    Cool Sir, hey we tinker and get them right. Love how we help one another, love that you speak that way Sir! Hey, I work on a 1963 Chevy C10, I like to learn from others, I remain open to learn.. looks really cool, sounds good I’d like to share an opinion and express my findings on a couple details I noticed Sir…
    I noticed a really interesting thing when I like you preferred to leave the ignition advance system inoperative by not using the vacuum canister at the base of distributor. I discovered and used UA-cam and tested the following: You’re down south so I know you experienced this overheating which can be eliminated Sir, by re-enabled vacuum advance.. secret here is to use 1 of the 2 available “manifold” vacuum port at the base of the Holly 600 carburetor in the footage below the vacuum plug you noticed damaged in your video. My thing I noticed was the idle is enhanced and the time the spark ignites the charge-air is the “KEY” to running “COOLER” at those long red lights. I was stubborn like most and thought… well I’m seeing all this on UA-cam let’s experiment?
    Mine is a 1963 Chevy C10 with a 383 small block Stroker with a Howard’s cam, not much vacuum and the tuning is so much more possible “After I went with the vacuum advance system working..
    Also, don’t get caught-up in the old “Only use ported and only use manifold ridiculous discussion Sir. Look-up “David Visard” this is an older gentleman whom worked with GM, when GM, was beginning to become eco friendly. Going with the “ported” vacuum signal resulted in lower emissions. Reason being the engine produces much more hydrocarbon emissions with “Manifold” vacuums being used at idle all over the USA at traffic lights big polluters then with “manifold vacuum.”… Manifold vacuum is less eco friendly “but” the engine runs more efficiently…Mr. David Visard was there and I trust a veteran of the history of the subject and I go with the reasoning. High Performance move to enable that system with the - Manifold vacuum used to operate…
    Cool cam in that truck Sir! Sounds great.. keep the wheels they look cool= Peace😊

      Yes sir! I appreciate you watching and I appreciate even more the knowledge you shared with me. I've watched a few of his videos and have learned some things from him. A lot of people wouldn't because his videos may seem boring to some but, I'm always open to learn. Being entertained doesn't always work out. I may still hook the vacuum advance back up one day. Just weighing my options and continuing to do research. Thanks again dude! Be blessed ✊🏾✊🏾

    Most people put too big a carburetor on. The engine is probably running better with a amaller carb. Carb tuning is difficultcat best without a dyno. You can get close usually good enough in most cases. The only comment about a new cam is make sure all the parts lifters springs etc. Are all designed to work together. Very good video Thank You.

    • @WorkingwithBobby
      @WorkingwithBobby  4 місяці тому

      No doubt. The engine is nothing more than an air pump. I could put a dominator on it and as long as it's jetted right, the engine won't know the difference. Thank you for watching!✊🏾✊🏾

      Good question! I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination but, I do know that the carb comes new with three different cams in the box. If your carb did not come new or you maybe lost the other cams, you can order them online and choose the one that's right for your application.

    • @WorkingwithBobby
      @WorkingwithBobby  Рік тому

      I ran it to a 12volt key on source. If you run it to the alternator, the choke would have power all the time. Even when the key is in the off position and burn up the coil that operates the choke. Try to find an unused KEY ON source in the fuse box to tap I to.

    I never run double pump carburetor. 600 is great for mildly cam engines. Double pump carburetor is way too much for your setup.

    • @WorkingwithBobby
      @WorkingwithBobby  Рік тому +1

      The 650 double pumper ran fine on there. It actually performed better. I had to change it back because the 650 didn't have a choke on it and it was horrible to keep running during winter cold starts. Remember, the engine will on use what air and fuel it needs. Carburetors have a negative effect on engines when they are jetted wrong for that particular engine.
