    Do you have a video on what pa system/speakers/subwoofers you use?

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  2 роки тому

      I don't., I suppose I could do that. I use studio monitors for my ekit as they sound really good. The PA my band uses to jam s garbage lol. We have a Tapco powered speaker which isn't too bad though.

    What's the best speaker to use while practicing to run just kick drum triggers

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  10 місяців тому

      Anything with enough power to hear it. For a few hundred a powered pa speaker you can plug right into from the module

    I know nothing about triggers and a little confused at 1:40. So triggered drums will always be at the same volumes or can you still have dynamics?

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  3 роки тому

      You can set the dynamics to 1 level, or have the dynamics match your playing. It works both ways.

    I'm having trouble with settings on the DM5 with an RT-30 trigger. Bass drum is stuffed with blankets but I still can't keep my rimshot snare hits from setting off the trigger. Do you think getting a TM-2 module would help eliminate the double triggering? At the moment I can't get my sensitivity high enough to trigger double strokes and it's driving me nuts!

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  8 років тому +3

      I have delt with this..... I can't say forsure that the TM-2 will fix this, but I do find i have WAAAAAY less issues than when I used to use my dm5...... trigger placement is a big thing, you could try moving it around the bass drum to see if it helps, right now i have mine quite close to the floor on the left side and not right under the snare.... bass drum tension is another one.. You may still need to drop the sensitivity or up the threshold... It's tough to say. Either way getting a TM-2 is 1000x better, using your own samples instead of "producer" or "speed metal" is already a win.

    • @theendofanage
      @theendofanage 8 років тому

      beyondbetrayal Thanks for the insight on the TM-2! I'm going to keep trying different trigger placement positions and hopefully I'll come up with a solution. I'm tempted to try the axis ekits, any success using double strokes with those?

    How do you use triggers live? Is it a DI into the soundboard or something?

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  2 роки тому

      Ya, I just have a line out on my TM2. I use a 1/4 inch cable and the sound guy gives me a DI box.

  • @alanhatedrummer
    @alanhatedrummer 8 років тому +2

    Thanks so much for this video!! I watched an older one you posted on PDF and then I got here lol. I don't have a single piece of gear for triggering but I'll have to invest on it sooner or later, and as I don't have an Axis with Ekits, I need to learn a lot of stuff or at least have a good reference because I've seen how the struggle of double and false triggering is lol.
    I'll subscribe so I know when you upload new information!! Cheers!!

      Already subbed! The Yamaha EAD10 looks interesting but I'm not even going to look to see what it costs...
      I already use the Laser-Pick, thought I'd ask since my DDrum and Roland triggers gather dust now, keen to hear other drummer's experiences with it.

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  6 років тому

      Do you do doubles or singles on the kick? what is your module?

    • @victorsupreme214
      @victorsupreme214 6 років тому

      Doubles all the way! I learned how from You (Thanks bro!) and Jordan Perry from Derelict ua-cam.com/video/5xbvtI_Xyr8/v-deo.html
      I used to use a TD-9 which shat itself, but since I only trigger the kick I downgraded to a TM-2 which got stolen not even a week after I got it so I bought a cheap 2nd hand Medelli kit because I didn't want to care if it broke or got stolen, but as it is with the Laser Pick I just use the Auxillary input and the Laser Pick on-board sounds.
      For band sessions the trigger is run direct to the desk and then either out to speakers or my headphones depending if I use acoustic or mesh head on the kick.

    How do connect to an interface (Tascam Model 16)

  • @Rockysbeats
    @Rockysbeats 7 років тому

    can you bypass the drum module and plug the triggers straight into your audio interface and have each trigger as its own channel like how you would record a regular kit with mics?

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  7 років тому +2

      No.. You need a module. The module sends the audio signal to to the interface. The other option is to take MIDI from the module to the interface and use a program on the PC for the audio samples.

    Hey man great video. One question. You may have answered this but I'm kind of in a rush so I couldn't watch the entire thing. If I want JUST a bass trigger to put it in my practice room, not to play along with music or anything. Just simply to use a trigger through a speaker. What do I neee? As far as I'm concerned, I need the trigger, module, speaker, and of course cables to connect speaker and trigger to module. Am I missing something? Or is that basically it?

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  8 років тому

      Fur Coat trigger . cable to module. module. ... then. you either need a PA system or powered speaker. you would run a cable from the trigger module to either of those

    I have the TM-2 with a TD-10K trigger. Seems like no matter what I try, no matter how I adjust tyre threshold and sensitivity, my snare randomly sets it off. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  6 років тому

      Don't put the trigger right under the snare, try and offset it to the right of the kick drum a bit. turn threshold up, turn sensitivity down, make sure you have more blankets/pillows in your kick and maybe tighten the batter head a bit. xtalk and retrig won't have any change in that issue.

    I've learned a lot from all your vids, even got the tm2 as ive been wanting to switch to a triggered set up. My band has been recording and I havent found any good metal samples for my kick. Where do you find yours at by chance?

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  6 років тому

      You can load any sound on it you want. It has to be a 16bit wav file... Just load it into your DAW and render it. One of the best features of the TM-2. Appreciate you watching the videos. Hit me up if you any questions. or add my FB "scott patterson drummer" and I could try and send you a wav file

      I just added a Roland kick trigger into my acoustic kit. Its powered through the Yamaha DTX 502 module. Ive spent about 4 hours today getting no where with this trigger. The doubles im playing, just for set up, arent coming through the trigger as they are being played. Im basically getting sporadic singles with this trigger. Do you have any thoughts on how to remedy this? Im using an aquarian superkick II head. Thanks!

    Thank you for this amazing tutorial, and for sharing it !! I'm a begginer in what trigger concerns so this is pretty helpful, just I have a question (probably a stupid one, sorry) Can I use a guitar amp to connect the module, instead of a PA or monitor? Will it work? Thank you man for helping me out. Greetings from México City.

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching dude! I have used many guitar amps in my day for a "PA". Our singer has for vocals, and me for drums. Just don't overload it.. PA's are usually louder depending on the system. I recommend taking a bunch of the bass or low end out of the sample, or the EQ on the amp to get extra volume. Having it sound more "clicky" will be louder and cut the mix better.

    Hey there, I just got the tm2. And I’m trying to hook it up to my kick drum with the DDrum kick trigger. I’m getting nothing. Is this trigger compatible? And do I need certain cables for it to work? Thanks for your time!

    • @beyondbetrayal
      @beyondbetrayal  6 років тому

      That trigger will work. getting nothing? when you press button one and 2 on the module you should get a noise. That is test one. if you are it has to be 1/4 inch at the TM2 and i think those ddrms are XLR? or are they redshots. turn the threshold down and sensitivity up and see what happens next.
