The way Kirby walks up to Jill’s outfit and just stares it at … broke my heart. She doesn’t even mention the fact that it was her best friend. She just refers to her as a “ghost face killer of 2011.”
I loved how the the ghostface was just RUTHLESS! The way he followed them into the store when they thought they were safe but then walks in and starts killing people 🤯
That’s when I knew it was the cop cause cops do shit like that. 😩😂 Bodycamera and everything cops just don’t care and tgink they can get away with anything
The good thing is, even though the Ghostface identities were kinda wacky, that moment when Tara and Sam are back-to-back, bricks in hand, forced to compose themselves and really fight one Ghostface each to protect themself and the other, in a trapped environment, was truly one of the most raw moments in the franchise. It really screamed 'ya, no where else to run, we gotta fight to the death.'
@@KUSHDUNN i even loved how not only did they mention the previous ghostface killers but showed how they look… when the cop was talking to sam and tara and said the dna on the mask came back to Roman i was like “wait what, how roman dna is on the mask” also the tv kill on the brother, was such an amazing callback and kirby said i saw that in a scary movie once this movie was golden. Really was such an exciting time seeing it today
Annika death was so sad, like it seriously hurt me to see her go, like ghostface cut her so deep and she was bleeding out quickly A LOT and i know she was feeling pretty weak she knew she would die, there was no way she was surviving that, it was like she was losing one pint every 5 secs, it was brutal
Yeah let me tell you this one really was different.. I think I got the most emotional when random store patron number two died. You can have somebody kill a boss of people it doesn’t matter if you don’t even know who they are. I understand it’s subjective but when they ghost face killers are the only memorable deaths (outside of 1) than there is a problem Also I’m not including the opening kill because you would have to be a moron to forget that. It’s the open lol
It is more a "haha gotcha" to the audience for sitting through the credits than any dig to other movies. The latest scream movies have been all about the fans, not the movies. After I sat through credits and saw that I thought "yeah you got me..."
I was annoyed by it, I only sat through the credits and Demi song because I saw a bunch of posts that "Scream finally has post-credits scene so stick around!!" and then it was just like ha sike we don't need one! Like ok??? You could've had a good post-credits scene instead of being like "we're not like those other movie,s we don't need one so let's just be ironic"
I love how they foreshadowed Sam and Tarra “letting go” of each other in the beginning as if it was a bad thing but then later on towards the end happens to be a good thing because it saved both of their lives
Ewww. Hated the heavy handedness of that obvious foreshadowing. Also the third act in general was ass. I'm so disappointed. This has to be the weakest reveal in franchise history
@Noahlol14 Spinach what? The family reveal is stupid. This man just got MORE of his family members killed, while tryig to avenge his dead son smh..Also, how the hell does the whole police department not know one of there officers kids was GF less than a year ago and was apart of a brutal massacre? Bailey should have been suspect #1 and shouldn't have been on the case. That third act was horrible and the acting during the reveal was even worse. A franchise LOW third act
Seeing 2 ghostfaces stabbing the shit out of one person was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Along with them both doing the signature knife wipe afterwards 🤩🤩
@@soo1579 True, but this time him surviving detracts from the amazing killing scene they created. Now that scene is not “that” cool anymore. If you know what I mean…
@@jkicustoms8519 I get what you’re trying to say. I really do like Chad’s character even if he did die I’d still accept it because of how amazing and impactful his death would’ve been. I feel like this movie referenced Scream 2 a lot, with the whole family thing, so maybe Chad surviving was supposed to be a callback to Dewey surviving in Scream 2?
I LOVED how ghostface had 0 fears. Daylight, people in public stores?? Stabby stabby🔪 bullets bullets Speaking of stabby stabby, I officially am a Sam fan. The girl is FANTASTIC with a knife!!! I was cheering lol
What I honestly loved about Scream VI was pretty much how the core 4 characters evolved from 5CREAM, and how they all really became loveable as the movie progressed to where I never been that attached to not see them die, that tense feeling of any of the core 4 dying feels pretty good for a slasher movie!
@@s1storm so many Clues. Remember when they find out That ghostface Is in gales apartment? Sam says “my friend danny works near there.” Then he doesn’t pop up until they are at the hospital! Then the Scene in the store ! “Quin” faked her death and the brother was back at the apartment while cop is on duty “CUTE BOY.” Was the only one who was pushed out and wasn’t there plus he has the strength. I just believe he actually did fall in love with sam
One little detail that I really liked was how they connected Kirby and Sam knowing each other from high school. It was such a small and subtle thing but I loved it!
I really want him to be the killer in the next movie, although he should have been the one here. Seriously, one of the original killers paying an omaj to what has come after what he did
I especially loved Ethan Kersch’s initial “death” in the film. Tara putting that knife into his mouth and twisting it was insanely gnarly and I loved it. Can’t wait for 7!!
Did you notice how Ethan flinched a little when the Dad was praising Richie as his first born son? I think Ethan’s participation was more for approval than revenge.
@@kristi4113 now that you mention the approval over revenge it makes sense for Ethan’s character. Especially with the group kinda leaving him out on a lot of the group outings and conversations it seems like he just wanted to be apart of something and accepted
the character development for the entire "core four" was so much more satisfying this time around. really felt as if I cared for the characters much more than the paper-thin ones from the last film. I now feel like the core four resembles the original cast; solid personalities and enjoyable to watch on screen.
