my thoughts as well? what the heck? I have been watching Sean James for YEARS ... never had the impression that he was a millionaire! He lives on bear meat, and vegetables as far as I have noticed. Drinks tree water for coffee and showers in the stream nearby. No wonder his wife went back home after being offered that archaic washing machine.

I've been following Shawn & Cali & family with my 20 something yr old son since the beginning. Mr James and his family have made many sacrifices and critical decisions to provide a better life. A true testament to living their best life off grid
Shaun makes quality film. It interesting, he physically works hard and films and edits it incredibly well. The scenery is stunning and the b roll parts set to music is relaxing and moving. It is to me the best channel on UA-cam, incredibly successful and I'm not surprised he's made extremely good money, deservedly so. He deserves it.
@bechris9959 others may be doing it but nowhere near as good as this guy. Proof is in the pudding. He has more viewers and making more money. You can do the same but it's not just building a cabin, it's how it presented and this is presented extremely professionally. It's extremely watchable and that's what makes the difference. If others want the same attention they need to up their game on their presentation and make something to attract the audience. I watch a lot of these channels but nothing is as well done as this and that's what gets you pushed up the list. Haters will always hate success and misery likes company.
So I find your story misleading and full of error. Your pictures/video do a disservice to this man. I would say you know nothing more about him than the average subscriber does by watching his videos. At best this is click bait.

My self reliance is a healthy, good, beautiful and informative channel unlike the sick filth on other media channels , so my he be blessed in all he does ☺️
My Self reliance channel is the best that I have come across and have watched for years and will continue to watch. An informative, educational, relaxing fun filled, hunting, fishing, cooking, building, growing vegetables etc etc and no matter what age one is young or old this channel attracts. He is a very family orientated man and his family loves him too. What more can I say except Inspirational from beginning to end. Thank you 'My Self Reliance' James Shawn.
Shawn is probably the most hard work-discipline oriented youtuber out there. His channels have grown only because of his great perseverance and amazing content. Honestly, the video isn't so bad but the thumbnail... could be used in civil court for defamation. The fact that this comment section is full of nothing but great opinions of Shawn says everything.

This video is a good example of taking something good and draining it of the soul and heart that makes it real and good. This video is also a good example of why I block channels on youtube.
Ive followed Shawn and Cali from the beginning. You wont find a harder working, humble man. To my delight, i had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife when they came in to town.
Other UA-camrs could learn a lot from him: you don't need background music; you don't need to talk a mile a minute; you don't need post-modern sarcasm. What I love about his vids: they LET THE SILENCE SPEAK. Very simple, straightfoward and meditative - and very powerful!

I’ve followed Shawn James from the beginning of his videos and found so many helpful tips as to Self-reliance in the wilderness. Shawn is a inspiration to the many followers of this videos and an advocate of nature. With a beautiful wife and two beautiful daughter’s contributing to their new homestead it’s amazing to watch them grow. Daughter Emily has her own video channel that is awesome to watch as she has learned to be self-reliant beside he father.
Please show only clips of Shawn and family in your information regarding his Self-reliance channel, it’s very important to see a correct representation of his life. As for net worth, unimportant.

Emily is a fake and appears in bathing suits (bikinis) during black fly season. Shame is divorced, and lives in a suburban home near Huntsville. This guy is a 2-bit actor not a self reliant guru like your narrative falsely suggests.

He’s a man with devotion and compassion for his work. There’s a whole nation of lost superficial TikTok educated people out there who would do themselves a world of good by watching someone make a home from a bunch of trees and some nails. Too many phony people out there and he’s quite the opposite.
Money Matters I am one of his subscribers, i am from Australia i enjoy watching Shawn's videos. he had to leave his log cabins for safety reasons and he is building a new cabin some where else. I support his channel. i am sorry to hear his neighbour was threatening him and forced him to leave. I watch both his channels "My Self Reliance" which he doesn't say much, i am subbed to his "Shawn James" channel which he does explain things what he is doing etc.

I love that Shawn started over after some pesky neighbours harassed his family, so moved to a new place and built better place AND shared it with us on UA-cam. He is a winner in my mind.
I was wondering why did he move and start all over? What happens to the other cabin with the sauna etc? That place was amazing watching how he built it from beginning to the end
@@tonytriplett21 He was getting a lot of harassment from his neighbor, plus there was a chance that a road could be built right behind the cabin so he sold it. With the amount of work he put into that place it's pretty sad. He sued the neighbor but I don't think he ever said what happened with the lawsuit

Shawn is 1 of my favorite UA-camr's, & been watching him some about 2017, & just love the silence & him letting nature do its talking, & makes videos just as good as any network TV show, he honestly needs his own TV series, he deserves the wealth after making so many of us enjoy living through them!

I come from a small village in the south of Ireland there was no electric power in the area , radios were battery powered NO TV carpenters worked with hand tools only just like Shawn i spent hundreds of hours watching those men working they were professionals at their trades , carpenter, blacksmith , bicycle repair man , Shawn Please keep up the good work for all of us , PS we have a 12 year old golden retriever his name is Max looks just like Cali beautiful gentle dog ,Take care,

I love to watch him, he may not talk much, he certainly is entertaining, hard worker, a joy to watch, as it is relaxing to watch him, he is good at what he does, which is a wide verity of things. We should be watching him instead of you, he deserves the credit for what he does, not you. When we are on here he is not getting the credit, you are piggy backing off of him, getting credit you don't deserve.

I agree it’s click bait. And whatever he makes off UA-cam is none of anyone’s business. Also, when not in his cabin, especially with the new cabin he is building now, he lives with his wife. He also helps his daughter work on her cabin. And he still uses power tools. He used them when building his greenhouse.

This channel represents the complete opposite what "My Self Reliance" is all about and I find it cringeworthy that a channel called "Money Matters" would have any genuine interest at all in making a video about a topic that clearly shows that money and the pursuit of money is clearly unnecessary to live a happy and healthy life. I have been following Shawn James since Cali was a pup and I personally think his sites, not to mention his work ethic, building skills, video production and philosophy are by far the best You Tube has to offer.
