps like OBS or QuickTime, or you can record via the HDMI output using an external recording device like a Hyperdeck Mini or Video Assist

Can you connect a monitor and show the preview program functions. My overall question is can u simultaneously see the preview and or multi view of all connected cameras
Good question. There is no multi-view output in this unit... so any output is fullscreen. The 'Preview' option will allow you to cut up a source full screen on your hdmi output before taking it live.
I thought there was no Preview option
Martinson Smart preview is available through the HDMI output

I see no reason why not as long as you can connect up to the ATEM's 3.5mm Mic input

Thanks Alex simple and concise. This video was very helpful. I'm going to attempt a 2 camera tutorial on UA-cam. I did notice on other videos a code or key had to be used on UA-cam - I presume this was a scheduling thing tho.
Hey Mark - This is dependant on how you set up the stream. The Stream Key and Stream URL are needed when using an external encoder rather than using the ATEM Mini as a webcam input for UA-cam. Hope that makes sense :)

how is the sync of audio and Video?
MeinVideoStudio have tried using audio inputs and audio over HDMI. Both are in sync perfectly for me :)

Just bought one for our studio, what is the audio input like?
Audio is either through HDMI with video or a pair of 3.5mm jacks. They are ok and if you are using the Mini in a recurring setup having Fairlight's EQ features in the software is great. That said, we're testing our's for use at small events and planning to run auto into the computer via a Zoom H6.

What is the maximum lenght of hdmi cable this will allow?
General advice would be to not go over 10m when using HDMI. If you want to do long cable runs, look to convert to SDI as this will be more stable over longer distances :)

Great video! When I am streaming to UA-cam all of my content is "mirrored." Text and images are backwards. Any fixes?
this is awesome, I recently got a livestream premium account to be able to do this kind of stuff with my atem, I didn't realize I can do this straight with youtube as the encoder software. my only question is if we wanted to bring in a remote guest from another location would we be able to connect a separate computer that is using zoom and plug that computer to one of the hdmi's? I'm trying to figure out how to achieve the guest into this setup without livestream because their guest function sucks or at least isn't easy to figure out.
Also youtube makes it easy to choose your audio source (i.e. from my audio interface) unlike livestream which I haven't figured out how to do either. Any tips or videos you may have done that talk about this using just atem?

If you want to add screen sharing with the camera on you, how do you do that?
Is it possible to choose audio input from another soundcard and then stream to YT or can you use the ATEM Mini audio inputs as line in?
When you stream to UA-cam, you could technically select the ATEM Mini as your video device and then a different source as your audio device. This would work, but you may experience audio sync issues.
ive got a question... cud i maybe hook up the whole system to my Samsung handphone and go live straight on facebook UA-cam , anywhere and everywhere? (USB-C to USB-C HP input?)
I tuned in specifically to find out how to invite others to view my live stream. Where is the link that I would set up and send for a webcast scheduled for a later date?

Technically as long as it's on the same network, yes.
If you setup a VPN this is possible. For a live event though, I'd be concerned about the lag.
Brilliant video. Thank you so much. Can I ask a question please? I wish to use this to record playing acoustic acts and wish to know if there is any way to put a timer on cameras to rotate round? Eg whilst we play can camera 1 be recording for 10 second then switch to camera 2 for 5 seconds then camera 1 for 10 seconds then camera 3 for 5 sec etc? Would be amazing to do this so can play and make a broadcast without having to press buttons as be difficult whilst playing.

Do I also have the WebCam Out on the ATEM Mini PRO? There it is only referred to as "USB Out".
