The fact you’re learning as you go is very relatable because while it’s great to have experience in the trades like your dad is, not everyone has that background. It’s definitely a plus to have your dad for tips and tricks as you go along. I’m 53 and know no more than you do about renovating the cabin and other projects to come. One thing folks might like to know is the effort you’re putting into making the videos, audio, music etc must be at least as much if not more than the work you’re doing in the video itself.

I agree with you that painting the interior white will give it a much brighter open feel. We used to vacation on a resort in a cabin with nitty pine paneling from the 50’s. It was beautiful but made the small space darker. I love a cozy snuggle feel and that can be achieved with fabrics and accessories! You did a great job with the floor!

I disagree. When you're new to a market and trying to identify your target audience, you should be responsive to feedback. I'm obviously not saying to disproportionately spend time making public apologies to trolls. Adapting to legitimate criticism is part of growing. You can be less responsive when the channel is mature and viewers know what to expect.
Hi Emily. Congratulations on your channel. I was a department supervisor in the paint department at a Home Depot here in the States for several years. You are correct about the white and the comments here about size appearances. With your floor color may I suggest several primary colors to work with. Any colors and shades of the Navy or Royal Blue families. Also with that shade of Grey in the floor you'll be surprised to fine that Hunter or Forest Greens will also work. I would suggest you have your HD make you a sample size paint of a piece of your floor (color matched and flat or matte finish) and then on the color mixture sticker you'll have a read out of the component colors in you floor. This will guide you in color selections in the future. Then also find some scrap lumber and paint several coats of the sample, at least 3, on it and it can become your guide when you are looking at fabrics and accessories for the cabin. As an aside my degrees are Art and Music so I'm a colors person. All the best!
I think it’s very cool that Emily has decided to follow her Dad’s footsteps with doing a video series on her cabin renovation. I must say I’m very impressed her video presence. I had no inclination of how she would do, recording herself. As I watched I realized and thought for her only being 20, she does very well talking on camera for the first time herself! At the age of 20 this must of been tough, having the confidence to put herself out there. And talking on camera I’m sure is not easy starting out, she is doing a great job!! I hope she is successful with what she wants to do!! I also hope people are not to critical of her and try and give her a ton of unsolicited advice, as we all know everybody is an expert and feel they need to tell people how to do things🙄 I hope they just watch and enjoy her videos for what they are and let her do her thing. She already has a great teacher/support with her Dad, when she needs it. I have a feeling she will be very successful with this UA-cam channel and hopefully it will turn into her full time income needs...
Very nice mix of peaceful river nature images and music followed by the task of flooring, much like your dad’s channel, this combo works well, I think your channel will do well, especially if you keep it real, some mistakes which we all make, included for a visual lesson learned. I am sure if I had been spraying paint, I too would have sprayed upwind and got it blown in my face. That’s keeping it real vs a perfect edited version. Keep up the great content!

Funny thing, I did not even noticed the painting thing, even on other channel painting the wood really disappointed me. But there was a different situation. The aesthetics was central, and the inside was plastered, and on top of that was placed the planks, with intention of lacquering. Some fake decorative beams were already natural color. And then suddenly they decided to paint the wood. I see everywhere painted wood. Only furniture is lacquered, so painting wood is a cheap solution. And after going at lengths to do something nice, throwing a cheap solution, really turned me off. Why waste the wood if painted? Just let the walls as they were. White. I was aware that I have no reason to feel that way, I am just a casual viewer among some other millions, but that was what I have felt. But here, in this small cabin, the white came natural. . .
I have tons of respect for your Dad! He is what I would call a great role model. Im sure he raised you to be productive and humble. I will support you on your channel any way I can. Keep up the great work!

Definitely protect yourself from the nuts and try not to reveal your location....not even general location. You'd be surprised how these nutjobs out there can easily track you down with the smallest amount of information. And always have a dog and shotgun nearby just in case. Hey there I just came upon this video.. WOW!! Your lake venture was absolutely breathtaking, what a beautiful landscape! I also love you are making sweet memories with your father. I was a daddy's girl myself..spend as much time with your Dad as time permits, it's more important than anything else, you won't regret it. And when I was your age I went to school full-time(approximately 15+ hrs weekly) and worked a full-time job(40 hrs week) and a part time job on weekends..I also took yoga as an elective and on the weekends and staying busy kept me youthful and built my confidence. Good for u! Embrace your youth and do all u can..it will go by so fast. You are so pretty and well spoken and it seems you have had a good up bringing. It's so refreshing to see a young lady as yourself enjoying the outdoors and partaking in DIY projects, since unfortunately many of those your age currently don't do this. Keep up the good work and NEVER allow anyone to send negative posts and even continue to read it once u know it's a hater, u will occasionally receive them. I don't know your entire story, but from what I've gathered from just watching this video you are well on your way to a successful and happy life. I'm not sure if you are a spiritual individual, but I want u to know that God has huge plans for you and I'm praying for all your endeavors, and would ask you to start everyday with him. Just a few min. each day with a small prayer or reading scripture will keep you safe and on the right track!

When you get the other box of flooring its a good idea to get a spare box so that if the floor gets damaged you can replace the damaged bit with an exact replacement. I learned that one the hard way. Good luck with your projects.
And don’t worry about your choices, paint color or otherwise. They’re for you to make and live with, not for others. And I think white paint in a small cabin looks clean and tidy and spacious. It’s a perfectly good choice.

