Just a quick summary of clothing for other folks who were curious: 10 tops, 4 shorts, 1 jean pant, 2 leggings, 2 swim suits, 3 dresses, 1 jumpsuit, 5 pairs of shoes :)
I always bring an IKEA foldable duffle incase I go shopping or they make me take things out of my luggage at the airport! Since I know you like skincare, a little tip for when you're in Greece (I'm Greek), check out the pharmacies, they have amazing items from Korres and Apivita. My favorites are the watermelon mask by Korres and the prickly pear mask by Apivita (it's amazing for hydration). They both come in small packaging too! Korres has a great tanning oil too 😉 Enjoy your trip! Safe travels!
@@MaggiesTwoCents lol yes!! your welcome! I bring back a lot every time I go. If you have any questions let me know, I know most of their products (I have a problem!!) have fun!
Don't put your valuables in the front easy access pocket! Is not easy access only for you but for pickpockets too! I'm Italian and I know that here in Europe pickpocketers are really snicky, especially with turists
this was an excellent packing demonstration and you really squeezed a lot into the Away bag. My problem is being plus size, so my clothes take up more room. Would be nice to see a video where you "pack for a friend" (lol) and show us how much you can fit into the same bag with all 2-3x sized clothes. I'm thinking I will just get the medium carry on so I dont have to worry about it. I am going to check out that back pack though! thanks
I'm a US size 20-ish (maybe a size 22 by now lol, I honestly don't know 😅), and I only ever back a carry-on bag! It's perfectly doable, and I honestly always end up overpacking and brining things I don't use. Pack clothes that all match, and that you can layer. You're better off with two thinner shirts than one very bulky one - layer if you need them, or wear them separately in warmer weather. Not all fabrics are created equal, either - I have "normal" t-shirts I can wear once or MAYBE twice before they need a wash, and I have two merino wool blend shirts that I can easily wear four times before they start feeling like they'll need washing (but honestly could still be worn in an emergency without anyone noticing). For summer, if you bring one or two pair of long trousers, two pairs of shorts, five short sleeve tops, a couple of cardigans or hoodies, a pair of comfortable walking shoes and a pair of nicer sandals &/or beach shoes, and a bunch of underwear, you'll probably be fine. Worst case scenario, you can always lightly wash your clothes in the hotel sink!
I'm plus sized as well (22) and I only pack in a carry on. She has packed way more clothing than I would really ever take. I'm getting ready to leave for Hawaii and have a half filled E-bags backpack with plenty of clothing for the week. We will be going to Europe next year for two weeks that will include a cruise and I plan to just keep things simple with using tank tops and adding a topper or a travel knit blazer, a few light dresses, a skirt, a pair of pants or two, shorts and a bathing suit. I have to say that I am consistently amazed at how many toiletries seem to be in these bags on pretty much every packing video I see....it's simple for me, my 2-1-1 bag of liquids and my Stowaway cosmetics. Packing light can definitely be accomplished as a fluffy girl, it just takes a little thinking out of the box!
Yes finally someone said it! As plus size our clothes can be three times the size of straight sizes. I can do carry one for a maximum of a week but any longer I struggle xx
Tried to get 18 days worth in my bigger carry on for a trip to New Zealand. Alas, because it is winter I couldn’t fit everything. So I went ahead and treated myself to a medium 😂 have fun! Thinking about doing Greece in a couple of years
Winter makes things a little trickier, huh? The medium is fabulous! To me it feels HUGE -- I honestly can't even fathom what you could fit in a large! haha
Did your away bigger carry on fit in the overhead bin? I can't decide between the carry on vs bigger carry on. I just heard for many international flights bigger carry on may not fit
Totally depends on the airline you're flying vs. the travel being on a domestic or international flight! Check the specs of the airline you plan to fly -- I've rarely ever had issues.
Finally a video with someone going on an international trip with the bigger carryon. I’m planning a 15 day trip to Europe in December and have been trying to find videos on people using the bigger carry on. I know European airlines have more strict requirements and have read it won’t fit but not many videos on using it abroad. I don’t want to check it either but hope to find more on those who have. I also have been researching and found some info but not much. Thank you for this video and I hope you’re able to travel without having to check it
Thank you so much! Once I get home I plan to do an update video to share everything I’ve learned, what I loved that I packed, what I wish I’d left at home, what I wish I packed, ETC! Stay tuned! ☺️
I would seriously recommend getting a lighter suitcase than the Away - a lot of airlines have (and stick to!) weight restrictions for carry-on bags, and the Away bags are VERY heavy. The smaller carry-on weighs 3.4 kg - that's more than twice something like the IT Luggage World's Lightest carry-ons (mine weighs 1.6 kg), and almost half the Aegean weight limit of 8 kg.
I think “very heavy” is quite relative, but you’re right, the away luggage does seem to weigh more than the luggage you’re referencing. I feel like, on average, my suitcase wouldn’t set it over the limit if I were traveling for a shorter amount of time that is more usual, a few days to a week. 15 days is definitely the exception as far as packing in my carry on goes, so I still think it’s a good buy for its functionality, durability, and efficiency!
