What i like about the Xtool (my autel has the same feature) when selecting PIDs for live data, xtool and autel show the data PID and the current live data value, the launch only shows the data PID
Bro, I was as confused as you 😂, but after doing a deep dive, I found that the Launch model he's reviewing is the top choice among non-U.S. scanners being imported. If you try to buy a U.S.-specific model from a stateside seller with the same functions, it'll cost a few grand more, which is kind of nuts. The drawback with these non-U.S. models is the lack of U.S. Launch customer service, and apparently, the software may not function correctly or at all with some vehicles 🤷♂️. I watched another video where he sent his Launch back to Amazon because it couldn’t perform the same basic functions as an older scanner he used on his fleet of vehicles. It’s hit or miss, I guess. They do have some cool features, but I’m going with the newest Xtool flagship IP919 Pro 👍🏻.
So far I've found it's mostly the same (low priced) tablet for most of the Launch (CN) models of the same generation. I'm also pretty sure software is the same, just rebrands between sellers. I had a PRO3S V5 that I sent back because it kept crashing. Now I have the ACE, but after the first update, somehow it is now a PRO3S V5 😂 I have no idea if one software is better than the other. According to CPUZ, they are both the same 4 core 2ghz tablet. One thing I don't understand is why my old XTOOL D7S can pull keyfob pins nativily on my 2017 Dodge Caravan, yet Launch scanners can only read pins from much older vehicles. (Unless you purchase their separate module).
@@eap.productions The software between launch and xtool are totally different, xtool has much more key programming ability than any other dedicated scan tool on the market. Launch even told me that xtool is better for key programming.
Keep in mind the special functions do not work on all vehicles. So it is a mystery depending on the cars you scan. I had a D9S and sent it back after the power on switch was frozen off. I could not turn the dam thing on. Now I have a Kingbolin K10 which is similar to the X431Pro 3 ace. Excellent scanner. Stay away from the Xtool. I have sent back the D8S and the D9S
You really do great comparison and review videos on these tools. I've seen many of these videos made by you, and you do a phenomenal job. They are much more in-depth, and you do an awesome job describing and illustrating everything. Other reviwers just show you the same old bullshit you see in every video. Keep up the good work man!!
The only thing people are interested in is resetting the ECU then reading the trouble code on why the ECU caused the vehicle to go into limp mode. Tons of people are getting ripped off by bad mechanics not explaining this or resetting the ECU
xTool has lost my respect long time ago!! They would never give you a straight answer and follow through with their promises! Returned their D8BT almost a few months after purchase under warranty.
I am a DIY basic guy, I’ve seen 3 of your videos on the innova 7111, xtool, and launch, but looking for something that can program keys. It won’t be an everyday use, what would you recommend between xtool D9S, and the launch x431 pro3S plus ? As i am still learning from watching videos would the launch x431 pro3S plus or the xtool D9S still be good for DIY
The Xtool D9S has better key programming capabilities, but the Launch Pro3 has more add-ons, such as a scope, boroscope, TPMS, Battery tester, and better diagnostic functions. Either one will be a great DIY scan tool. The D9S Pro is on sale right now. amzn.to/3UenX8L Here is the launch amzn.to/48j8vhy

I did see that you chose launch over xtool for auto and for key programming you chose xtool. I’m looking for one that does great at both, would you have any recommendations ?
Thank you for the video! It was a great comparison. I will definitely go with XTool... By the way, do you know what would happen after the update subscription expires? I won't be dealing with latest vehicles so wondering if special features will still work if I do not renew the subscription. As far as I know, it seems like the LAUNCH will reaming working as long as you do not attempt an update. However, I have not been able to find anything about XTool scanners. Ty Ty!

@@altarace I would have to look but it may not be able to be disabled, it depends if Ford has the module programmed so it can be turned off or on. They may figure it is a liability issue to allow a scan tool to modify it so it might be hard coded into the module so it can't be turned off.
@altarace not sure on the scanner side of things, as I'm trying to decide what to buy, but I'm sure you can turn the chime off. I used forscan to do it on my 12 f150 and 18 f350
Just about all Bidirectional scan tools are able to do it. It just depends if the options are available in the vehicle's ECM. Both my D7S, ACE, and the PRO3S V5 I had ask the ECM what special functions are allowed, and the scanners list them for you. Came in handy when just booting around the farm where you don't bother with seat belts and don't wanna hear the annoying chime going off 😅