I agree. It was such a rollercoaster. It started off so cliche. The meta dialogue. When she mentioned something red, I heard that line about now there being something red. And then when they revealed the killer, I thought maybe it was a similar situation to “Scream 4”, and it was really a scene from “Stab”. But then he interacted with Tara and I was thrown. Then we ended with the head in the fridge, and I knew that we were in for a ride.
@@gaybetch I think when they moved together as Tara told Bailey when they were being questioned after the bodega that they moved to New York in the summer and since this is a year after Scream 5, I would assume Chad, Mindy, and Tara are freshmen in college. And because I’m sure of how close of a bond they all seem to have with one another not just throughout the film but in the first 45 minutes with Mindy watching out for Tara as that frat dude was about to take advantage of her or how Chad was immediately there to defend her, or Chad trying to get the girls to stop arguing out in public after the frat house before the whole group helps calm Sam down after those rude girls try to start things with her or telling her how they don’t hate her even though she feels everyone else does. So Tara and Chad’s relationship definitely was natural and didn’t feel forced or random to have at all. It would’ve been cool to have some sort of flashback from the summer to see maybe where Chad’s and Tara’s feelings started to develop for another because it wasn’t said when in the summer they moved to NY, but given his whole movie takes place around Halloween, that’s like 2-4 months (depending on if they moved in August right before the start of the school semester or earlier like in June or something). So they probably all got super close from the trauma bond they’ve all formed together and spend a lot of time in the summer being new to NY. As in the movie they basically admit they’re like each other’s family due to how Tara’s and Sam’s mother is out of their lives and twins lost their family too.
Despite a few small grifes. This was no doubt my favourite sequel. I would have liked to see Ethan’s ghostface stay nervous and awkward once he revealed himself and maybe even uncertain whether he’s doing the right thing helping his dad and sister. It would have been something different and would have worked better. Like when the Detective mentions losing his first born and Ethan gives that kinda sad look. I wish they built more on that.
I definitely agree with this. But then I wonder if they didn’t go that route on purpose to avoid the audience possibly feeling sorry for Ethan. If he were to be even a little unsure, it would result in an uneasy feeling when he’s eventually killed. But yeah personally it would’ve been cool to me to see him possibly change his mind and do the right thing. I don’t think it would be super unbelievable for this to happen if he’d been manipulated by his dad
Loved how the opening scene was so unique and out there and we got some of the best scenes in the series (ladder scene, Gale’s call & chase scene with GF, Bodega scene).. also thought they did an excellent job using NYC as a setting. This felt like a movie that Matt & Tyler wanted to make and it shows!
Anika's Death was so mean and cruel, and since the "core four" were never going to die in this movie, on a second watch Anika feels like a sacrifice and as much as I love the scene, I don't know if I love that she was one of so few characters who were neither core four or a ghostface that mattered, and still died.
Fr in my opinion, Anika's death is the most brutal and tragic kill in the entire scream franchise. She was nearly gutted in front of her friends and gf who couldn't/ didn't act fast enough to help her. If they did, she wouldn't have been as injured & would've been able to successfully cross the ladder. On top of that I think she knew she wouldn't survive which is why she went last.
@@biancascandy5001 I agree that Anika’s death had such a profound effect on me out of the deaths from 5 and the others from this movie. Granted Chad’s “death” had me screaming in my head “no” because I didn’t want him to go like that after him and Tara admitting their feelings. I didn’t expect them to be together, but I really enjoyed it and want to see more of them together. I loved how he was beating the absolute crap out of the GFs, but thought it was ridiculous that out of how hard him and eventually Sam and Tara were hitting them in the face/head, I’m surprised the GFs didn’t get knocked out because those masks I doubt help with much of the impact from those punches, heavy object hits, and kicks to the head. To go off what you said more about Anika though, it was sad no one could really help her out after she was stabbed, had the knife twisted deeper into her, and then started to be forced up into her before Sam came with the wood blocker and beat it over the GF’s head. Also thought you have to remember that these GFs really planned things out and with Quinn being the roommate I’m sure she had all the knives removed knowing Sam or someone would go for them given when the news came on of GF masks being sold at high volume in NY, and Sam immediately goes for the chef’s knife from the knife block in the kitchen as she tells Tara to start packing. Plus Quinn’s body was literally pushed on to the group. Tara and Chad ran down the stairs thinking everyone else had followed only to realize they were still up there while Anika tried to wrap around GF’s legs so they couldn’t move and attack Mindy. Overall, it was so sad to see that she knew she probably wasn’t going to make it, yet it was the belief from the others that she would as she was trying to cross the ladder. Having the ladder be jumbled around from GF in that scene had me at the edge of my seat and then my jaw to the ground after her death. The acting in that moment felt so raw, especially with Mindy bawling her eyes out of heartbreak as she saw it all unfold.
what annoyed me was not one person pulled out their phone to ring for help or film ghost face's attack. Also isn't this supposed to be in America ? and not one person had a gun ? we in the UK are forever hearing about the out of control gun use in America and how they shoot each other over nothing & your telling me not one person in that whole apartment had a firearm. Someone make it make sense
@@frankfontaineofficial okay that’s actually accurate that someone would’ve had to at least have a gun like especially Sam or Tara or even one of the twins
I loved how actually scary and suspenseful this movie was!we never really have gotten a scream movie where you are completely on the edge of your seat for as much as I was during this one
I love how suspenseful this movie felt, it really felt like anyone could be killed, and to me aside from 5 ghostface has never had such a menacing presence before
I LOVED the character development in 6, especially the bond we got to see between ‘the core four’ this film really established each one to be an important factor, I genuinely cared if one of the four died. Gale’s first phone call was done so right it was so intense!!! And Kirby being back was magical, The ladder scene was truly heart breaking we all knew the death was coming but it was so hard to stomach if you get my drift.