Remember this, most if not all of us have been watching your dad's channel and have the utmost respect for him in every way, courage, intelligence, fortitude, respect of nature, and above all his Self-Reliance. I agree with you that painting the interior white will give it a much brighter open feel. We used to vacation on a resort in a cabin with nitty pine paneling from the 50’s. It was beautiful but made the small space darker. I love a cozy snuggle feel and that can be achieved with fabrics and accessories! You did a great job with the floor!

I disagree. When you're new to a market and trying to identify your target audience, you should be responsive to feedback. I'm obviously not saying to disproportionately spend time making public apologies to trolls. Adapting to legitimate criticism is part of growing. You can be less responsive when the channel is mature and viewers know what to expect.

Hi Emily. Congratulations on your channel. I was a department supervisor in the paint department at a Home Depot here in the States for several years. You are correct about the white and the comments here about size appearances. With your floor color may I suggest several primary colors to work with. Any colors and shades of the Navy or Royal Blue families. Also with that shade of Grey in the floor you'll be surprised to fine that Hunter or Forest Greens will also work. I would suggest you have your HD make you a sample size paint of a piece of your floor (color matched and flat or matte finish) and then on the color mixture sticker you'll have a read out of the component colors in you floor. This will guide you in color selections in the future. Then also find some scrap lumber and paint several coats of the sample, at least 3, on it and it can become your guide when you are looking at fabrics and accessories for the cabin.
As an aside my degrees are Art and Music so I'm a colors person.

I think it’s very cool that Emily has decided to follow her Dad’s footsteps with doing a video series on her cabin renovation. I must say I’m very impressed her video presence. I had no inclination of how she would do, recording herself. As I watched I realized and thought for her only being 20, she does very well talking on camera for the first time herself! At the age of 20 this must of been tough, having the confidence to put herself out there. And talking on camera I’m sure is not easy starting out, she is doing a great job!! I hope she is successful with what she wants to do!! I also hope people are not to critical of her and try and give her a ton of unsolicited advice, as we all know everybody is an expert and feel they need to tell people how to do things🙄 I hope they just watch and enjoy her videos for what they are and let her do her thing. She already has a great teacher/support with her Dad, when she needs it.
I have a feeling she will be very successful with this UA-cam channel and hopefully it will turn into her full time income needs...

Very nice mix of peaceful river nature images and music followed by the task of flooring, much like your dad’s channel, this combo works well, I think your channel will do well, especially if you keep it real, some mistakes which we all make, included for a visual lesson learned. I am sure if I had been spraying paint, I too would have sprayed upwind and got it blown in my face. That’s keeping it real vs a perfect edited version. Keep up the great content!

I painted inside my 16x24 white for same reason
Funny thing, I did not even noticed the painting thing, even on other channel painting the wood really disappointed me. But there was a different situation. The aesthetics was central, and the inside was plastered, and on top of that was placed the planks, with intention of lacquering. Some fake decorative beams were already natural color. And then suddenly they decided to paint the wood. I see everywhere painted wood. Only furniture is lacquered, so painting wood is a cheap solution. And after going at lengths to do something nice, throwing a cheap solution, really turned me off. Why waste the wood if painted? Just let the walls as they were. White. I was aware that I have no reason to feel that way, I am just a casual viewer among some other millions, but that was what I have felt. But here, in this small cabin, the white came natural. . .
I have tons of respect for your Dad! He is what I would call a great role model. Im sure he raised you to be productive and humble. I will support you on your channel any way I can. Keep up the great work!

Definitely protect yourself from the nuts and try not to reveal your location....not even general location. You'd be surprised how these nutjobs out there can easily track you down with the smallest amount of information. And always have a dog and shotgun nearby just in case. You remind me of my Niece...she is similar to yourself, young, intelligent, resourceful, beautiful and willing to work extremely hard. All those are rare in today's women and that is precisely why you will stand out for Men that want a really strong woman. Becareful and listen to your Dad.

Hey there I just came upon this video.. WOW!! Your lake venture was absolutely breathtaking, what a beautiful landscape! I also love you are making sweet memories with your father. I was a daddy's girl myself..spend as much time with your Dad as time permits, it's more important than anything else, you won't regret it. And when I was your age I went to school full-time(approximately 15+ hrs weekly) and worked a full-time job(40 hrs week) and a part time job on weekends..I also took yoga as an elective and on the weekends and staying busy kept me youthful and built my confidence. Good for u! Embrace your youth and do all u can..it will go by so fast. You are so pretty and well spoken and it seems you have had a good up bringing. It's so refreshing to see a young lady as yourself enjoying the outdoors and partaking in DIY projects, since unfortunately many of those your age currently don't do this. Keep up the good work and NEVER allow anyone to send negative posts and even continue to read it once u know it's a hater, u will occasionally receive them. I don't know your entire story, but from what I've gathered from just watching this video you are well on your way to a successful and happy life. I'm not sure if you are a spiritual individual, but I want u to know that God has huge plans for you and I'm praying for all your endeavors, and would ask you to start everyday with him. Just a few min. each day with a small prayer or reading scripture will keep you safe and on the right track!

When you get the other box of flooring its a good idea to get a spare box so that if the floor gets damaged you can replace the damaged bit with an exact replacement. I learned that one the hard way. Good luck with your projects.
And don’t worry about your choices, paint color or otherwise. They’re for you to make and live with, not for others. And I think white paint in a small cabin looks clean and tidy and spacious. It’s a perfectly good choice.