Would have swapped the jean jacket for a nice wind-rain breaker jacket, less room and weight. Would have left the headphones at home and taken ear buds. I did a scout jamboree and only took a large backpack and a small day pack for 12 days. I looked at everything on how I could save space. Didn't take any liquids. took bar soap and a shampoo bar. We're hoping to our bucket list trip next year to Europe and will definitely doing it strictly carry-on. we done all our trips with carry on only, even a 7 day cruise. I also don't believe in packing cubes, waste of space. I did a pre-pack and tried the cubes, then tried rollling all my clothes. the best space saving way was leaving all my clothes folded flat, saved soooo much space.
Thanks for the video, I love how you packed and I hope you had a good time! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the ring you're wearing on your right middle finger? It's BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you so much! Both rings were passed down from family, actually! I believe the one you are asking about was my great grandmother's earring they she had set into a ring!
It's funny how many people go black and grey for convenience, then take brown shoes. I don't wear black. I wear blue instead, so my neutral/brown/beige shoes are perfect. I love the backpack. I live in the USVI, and there's no point wearing black. Also, linen shorts are de rigueur, whereas denim is for outdoor labor. Landscaping or roadwork. I have denim shorts for staining the deck. Check out linens by Kleen or Carve. Easy to pack, light weight, take up no room and a damp hand can smooth out any wrinkles. There must be an iron in my house from the last owner, but I wouldn't know if it works. A+ on the swimsuits.
this video probably work the best if i go to Jersey shore this Summer i am hoping, how much clothes together did you end up bringing? love this video i am always over packer
Well done, very organized packing and I love that backpack. I never pay bag fees, to me it's just a waste of money. So I only pack carryon, even if it's only 15 pounds. Did you use everything you took with you or were there clothes and shoes that you didnt use at all? I hope you had an amazing time on your travels.
I just ordered the Bigger carry on for a conference trip of 5-6 days because my old carry on feels so small to accommodate business clothes, etc. I have a question on your toiletries bag. Since the Carry on is not checked, how do you comply with the requirements on liquids being in a clear bag, etc.? Does the big toiletries bag have liquids in it?
For international trips, I typically use a clear plastic bag for toiletries that have to be examined at security checkpoints, and that lives in my backpack. For all other toiletries that aren’t gels, creams, liquids, or aerosols, they get packed in my bigger toiletry bag that lives in my roller suitcase. Hope this helps!
Usually it’s because of both on smaller airplanes. They typically have weight and dimension limitations, so it’s usually a combination of the two. If you do a lot of domestic flying it won’t be an issue!
It'll get nestled into my backpack! Since I was filming with it, I wasn't quite able to show that but probably should have mentioned it. Good question! haha
Omg Your vid is soo good did it the right way. Good use of clothes just should of added one more pair of pants and blouse in the carry on inside your backpack Im just saying good to have an extra easy access pair of clothing. Hope you had fun.
Funny you should say that! Haha I actually added just that to my backpack last minute before we left. I plan to do an update video on our trip for things we learned! Haha 😆
@@MaggiesTwoCents thats crazy! :O i'm from germany and its very stricked here. dont want to pay for overweight haha but cool. know i get the carry on "trend" when its not that stricked about weight :)
Yes! It’s been 100% compliant on Southwest, United, British Airways, and Agean so far. In all dimensions it falls below most airline allowances. It’s been so handy-I can’t recommend it enough!
They made us take it out of the actual luggage and put it in our backpacks! Very strange, since both were in the cabin with us, but that was the only weird thing so far.
We may be weird, but we aren’t big souvenir people! I’ll have plenty of space if I pick up something little, but we just like our pictures and memories the most!
@@MaggiesTwoCents I thought carry on haf to be 7kg or 10kg depending on the airline, at least that's how it's always been when I flew. I checked bags can be either 23 or 30kg. Which airlines allow 23kg carry on? Will have to check them out next time I fly somewhere. Thanks
8kg is typically the carry on in the cabin. My answer is the same regardless, though-there is not just one blanket airline weight policy. You have to do research beforehand! British airways lets you carry on 23kg and a personal item. It all varies!
I've found that I'm actually able to pack more without packing cubes! The kind I have are not compression cubes, so they don't actually save any space. They are more for general organization, and I feel like things are pretty organized. It's totally my personal preference!
WOW, that is a lot of clothes. I'm glad you're checking in your bag. If you can't lift your carryon bag to fit in the overhead compartment yourself, it's too heavy and too much. Seriously, you need to travel with less. As someone else mentioned, that back compartment pocket in your backpack, screams "steal from me." Don't put anything of importance there.
I was more than capable of lifting the bag on my own, and I traveled with everything I needed. That’s great that you seem to be able to pack less! You should make a video about it!
