  • Here we have a 650 double pumper ( dual accelerator pumps) Holley carburetor with the float bowl level of fuel set too high on one side and too low on the other. Here I will demonstrate how you adjust and set your float level fuel height. You may want to do this if your classic car is running either too rich or too lean causing either flooding, hard starts and many other running problems. Car wont idle due to fuel mixture screws or in this case that both bowls were set at the wrong fuel height. If you are experiencing any kind of bogging or hesitation under acceleration, this may also be affecting you due to lack of fuel if fuel bowl level is too low. if you are experiencing flooding, your fuel may be set too high. if the level does not move up nor down no matter how much you adjust, your needle may be stuck in the seat. Try hitting the carburetor with the rubber/plastic side of a screwdriver and the impacts of the screwdriver can sometimes knock the needle loose.

Excellent and very clear. Although I have a later Holley with the glass I know better how to adjust front and back. Thanks

Really appreciate the comment. One suggestion. Start off by setting it turned in to where the level will be set at its lowest setting and then work your way up from there because if you go over the level, you will need to wait till the car eats up the gas for the level to go back down. Its not like when you have the hole to where the gas spills out and you can see the instant adjustment.

I have an issue with a 750 Holley DP, did a kit on it, at idle only one of the primary’s is dripping fuel at idle, if you rev it it wants to flood. Floats are set, regulator is set. I have no idea what it is.

You have a restriciton. Open it back up and blow compressed air through all the bored especially the one that leads to that primary that isnt injecting fuel

What's your fuel pressure regulator set at?

The pump is producing very low pressure so i had to have the regulator wide open. But just set it at around 5psi and you will be okay .

Of the motor wants to still sort of stay on you are dieseling. You must be running rich and have fouled plugs and lots of carbon build up

You like mechanical fans over electric? Nice set up!

Thank you! And I like electric but don't trust ebay special or cheap fans. If you have a big motor dont trust those. Get yourself Derale or Spal fans. Those are good quality fans that pull lots of TRUE CFM