I loved how they included references from every other scream movie and how there was 3 killers... honestly when they hinted at Stu possibly being alive I thought he was coming back.👻🔪
I loved the character development in this one. Not just for the core four but for almost the entire cast. I felt like Kirby could’ve been more fleshed out but then I thought to myself they weren’t trying to flesh her out too much due to the speculation that she could’ve been a killer! So to me it made sense. I love mostly all of the characters
Knowing who the killers are, I’m surprised she wasn’t singled out by Ghostface and killed. Especially since she was actively investigating the situation. You’d think he’d follow her home
@@dustin4621 that’s true but him being a cop a lot longer than her being a detective gives him an advantage at hiding stuff that she would need to know who the killers were
Also it begs the question, was she even that useful of a character in this movie? It could be said that she was only introduced because she’s a legacy character
i loved the opening of the movie and how different it was. the one liners of “now i see something red!” and “who gives a **** about movies!” were so good too. i liked the toss up with kirby in the end too and how they wanted some people to think maybe kirby just snapped after what happened to her
Yea it was kinda like yea these character can't bleed out I guess. Although I presume they though Chad was dead already but leaving Kirby and killers not finishing her off was weird.
I love how Ghostface is just BRUTAL in this one. Taking Olivia's death from Scream 4 and doubling it! Every stab and every knife turn just made me wince. It was great, the visual of the attacks and the sounds! Ghostface was DETERMINED in this movie, the chase scenes made it even better showing just how much he meant business.
@@excaliber8713 he killed Jason..woulda been cool if all his victims' first names matched up with horror icons: Freddy, Michael, Chucky, Carrie, Megan, etc
I loved the conversation between ghost face and gale. Specifically, the moment when he told her that she woulda been a great killer. That Sidney would have never been believable, Dewey was the fan favorite, but gale maybe she woulda made sense.
I mean we do see she is obsessed with Ghostface in her own way, making fortune from the name and mask just like Randy said she could be back in 2 but I do think she is more good than bad now.
It makes perfect sense. Tara said is best, without the Ghostface Killings, she would fade away. Just imagine, the attacks just stop after a couple years and Gale is back in her “tarnished brand” phase like Scream 4. Therefore she does what she has to, don the Ghostface costume and go on her own killing spree and then reporting on them. That would be insane.
I loved how the beginning was different and the time they spent to make you fall in love with these new characters. Def ready for the next generation of Scream.
new characters ? everyone played the same role same personality and acted the same. Not one person had individuality. They just performed ' students at college'. Not one single subculture (apart from jockstrap Chad) You couldn't even tell who was gay or who was straight which was also so unrealistic.
1:06 I honestly loved the beginning of this movie just because you kinda get it from a killer’s perspective and it got me thinking imagine a SCREAM but from the killers perspective
The opening scene was soo freaking cool! It made perfect sense and really showed that this film was ready to be as different as possible! I love how many risks this movie takes!
Watched it 3 times and it got even better and better even without Sidney (it’s good to know the best final girl is safe now with her husband and her kids).Scream 1 is my Fav horror movie of all time and it’s such a good feeling to see how good they can get even after so much years. I’m so hyped for part 7 (Stu🤞). I Love Scream
I LOVED the scene where both ghost faces were just going at it on chad, the brutality of that scene alone was just *mwah* chefs kiss 😂 Or when gale put ghost face on hold and he's just like "what" 😂
It hit me during the double knife wipe scene that that moment was the first time we have ever seen both ghostfaces in costume at the same time also I do wish Jason and Greg teamed up with the actual ghostfaces and given 5 with better motives and had a Jill and Charlie like betrayal at the end leaving one or two people alive
Something I just love about the movie is how they utilized the New York setting and they implemented that into the set pieces. This movie is definitely my favor since the sequel. Can’t wait to see it again!!
I loved the suspense element and the fact that they brought back chase scenes. Also they really developed the characters in the core four and I really liked it. One thing I would’ve improved is made the killers after the reveal scarier and more capable especially because of how strong they were under the mask.
@@HORROR4EVER me too. It was a great SCREAM movie. But just like this review said, it still wasn’t perfect. I just know the perfect SCREAM sequel does exist.
One thing I think they really nailed with this entry is raising the tension and suspense. Those subway and bodega sequences were incredible and had me at the edge of my seat! Another thing I absolutely adored about this installment was the setting. They really took full advantage of the NYC setting and it led to sequences (like the subway and bodega scenes) that I’m sure will be fondly remembered in the future.
