I just purchased the X.431 Pro V5 with the bluetooth adapter and variety of plug adapters. I had to do a full brake system replacement on a 3rd Gen Prius that I own (abs actuator/w master cylinder assy. & accumulator/pump assy.) You’re only able to get so far manually bleeding the brakes, the brakes won’t function fully and the regen system will not work until you’ve bled the full system through the activation of different solenoids on different brake system circuits, cycling the accumulator at specific times, and recalibrating certain features related to those circuits … long story short I HATE paying the stealership or anyone else to do any kind of work on my vehicles and this tool allowed me to access the special functions you have to have to complete this process. For me the tool has already paid for most of its initial cost in my situation. It did take some playing around, I did run into a couple issues where I ‘rebled’ a couple items and rebooted the ECU and cleared some data and got it to finally finish the process (linear valve offset calibration) and its good as new now. I had a big ole’ smile on my face knowing I have a tool that will help me trouble shoot and even perform some special functions to keep my cars running myself 😃👍 first time using one of these tools was a success!

Excellent review. I just ordered one. Great price $524 US. I have to swap out a BCM module in a 2007 Mazda 6, I hope i can copy the info from the existing module and write it to the new one.

Will this program a 2013 Subaru WrX STI ECM, from what I can tell almost all units like this one work only on German/Ford cars which doesn't help me. Subaru's are at best only briefly mentioned by almost all manufacturers. I need to clone my old ECM including VIN which is going bad. I already have good OBD2 readers and can program some ECM functions with my Cobb tuner but not features like VIN number.
I don't think that this model allows such a function. Usually for this type of application you take the ECU to a remap company, they read it on the bench and with that file will write on a new ecu. Autel has some ECU cloning functions, but never had to use them.
Hi, I just receive my Lounch pr05.0. I made Registration, all what is in the manual. First ,he can not retive vin number from the car. And if you put it manualy all scan devices is " NOT INSTALED". I Try it on Bmw 4,5,6 series . Any sugesstions . Thank's in advace.
I am not official Launch support, but if you want for a small/big fee, I can log in remote to your unit and see what is happening. alternatively get in touch with the unit seller and they should help you. if not return the unit and buy from another supplier. I personally never had problems with scanning any BMW.
Most valuable bit of info I got here was with regard to the updates and fees, that was the most off putting part of the purchase.
A video dedicated to what is contained in the update would be great, for example does the update just give you software for the newest cars, or are there necessary updates for the software of the device (bug fixing etc)
Another question, regarding updates for individual car manufacturers- I believe I may have seen an option on another video, that you can choose updates for specific functions only or specific manufacturers only.
The updates can be for:
A. VEHICLE SOFTWARE to include new vehicles or to perfect function on the vehicles it already covers;
B. For the unit itself ( aka the app or even the VCI if you have one)
However, you can live without the updates.
Where you need the subscription is if you want to do some advanced online ECU Coding or software update.
And yes you can choose what updates you want to install.

I recommend the one with the wire as you don't need to charge it and it is better priced. for the other ones check on the website you buy stuff from and see what they have ...

Depends on the budget. For home use, I would try the Xtool A30M first, as it is the better priced tool.

I preferred the Thinkdiag to the XTool, even though it only has two years of updates and annoying adverts.
I favour my Topdon Artidiag 800 over both, as it is much nicer to use, but doesn't have the bidirectional control of the Thinkdiag.

It does not have topology. At the same time Topology does not bring any benefit to performing diagnostics. Especially on these universal units, the MAP, topology map can be highly inaccurate and should not be relied upon in performing diagnostics. I don't know what launch unit has topology.
What is the difference between local diagnose vs intelligent?
one is done remote over the internet and all data is saved on the cloud ... the other is done on the tabet ;)

yes
Can you program keys with it?
Yes for BMW ( I have tested it), and many other (theoretically... did not test yet on other cars).

Do you think it's better than TOPDON Phoenix plus?
you will hate my answer ... but it depends ... the phoenix plus has some things that make it a bit better for some use scenarios ... but the launch has the newest software ... with both you can't go wrong. Lately I use more the X431 + xtool for mileage correction
can you adjust idle speed with it?
depends on the software of the car. if the car allows for that I would think that this tool can do it.
It's good when you comparing with xtool. On launch i just think that the user interface is not very fun, a little old design
I have x tool d8. It it be worth the switch. Would like to do fca cars in the usa made after 2018. Does the have the same features if not more than the x tool.

after 2 years you can do diagnostics, however not online coding. for full function you get new subscription

A ton of scanners support what you have shown but hardly any support ECU coding. So why did you not look into this functionality?

@@BestCarMods I'd show what options can be changed using the tool. A native tool like Xentry (for Mercedes-Benz) supports a wide variety of configuration choices and it would be extremely interesting to see which subset of those are covered by a third-party tool.

Just watched a video and they said the tool doesnt do programming or coding? A shame how these companies advertised it as that because because it can code a program one car🤨
I can confirm that it can do programming and coding. Now for "reviews", I see many people just open the box, connect to a car and don't take the time to test the tool before to get the big picture of it's capabilities. Each to their own.
I seen one guy try it on a 2009 Impala functions were very limited one of the most sold cars in the United States
this is something that I notice with the "universal tools" from time to time they have some brands/models that they don't cover. You need to find what works best on your vehicle. Also Try Xtool, Topdon , Autel. if this fails ... you need to get the OEM stuff... or a SNAP-On@@bigblockcutlass123
@@BestCarModsi have a snap on verus pro with 14.2 software and just purchased verus edge with 21.4 software. 21.4 is full of propaganda trying to keep you buying the subscription. Bought an xtool d8 last year trying to avoid updating the Snap-on, but xtool is cumbersome to use over the Snap-on. Also need fca cars, signed up for auto auth and found out you needed updated or subscription to do anything with fca vehicles.

@@BestCarMods all makes and models but a lot of vw. I tried to do basics settings on a throttle body on a 07 golf the other day and it couldn't do it
strange. for me, I found it to run slow on the 2006 Honda accord, but it runs well. New vehicles where ok for me.@@mikeprada1677 did you have it connected to the internet ? try to do it via the Intelligent Diagnose function
This was using intelligent diagnose. I actually found local diagnose to be a bit quicker. I also tried to do basic settings on an 07 golf throttle body/intake flap motor and it wouldn't do it

I am looking at this or the snap on Apollo 9. The snap on doesn’t seem to be able to diagnose the be crafter. The launch seems like a really good tool for the money compared to snap on.
