I think he's full of crap, I don't know what maniac(s) would want him cooking for their event or crowd. He reminds me of the neighbor or random guy who sees you cooking something on the smoker and asks what you're cooking, but you know it's just so they can do the playground one-upmanship thing.
      Neighbor/Guy: "Whatcha cookin'?"
      You: "Pork butt."
Neighbor/Guy: "I just did 30 pork butts the other day."

@@mikebraun7971 I think that it can be more severe than one-upping anyone and he's probably a habitual liar at this point. Like when he told his mom that he wanted to knew the proportions because "the people in Germany are complaining" (like his comment section isn't usually disabled) then he tells his mom that he won't be using this footage in the video and includes it anyway with the part when his mom tells him not to. He's always cooking for some imaginary guests like people would want to eat his cooking again and again. It probably happens, but I doubt that they are coming again (maybe aunt Myrna). The same with that unfortunate chili. He hypes himself up so much that I bet in his mind nobody knows how talented he is but if only an expert tasted his food then they would know that he's a genius. And the fact how he refers to himself in plural form when he's cooking - "we will show you how to..." - like he has a whole camera crew, editors and producers. It could be even kinda funny if he wasn't a father.

For me a lazy man's lasagna is a lasagna, that doesn't need to cook for 4+ hours.
I don't make a traditional lasagna, it is a bit more adjusted for the German pallet, which means more tomato and saucier (and in my case extra spices because i like flavour).
I usually make my lasagna like this:
    0. start in the morning
    1. put bacon and minced meat in an enamelled cast iron pot and let it brown
    2. finely dice Celeriac (it's cheaper and tastier than celery), carrots and onion and add it to the meat along with some tomato paste.
    3. When it smells right (I don't know how to explain it better) add (red wine), tomato purée, bay leaf, oregano, nutmeg, thyme and a little bit of cinnamon and cumin, just a little, you won't taste it later, it just makes it taste better.
    4. let it simmer until you need it, so for 4 hours or more if you want it for lunch, maybe stir it every hour or so, but you don't really have to.
    5. add garlic, basil, parsley, pepper and salt to taste.
    6. make a béchamel sauce, flavour with nutmeg and pepper, add some Italian hard cheese, I use grana padano because it is cheap.
    7. assemble with lasagna sheets, that don't have to be precooked (the standard here in Germany). If you want it cheesy, and a bit more stable, you can add some cheese between the layers.
    8. bake until the cheese on top is lightly browned, maybe 30 minutes
If I am lazy, I don't wait for 4 hours and instead cook the... "ragout" / sauce on higher heat. You could dice the vegetables in a food processor, but I find cleaning the thing more annoying than just dicing the stuff with a knife. Mixing it all together obviously will taste good too, but if you do that, why don't you just eat Spaghetti with a bolognese sauce?

It's not a positive in any way, shape or form. Reheated pasta can contain b. cereus spores that are highly toxic and can be lethal. It's as dangerous as raw chicken and maybe even more when it comes to numbers of people poisoned (which in the worst cases led to multiple organ failures and amputations) and even dead because of it. There are some ways in which you can reheat the pasta relatively safely but looking at the risks involved it's not really worth it.

  • @ChrisVuletich
    @ChrisVuletich Рік тому +8

I hate to admit that I made up a recipe in college that I've always called the "Poor Man's Lasagna", because you can get all the ingredients for about $15 and it'll feed you for a week. I have a fancier, more traditional recipe as well (most things are from scratch) that I make when I have guests. But I think my "Poor Man's Lasagna" might actually be even lazier than the one in the reaction lol. I sincerely apologize to anyone I'm about to offend with this recipe but here goes...
I heat up jarred pasta sauce, brown some ground beef and throw it in the sauce. Then I just make layers of the sauce, dried lasagna noodles, sliced Swiss cheese, dollops of cottage cheese (instead of ricotta) and bagged low moisture mozzarella. Throw all that in the oven, covered with tin foil for 40 mins. Then take the cover off and add more mozzarella on top and cook until it browns. It only takes about 15 minutes of prep and assembly.
If you don't have the time to prep a really good lasagna, it's surprisingly a lot better than something like Stouffer's or the other pre-made ones from the grocery store. But if you've got the time, definitely go with something a little more.... traditional. I apologize to everyone for releasing this sacrilegious recipe to world, but in a pinch it's a time and money saver!