The opening kills of this movie is very different and very smooth how they filmed it. I was okay with the motive but the action, horror, thriller, drama and a little bit of comedy was played very well into this movie and ima say this is the best since the original 🖤
i LOVED The Reveal, it made sense, i had doubts about Bailey, Ethan a bit but we have suspicions about ALL THE CHARACTERS. Quinn didnt see it coming they got me. I love how the sequel to the original sequel was in line with it, elevated. Plus them wanting to make Sam the ghostface was cool. and they were so brutal. the final act was so intense i LOVED IT.
I loved the movie too, everything about it. Loved that I reflected scream 2, but as you said more elevated and I love that there were still a lot of parallel scenes to scream like when Sam tries to punch Gale, but misses until Tara gets one in instead. This scream film for me out of all the others literally had me on the edge of my seat, jaw dropping, heart sinking, and anxious with how intense and gruesome things were in this movie compared to the others. I will say though that I had my doubts on Ethan and guessed he was one of them from the start, but that was also because a lot of people after watching the trailers had their suspicions on him. Bailey I was surprised about because once Kirby brought them to the theater again and they all split up, the music they started playing and her face as she went a different direction made me think she was the killer that had tricked them/trapped them. Thought her motive for why wouldn’t of made much sense to me. After watching it a second time, the first time Friday and the second time today, I realized how I missed some subtle behaviors from Bailey with how weird he was acting. Like I get if he had actually lost Quinn, had he not been the killer alongside his kids how it was reasonable for his acting which is prob the first time around why I was also shocked to find out Quinn was alive, but after seeing it that second time I realized just how suspicious his behavior actually was with some of the things he said. Even Sam questions Bailey for why she had the case file and mentioned how much of a “coincidence” it was for him to have it given he’s her father’s roommate. Especially after they all had that convo with Mindy saying how Quinn was a huge prime suspect despite the anonymous listing she accepted to live with Tara and Sam, but also saying how with her father being a cop it would be perfect because then he could cover it all up. So after the second time it made more sense with the subtle clues I missed that it was him.
This movie was so intense. I absolutely loved it. The reveal was believable and the opening scene was pretty awesome like WTH ?!?! He took off his mask
First, I love that there was a opening reveal!!! Second, loved the on the street attack of Tara then into the Bodega. Third, the appartment scene was suspenseful AF. Fourth, the punch to Gale from Tara. 🙌🏽 Fifth, the subway scene was too real! 🫣 Lasty 6th, that double swipe of the knife AT THE SAME TIME was absolutely BEA-Utiful!!!!!!! And those were my key favorites of the movie!
i loved how suspenseful and more crazier scream vi out of all the other screams. the way they showed more then we have ever seen in a scream movie! the kills always made me want to cover my eyes and there was 2 scenes where I legit cried because i had such an emotional connection to the characters. I also just loved they made a whole new motive for the killer, where a whole family was so mad that someone murdered there close relative even tho they killed a bunch of ppl
I saw this in 4DX, and it was insane. Honestly I think this has one of the best openings in the franchise, such a fun twist on it, even if the killers were underwhelming in the end.
I agree with your comments about how Gail would have researched Richie for her book. And it's frustrating because that could have been so easily handled by her saying something like, "He really was a ghost. Fake name - fake past. We found nothing on him."
I REALLY enjoyed the thought I had (upon 2nd viewing) that they could very well be moving into “franchise” territory just not horror. The death fakeouts- Chad’s particularly, in both movies- make it feel like F&F. Mindy will realize in her Scream 7 monologue that THE CORE FOUR ARE PRETTY MUCH INVINCIBLE. I really got a Batman & Robin feel from Sam and Tara at the end- vigilantes taking out criminals together ❤ And Kirby (who confirmed to the girls that they’re now FAMILY 😂) will be their Jim Gordon. That’s my wild take 😊
I absolutely LOVED how the movie subverted my expectations, especially the opening. It completely subverted my expectations for how the movie would start out, and even how they place lines in for how the 2 were trying to get Sam and Tara in the same place at the same time. Absolutely genius, and this film was absolutely brutal to a lot of the victims.
I love the aesthetic of the killers staying in the robe after the reveal. It’s what makes Roman one of my favorites (love the line about him being the only single ghostface. It made my heart happy that he got some recognition). All plot holes aside, me being a very aesthetic person, this movie looked great and ghostface looked phenomenal
The other thing I loved was how they put some of the screamverse sounds in 6 that was missing from 5 they gave us Red Right Hand Such a scream soundtrack as soon as that beat started it made it feel more like scream to me those bone chilling scores from the first one is what made the movie chilling and terrifying to me gave it more of a spooky atmosphere
the way I reacted when they did the fake out Ghostface reveal, loved that part. I really like the ladder scene firstly because it reminds me of 'Nerve' and the intensity of it.
I loved how they had me going for a sec that Kirby was behind it. Just going nuts after the stuff that happened to her in 2011. The killer reveal and their being "5" Ghostface killers was awesome. One of the killers being revealed right away was refreshing for an opening kill scene.
