Ah, that’s a good catch! Thanks for the reference. So in this list, the Necromancer would have to be the general then. Probably worth shifting some gear around to make my vampire a wizard in that case I think!
@@tabletoptactics also, idk if it was being done off-screen, but every time the sceptre of de noirot is used, you have to roll to see if you wound yourself on a 1 :)
Love the wood elves converted out of AOS models. The archers from the Idoneth are basically invisible and I wouldn't have noticed were it not for the fact that I painted 20 of those things lol
The zombie dragon looks insane! Btw, I love the fun chemistry in the battle report, makes the whole game come alive. Looking forward to seeing more batreps from you.
That was a great game, those dragons need a stern talking to I think. Not so much unstoppable force vs immovable object as just two immovable objects looking at eachother menacingly, lol. Absolutely loved seeing Wood Elves, gorgeously painted too!
Grotty is forgiven for its mishap/forgetting to schedule the latest battle report today because your fabulous battle report's are Awesome & love the special effects, banter, jinx's unlucky roll's, etc, & excellent episodes 👌
This is y'alls last battle report on The Old World in the last few months. Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but was this game dropped from the channel? I am really enjoying going through the backlog of Old World battle reports, hope you guys revisit the game again soon.
Love the return to old would 10:22 . But Jinx, the Wild Riders have frenzy, you mentioned it when the wolves charged. +1 attack for the rider and mount.
actually it does not apply to the mount. Like written p.171 : "This modifier does not apply to the model’s mount (in the case of a cavalry model), to the beasts that draw it (in the case of a chariot), or to its rider (in the case of a monster)."
You cannot use the shield on the Vampire to improve the Zombie dragon's save, only the rider's. So either way youll max out at a 4+ armour save. So you might as well be a wizard and leave it behind.
@@HughMurphy395 ah old school GW. However the wording is again meh. The shield doesn't improve the monsters armor save, but I am not using the monsters armor save to begin with (since it he rider got the better save). I am officially confused ;)

One thing you missed about the Sceptpr of De Noir. Whenever you use it, you have to roll a d6. On a 1, the user loses a wound. So you can kill your necromancer by using it if you're not careful!
Beautifully painted armies and a really fun battle report. Sadly the Wood Elves peaked in 7th Edition and won't be appearing in any Old World tournament reports.
35+ years ago I played a tournament game (the 1st ever GW UK tournament I think) as Wood Elves against Vampire Counts. It was a total disaster. I rolled a 12 for my first fear save and ran away. That caused units nearby to roll, and 3/4 of the army ran off the board within 2 or 3 turns. Mental. I think I rolled 5 or 6 11/12s. I never played Warhammer again, instead concentrated on guitars and girls. I never looked back.
@@cb3065 it's all in the miscast table... On 8&9's it's "cast at its casting value, for the purpose of dispel attempts"... If it has multiple casting values, iirc you take the lowest of them... On 10 through 12s it counts as a perfect invocation....
@@tabletoptactics Happy to help! I played them today myself and it made wonders for their survivability to be able to strike first and take away alot of the opponents attacks.
You actually can't counter charge dogs (if you were talking about the T1 charges), since they're not cavalry, chariots or monsters. The three of them could have maybe used it against the black knights, though eyeballing it they might have been too close.
@@assistantref5084 Good catch, I was well aware of the movement aspect to the rule but had completly forgotten about only being able to counter charge certain unit types. Fortunatly in my game I countercharged Inner Circle Knights so no accidental cheating.
It feels like a bit of an oversight IMO that you can't counter-charge war beasts. It makes them extremely strong into cavalry since you get the speed advantage without opening yourself up being counter-charged. They also usually have access to vanguard, which makes them even better at that role.
Really cool converted warhawk for the wood elves and wild riders on the new wolves kit is amazing. Would like to see more wood elf battle reports.🎉 However can vanguard units charge turn 1?
I think the woodelves tree spirits only lose their regen saves to flaming attacks because they are flammable....I don't think just any magical attack ignores that unless it specifically states...am I wrong?
The quality of the battle report is excellent and it was very entertaining. However, the outcome of the battle was hardly a surprise and clear to me from turn 1 even though the lists are fairly balanced. I don't want to be mean but there is a clear experience/skill gap between the players (e.g. getting charged by wolves with wild riders is a nono). I'm sure, chef would have piloted the wood elves differently. That said, the game is still relatively new and we all have to start somewhere so keep up the good work and practice makes perfect.
Just a beginner here, so I got two questions: what rule allows the Vampire Lord the Ward Save (of a 5+?)? And the Necromancer casts Vanhels on the Grave Guard, but they were not in his arc of vision - do I miss something? Thanks!
No worries - the vampire’s ward save is on his data profile in the pdf. Vanhel’s I can’t remember, but I seem to think it didn’t require the vision arc, I’ll have to check the spell.
