Hi Shawn, quick tip for you when using baking paper to line a bowl. If you quickly scrunch it up into a ball, open it, and scrunch it up again, it will then conform to any shape you put it in. So it will fit right in that bowl without popping out.
Great video. Enjoy your new cook stove.

Hey Shawn if you get yourself an old broom handle and cut it in half. Lay underneath your pallet or whatever you're moving, makes it a lot easier to move around and won't damage flooring. Great looking cookstove. Nothing like the smell of bread baking. I foresee some excellent pizza in your future.

I grew up with a wood cook stove on our farm in Kentucky in the 50's. Excellent choice of the stove for the cabin. I almost had the same oven in the place I lived before and I loved it and still miss it. I never had better chicken wings and other crispy stuff. Also cooking on wood is something very special. My stove model had what we call a “water ship,” a kind of bain marie, a pot integrated into the side of the stove with a connection to the water pipe. This means you always have several liters of hot water available. Another addition is the water pocket, also with a connection to the water pipe. A closed system with internal hot water also integrated into the stove. A type of boiler with a water pump that allows one or two radiators to be connected in the adjacent rooms.

This episode reminded me of when my Mom would make homemade rolls and tell us we couldn't run in the kitchen out the back door while they were settling back in the 70's. Those rolls were so good I wish I knew how to make them; it was a receipt she was taught by my grandmother. Likely similar only smallish balls of dough placed in the pan in a grid pattern, four across in the standard sized pan, put a little butter on those and you knew what bread was meant to taste like! Already watch the Shawn James episode so I'll leave this one to the cook stove side of things. Looks like a great choice.

Shawn: Thanks so much for completing the video before cutting into that beautiful steaming bread and devoring it. That would have been to much to deal with for your viewers at home!! Another excellent video.

Yes Cali we see you have made yourself a new outdoor cave under the porch, where you can keep an eye on whatever other lifestock is going about, hide from Dad when he is looking for you and at the same time stay fairly warm. I have not seen anything from Emily of late Shawn, so presume she is okay and no set backs from her concussion episode?

Great upgrade on the stove, sorry to not have been leaving any comments. But, I had been dealing with severe chronic nerve pain in one of my legs. From 26 operations and procedures, that were to help walk again. But instead each one made it worse, and I had to go through the process of deciding to have my leg amputated above the knee. I order to get rid of the pain and to walk again with a prosthetic leg. But now I can’t wait for the 29th of this month to have it done!

I was wondering why a new stove, but seeing the side oven addition for baking and the pull out cinder tray will be a great addition for cleaning.

I have exactly the same stove (La Nordica Rosa L) at home and I'm sure you will be happy with it. It works perfectly and heat the hole house (approx 1070 square feet). I certainly live in a less cold country than you (center of France) but winter can be bitterly cold. And this stove is also perfect for cooking and baking. Thank you for your wonderful vidéos, I've been following your Chanel for a long time and I really enjoy seeing all the things you do !

Beautiful stove Shawn, but I said that about the one that moved out. You'll get much enjoyment with the oven. Bread, cookies, muffins and Christmas turkey. Have fun, the hard work last year is paying off!!!

Hey Shawn, I like to make bread too, so I wanted to tell you about a hack...crumble the parchment paper up like it's a piece of paper you are throwing away. When you open it back up, it'll fit into the bowl more easily.
Love your videos! Hope the entire family will be together for the Holidays!😊

You're moving up in your off grid cabin Shawn. Those types of stoves really kick out the heat but they're a pain to move around and your first meal on a new cook stove. 👍