I really loved this whole movie. I was on the edge of my seat since the very beginning. I liked when Jason took his mask off because I, along with the whole theater, was incredibly confused. I like how the writers changed up the opening kill. I also really liked how this movie was very character centered and each character was valuable. Sometimes in Scream movies, like in scream 2 or 3, there are characters in the friend group or characters that we heavily focus on that I do not care about at all, however I really adored each character in the friend group (until we found out Ethan was GF because I was convinced he was a red herring. You definitely got me thinking more about the absurdity in the reveal with the dad being a cop with a fake name, using a prosthetic, etc. I would argue that these characters, despite not having a plan to get away with everything, did the whole revenge thing as good as (if not better than) Nancy Loomis. In Scream 2, we hardly see Nancy and she is barely on our radar, but in this movie, we got to know the ghost face killers which is important for me. I in no way mean to undermine Nancy's brilliance of planning to frame Mickey, because the lack of a plan is a definite downside to the Kirsch's plan, but I was a fan of the reveal. Perhaps the Kirsch family did not want to get away with everything. Maybe they were willing to face jail time or death penalty (not sure if New York does it or not) for their actions. Maybe they wanted to send a message to the "Richie is innocent" conspiracists. Or maybe they weren't smart enough to get away with murder. All minor plot holes aside, I really did love this movie.
Mindy saying "fudge this franchise" made me laugh and Kirby actually surviving and we knew she survived made this movie even better... Also how Kirby killed Ethan with Stu's TV and saying "i saw that in a movie once"
My 2 largest issues (motive aside) were: 1. Making Gale revert back to her old ways after she clearly stated she wouldn’t write another book at the end of 5. It really diminishes the impact of Dewey’s death from the previous film by having her just continue to be the self centred fame hungry jerk she always was. She learned nothing….she actually profited off of his death. 6 movies in and she has zero character arc or growth. Somewhere, Dewey is rolling in his grave. 2. Not just the fake out kills but how they transpire. For a writing and directing team that clearly has eyes for the details, damn do they really drop the ball on the concept of time. How does Mindy get gut stabbed twice on the way to the theatre and not only survive but go to a hospital, get fixed up, released and then is somehow running towards the theatre at the end? Tara got stabbed in the 5th movie and then spent 3/4 of the movie in the hospital…..but mindy? Nope, like 1 hour. Also Chad should’ve absolutely died not just because of the 84 stab wounds but because of TIME….he laid there for 30 minutes bleeding out. Anyways it was a good, fun movie but the few issues it had….were big ones. Thanks for all your great videos.
I actually think the motive works better than it did with Mrs Loomis in 2. The only scenes Mrs Loomis have are as “Debbie Salt”, anr she never actually interacts with Sidney at all. She’s a side character at most and her main characterization is as a Gale fangirl. I think Det. Bailey, Quinn and “Ethan” make more sense because we get to see them interact with the Core 4 and they actually have an impact on the plot
i think Billy's role is just a very important part of Sam's character. her hallucinations and visions of him persisting into Scream VI show us that she is still greatly struggling with who her father was and what that says about her. how his identity impacts hers. when someone mentions how it's "in her blood" or something else about how Billy's legacy is genetically meant to be carried on with her, she doesn't outwardly show much reaction to it anymore. she tries to appear strong. but, seeing what no one except Sam sees and hearing what no one except Sam hears, all the things her hallucinations of Billy say to her (aka, what her own sick mind is forcing on her), that shows us that she IS affected by all of that. if we didn't see her visions of Billy still, seeing that not much has changed for her since Scream 5, i don't think we would understand her character as much as we do. while he did not play as big of a role this time, i think Billy's presence is still important in giving us insight into Sam's psyche. cause this Billy is not a ghost of the real Billy or something, it's a manifestation of Sam's mental state through an imaginary version of her DNA. and on a more fun personal side to it, i just love still seeing Billy. in the grandness of this franchise, it feels like the original Scream is hardly anything now. even though they were the original killers and are mentioned in 2-4, it feels as if we saw so little of Billy and Stu in comparison to the rest of the franchise. sure, it's the same for any other Ghostface killer, but these are the originals! i was so excited to see Skeet back in Scream VI. i just hope we get to see Matthew as Stu come back sometime. as the original killers, i think they deserve to be given more of a role in the franchise and i think Hallucination Billy is achieving that for the character (even though he's just a vision.)
Agreed. I like what it adds to her character and mindset. The only thing that keeps bothering me is: why does her vision of Billy from the climax of Scream? Like, how would she have any visual perspective of what that would look like? It would be funny (and super meta) if her vision of Billy is actually the actor who played him in Stab. Since that is likely the only representation of the event/person that she has actually seen.
@@nicholascaccese4126 Probably pictures of him, and any info from stories of what happened. In Scream 5 there's a picture of Billy they show up on the TV during the "suspects" conversation. That would be funny if she saw Owen Wilson, LOL. But no, she's seen photos, but details like the clothes are probably just for us as the audience. I noticed the blood makeup on him in 5 is very inaccurate. I did a Sidney costume for Halloween, and my fiancé was Billy, I'm an artist and did the blood FX on our costumes, and I made his costume far more accurate than they did in 5, lol.
@@angelapileggi6031 Good point. In the Scream universe the murders are incredibly famous, so she's likely seen images of Billy before. It just always strikes me a little funny that her vision is him from the climax, since she wouldn't have seen images of that specifically, lol. Yeah you're right that it isn't totally accurate. Curious why they couldn't replicate that better, especially since you said you were able to.
I absolutely loved the opening kill and how we got to see more of Sam and Tara’s relationship. I wasn’t a huge fan of Sam in 5 but after this movie I love her character more. I miss Sidney but Sam is now our final girl and I’m not mad about it. I also loved the double Ghostface knife clean swipe. To me that gave me just as much excitement as when we got all three Spidermen in No Way Home. Thank you Cris for another awesome video. I’ve been waiting for your spoiler review!!!!
I really love the inner turmoil Samantha is dealing with between being a good person and the bloodlust she’s been passed on by her dad. I’m looking forward to that coming out more in the next movie.
@@Flamne What made Sidney such a likeable character was that she’s had trauma in her life with the death of her mother, and Sidney is so likeable as a character that you want to root for. Sam I find false and a poorly written character. A. Why does she have schizophrenia?, why isn’t it explained?. B. She wasn’t vulnerable before the Ghostface attacks in Scream 5, she’s Billy’s daughter and she don't get along with her mum. That’s it?. Wow that’s some poorly written character.
@@nu-metalfan2654 she had no idea who her father was, only to find out he was a notorious serial killer in her community that she grew up hearing horror stories about. Which led to her parents getting split up and is why she left the community she grew up in becasue she couldn't live with the ghost of her serial killer father haunting her. Then her boyfriend turns out to be a psychotic killer who was obsessed with her because of her serial killer father and who is actually dating another girl who is also a serial killer and only pretended to date her to get close to her and kill everyone she knows. I think that classifies as trauma and would likely explain her mental health issues.
I thought i was the only person who spotted MojoJojo walking up the subway stairs!! 😂 I went to see the movie twice over the weekend and none of my friends noticed! I loved it so much!
hes a dated story arc that should have died in the 2000's & never have enter the franchise as we get bombarded by enough sports crap irl. Somehow the lesbian died but the jock survives ?!?! Someone make it make sense. He's Cleary sucking someones D on production to keep surviving like this. The fact he will probably end up with Tara knocks me sick as she's also clearly a lesbian in scream 5
I loved the bodega scene, it’s one of my favourite scenes from the franchise and the opening scene was amazing as well! I also really liked the scream 5 returning characters in this one. I also loved seeing multiple ghost faces at once in the same scene.
I loved how brutal and relentless the ghostface was in this, he truly felt unstoppable and overpowering. This one was also so much more suspenseful than the others it was such a good theater experience!
@@megan2484 i do agree that was one of the most flawed parts of the movie, i think Chad (as much as i enjoy his character) and Gale should realistically 100% been dead, especially with 3 killers working at the same time.
My personal favorite part was honestly the fake out with Kirby, I thought that was pretty smart. But the double ghost face knife swipe was absolutely iconic and something that I never knew we needed! :)
the core 4 is a great group of characters, and sam is one of the best and most interesting final girls ever due to the fact that she feels kind of good while killing. The opening scene is also amazing.
I agree with everything you said! This movie was SOOO intense and had SUCH a brilliant opening and was so extreme up until the reveal. I was expecting an enormous surprise reveal and when it was what it was, I was like "oh, this doesn't match with the awesomeness of the first hour and a half of this movie"
I loved that they showed how each Tara and Sam were dealing with the events that happened in Woodsboro. I also like that the reveal mirrored Scream 2 with the parent seeking revenge.
I actually love how many times some of the survivors were stabbed and just walked it off like it was nothing. I think they were poking fun at older horror movies when characters seemed immortal. The knew what they were doing. I’m also not seeing much of how brilliant the subway scene was. The constant disappearing and reappearing of ghostface between the lights going on and off was a nod to Friday the 13th and how Jason could seemingly teleport everywhere. Plus I could faintly hear the iconic Friday the 13th theme. Very subtle, very smart.
I absolutely loved the opening scene, and the double knife cleaning scene. The ending reveal left a bit to be desired, though, I may be a victim of my own expectations and not every slasher can be Halloween Ends.
i loved that they improved sam’s character writing , melissa is a great actress i first saw her in the show vida (go watch it it’s so good) she’s so lively and quirky in it so i was upset when people were bashing her acting in scream 5
I saw it opening night and I loved it! I was shocked at moments and happy with some of the differences and overall ghost face was brutal how he should be! But that reveal like you said underwhelming still not the worst one and looking forward to more I’ve been waiting for your review! ❤️🔥
My only gripe with some of the stabbings is that no one in the scenes after they've been stabbed, is limping around or showing scars. Kirby showed hers but Tara was stabbed clear through her hand in 5. There would be some definite nerve damage. Chad should've had some sort of limp like Dewey. He was stabbed TF up in 5. Tara was stabbed in the back in the final act but by the last scene she acts like nothing happened. And damn, they took out Richie's ENTIRE family aside from his mom. I am STILL waiting for Tara and Samantha's mother to show up in 7. I think that will be a good way to tie Sidney back into the franchise bc their mom and Sidney would've been in high school at the same time. For 7 the mother DEFINITELY needs to show up.
Again, people are reading too much into it and expecting too much realism. It's a movie dude and a horror movie at that. Stop and ask yourself, is it realistic for someone like Gale, Sydney and others to be targeted by so many killers and survive? Nope it's not. you really have to use your suspension of disbelief and keep it moving.
Something I loved was Kirby’s return it was awesome to see her back after the 2011 ghostface attacks and seeing her interact with Mindy was so fun to watch overall a great instalment to the franchise.
Yes! I was so glad to see Kirby back & seeing how she has been able to give her life a bigger purpose. She refused to let her past define her future. I also liked how they showed that she did still have slight trauma from it though. As they were discussing all the masks & which killers they belonged to, once they showed Charlie, she visibly looked away in disgust and quickly moved on with the conversation.
I loved the way it kept throwing me off, despite me seeing a couple leaks beforehand. I also loved how it connected every movie beforehand. The callbacks to Scream 2 made me happy as a major fan. I'm still iffy on the reveals and motives, but I'm sure it'll grow on me in time Edit: Also, the opening was absolutely fantastic. As you said, it MAYBE dragged a bit, but not enough for me to really complain. It was so good. And also, that therapist was incorrect. He does not have to report her to the police unless she's making a threat to do something horrific, which she was not
This movie made me really love Sam’s character. From the moment she tased the dude in the nuts till the end when she went all stabby stabby. She’s definitely leading lady material.
Thank You For Watching!!

I think they got her playing the role of the ex friend who acknowledge Jill for reasons in Scream 4 and practically almost killing her
Nice catch. I must’ve missed that
Ya I kinda want to hear her side of the story when she found out Jill was the killer lol I wanted her to talk more about her experience.
It would’ve been nice if they gave Kirby a chase scene. I want to see Kirby in action. She was supposed to be a final girl in scream 4.

@ThomasHewittBubbait is meta horror
@Thomas Hewitt there isn't a post credit scene in the Halloween trilogy
It is more a "haha gotcha" to the audience for sitting through the credits than any dig to other movies. The latest scream movies have been all about the fans, not the movies. After I sat through credits and saw that I thought "yeah you got me..."
I was annoyed by it, I only sat through the credits and Demi song because I saw a bunch of posts that "Scream finally has post-credits scene so stick around!!" and then it was just like ha sike we don't need one! What I honestly loved about Scream VI was pretty much how the core 4 characters evolved from 5CREAM, and how they all really became loveable as the movie progressed to where I never been that attached to not see them die, that tense feeling of any of the core 4 dying feels pretty good for a slasher movie!
I love how horrifying they made Ghostface. From his speed to his brutality. Easily the scariest Ghostface in my opinion.
Right, there was never a moment for me when Ghostface wasn’t terrifying. When I watched in theaters everyone gasped and yelled when he came on screen😂

I’m shocked to say this, but this Scream has the BEST opening scene in my opinion. We never got something like it before. 🔥
I totally agree
It was good but c'mon nothing could beat the first one.

Was genuinely surprised how much i ended up liking Chad and Tara’s relationship it felt natural wasn’t really forced.
Same here! I didn’t see much of a relationship in Scream 5, but you can clearly tell they fell for each other in 6
Same
@@gaybetch I think when they moved together as Tara told Bailey when they were being questioned after the bodega that they moved to New York in the summer and since this is a year after Scream 5, I would assume Chad, Mindy, and Tara are freshmen in college.
I loved how many suspense filled moments they had and all the brutal kills LMAO
I LOVED the opening plot twist. When he ripped off the mask my jaw was on the floor. It was so different.
Same I was like they go reveal the killer already?
Ghost face’s silhouette and how he stood out amongst the darkness , also Loved the shot of the two ghost face cleaning their knives in unison
On top of that I think she knew she wouldn't survive which is why she went last.
not to mention after she fell she didn't even look human anymore. I actually thought she was a slug or an alien when I first saw it
@@biancascandy5001 I agree that Anika’s death had such a profound effect on me out of the deaths from 5 and the others from this movie.
I loved how they incorporated ALL of the previous movies into this one, shouting out to every previous killer via DNA on the Ghostface mask.
I loved Mindy and Kirby's conversation about horror movies!
Except mindy said the new Candyman is equal to the original is laughable.
Yeah especially the post credit scene was funny
This movie was so intense. I absolutely loved it. The reveal was believable and the opening scene was pretty awesome like WTH ?!?! He took off his mask
Yeah the opening scene was amazing I loved it. The killer wasn’t the actual killer and was killed by the killer.
Yeah but then he finds his friend dead and gets killed by the "ACTUAL" killer.
This was one of the best screams!!! Actually kept me guessing and didn’t feel 2 hours long. Loved it
Yeah I was on my feet The entire time
First, I love that there was a opening reveal!!!
Second, loved the on the street attack of Tara then into the Bodega.
Third, the appartment scene was suspenseful AF.
Fourth, the punch to Gale from Tara. 🙌🏽
Fifth, the subway scene was too real! 🫣
Lasty 6th, that double swipe of the knife AT THE SAME TIME was absolutely BEA-Utiful!!!!!!!
One of the worst opening imo.
I loved how this movie actually made me feel tense during chase scenes. I feel it was the most tense I’ve felt in a scream movie.
I love how suspenseful this movie was. I was never scared of slasher movies but this movie had me hiding under my jacket.
I loved it when Tara and Sam were surrounded by both Ghostface killers. That along with Chad's "kill" were great!
the way I reacted when they did the fake out Ghostface reveal, loved that part.
I love how different the opening was. I was absolutely surprised how new it felt to the original film’s opening.
You can say “fuck” lol idk why y’all censor yourselves as if your the one making videos when they don’t have to really in the first place

My 2 largest issues (motive aside) were:
Thanks for all your great videos.
tbh, true, but tara in the 5th movie had her leg broken.
The only possible justification for 2 is that it's just pure luck or something.
@@luzcayman4998 totally forgot her leg was snapped. I guess broken bones is the only way to truly slow someone down lol.
@@ghristophermyers666 or something.
i think Billy's role is just a very important part of Sam's character. her hallucinations and visions of him persisting into Scream VI show us that she is still greatly struggling with who her father was and what that says about her. how his identity impacts hers. when someone mentions how it's "in her blood" or something else about how Billy's legacy is genetically meant to be carried on with her, she doesn't outwardly show much reaction to it anymore. she tries to appear strong. but, seeing what no one except Sam sees and hearing what no one except Sam hears, all the things her hallucinations of Billy say to her (aka, what her own sick mind is forcing on her), that shows us that she IS affected by all of that. if we didn't see her visions of Billy still, seeing that not much has changed for her since Scream 5, i don't think we would understand her character as much as we do. while he did not play as big of a role this time, i think Billy's presence is still important in giving us insight into Sam's psyche. cause this Billy is not a ghost of the real Billy or something, it's a manifestation of Sam's mental state through an imaginary version of her DNA.
and on a more fun personal side to it, i just love still seeing Billy. in the grandness of this franchise, it feels like the original Scream is hardly anything now. even though they were the original killers and are mentioned in 2-4, it feels as if we saw so little of Billy and Stu in comparison to the rest of the franchise. sure, it's the same for any other Ghostface killer, but these are the originals! i was so excited to see Skeet back in Scream VI. i just hope we get to see Matthew as Stu come back sometime. as the original killers, i think they deserve to be given more of a role in the franchise and i think Hallucination Billy is achieving that for the character (even though he's just a vision.)
I aint readin allat
@@smallbrains4586 I guess that's not a surprise if you have small brains 🙃.
Loved the two ghost faces in sync with the knives wiping the blood off 🔪 craziest scream shot ever
I really love the inner turmoil Samantha is dealing with between being a good person and the bloodlust she’s been passed on by her dad. I’m looking forward to that coming out more in the next movie.
I find that all ridiculous tbh.

Just make her A Ghostface
I loved how the opening sequence threw us all for a loop! I really thought we we’re going to know the killer right from the beginning!
I was actually quite blown away with this movie. Didn’t like 5 so much but 6 definitely got me back on track with the scream franchise.
I thought i was the only person who spotted MojoJojo walking up the subway stairs!! 😂 I went to see the movie twice over the weekend and none of my friends noticed! I loved it so much!
Can we all agree mason is a treasure in the scream franchise they almost got us there but glad he pulled it out again 🎉
hes a dated story arc that should have died in the 2000's & never have enter the franchise as we get bombarded by enough sports crap irl.
When Anika tried to escape with the ladder and ghostface started to shake it, mocking her, was somehow really funny to me.
So many things I loved! But we are still cracking up over the "beheading"...and Mindy figuring it out but also mad she missed the monologue again 🤣
That one scene where the 2 ghostfaces do the synced knife clean was SO cool
The dynamic between the Carpenter sisters felt like genuine sibling tension, and I loved it.
I loved how brutal and relentless the ghostface was in this, he truly felt unstoppable and overpowering. This one was also so much more suspenseful than the others it was such a good theater experience!
he would have felt more unstoppable if he did not let so many people live
@@megan2484 i do agree that was one of the most flawed parts of the movie, i think Chad (as much as i enjoy his character) and Gale should realistically 100% been dead, especially with 3 killers working at the same time.
So brutal that 2 of them couldn't get hit a single organ in Chad's body
Too bad it was a waste since he didn't really kill anyone
@@throwaway440 even Kirby, they knocked her down and let her live for no reason
I loved this movie! I really like Sam's development and the third act of "I'm not trapped in here with you, your trapped in here with me!" vibes.
My personal favorite part was honestly the fake out with Kirby, I thought that was pretty smart. But the double ghost face knife swipe was absolutely iconic and something that I never knew we needed! :)
I loved the character interactions of the Core Four and how it focused on their trauma, and why they need to stick together!!
My favorite part of the movie had to be the ladder scene & seeing it in 3D in 4DX was insane. Really hurt to see Anika die really felt for Mindy🥺

@@PTRK490 Yep, faster than us viewers actually 😄
the core 4 is a great group of characters, and sam is one of the best and most interesting final girls ever due to the fact that she feels kind of good while killing.
@@jmedrano704 I really feel like there is something up with Sam & Tara's mom
For 7 the mother DEFINITELY needs to show up.
they actually show taras scar in 6
I agree, that little conversation between Sam and gale about her mom was for a reason.
@@hshawn00 atleast, Sidney, Gale and Dewey was likeable character. i didn't care at all with this newbie

Yeah funny ASF 🤣 but gale went down went down swinging 💪💯
Same energy as Sidney telling ghostface she was bored in 5. Just comes to show they don’t take these killer’s seriously 😂
Something I loved was Kirby’s return it was awesome to see her back after the 2011 ghostface attacks and seeing her interact with Mindy was so fun to watch overall a great instalment to the franchise.
Nah never got the hype of Kirby
@@excaliber8713 lol ok so
I'm still iffy on the reveals and motives, but I'm sure it'll grow on me in time
Edit: Also, the opening was absolutely fantastic.
