Wow. Just wow. So many memories came flooding back. I was C/2/16 1st Inf Div. 1 Sept 1969 to 11 Oct 1969 when I was wounded. I was exactly there probably at the exact same time. My GOD how on earth did we survive? Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Found a photo album of my dad and his Vietnamese mama son in the attic after his death….. way before he married my mom but I couldn’t tell her. He spent a pretty long time there and loved the ppl and the culture he lived in there. Pretty sure I have a brother or sister there…
Thanks for sharing. I live in Scotland and seeing all you young men having a sense of humour during the war speaks volumes about your characters. Respect.
I had the honor of relieving your unit when your colors returned to the states. I was a Sky Trooper with A/227th AHB 1st Cav Div. The VC never forgot the hell you gave them and it was our job to make sure they didn't.
My dad Richard Michael Cronin was there march68-march69 with the 1st infantry division b company 1st/16th mechanized..from the 9th infantry division 5th/60th b company mech..he passed away last november 🇺🇲😇 thanks for your service🇺🇲

Wow. You guys are my HEROS. This was a very touching and eye opening video. I lived through you in this video. Told me what you guys really did and sacrificed for us over there. THANK YOU DEEPLY. You guys are legends. God bless
There NOT legends, they did their duty, like millions before And after. They do deserve your gratitude. I imagine not a one, would want to be called a legend, especially when so many of their friends died.
Great video, I hope that after so many years gone you have put this in its proper place .....personally. You are about 5 to 10 years older than me but i still think that you and your buddies still need to be considered heros.
Great video, I served with the Big Red One 1986-1988. Assigned to 24th Transportation company up on Custer Hill, Ft.Riley, Kansas. Thank you for all you and the rest of the guys did in Nam. I’m glad you made it home
Mr. Guy, thank you for your service. I'm surprised you don't have a CCR or Rolling Stones song narrating this video. But it's still good. I just watched the video of you in nicaragua; you don't look like you've aged since vietnam....
Patrick, I read your book and I enjooyed it more than your video. It let me known some of the men and situations you experienced, well worth the $20. Thanks. Rubén 🙌🏻
Thanks buddy 🤗, I am glad you enjoyed it. The true hero’s are the guys who didn’t make it. I have displayed their names as a small tribute to the debit we owe them. God bless their souls and their loved ones💕. Pat
I believe any man or woman who went there are all heroes. I had a friend a navy medic died there from friendly fire.My older brother was a marine over there for 18 months. I have the utmost respect for all our military past and present. You guys are my heroes!
Retired now 72, was with the 1st MAW MWHG-1 MWCS-1 DaNang 1969, then college, Mainframe System Analyst Programmer 25 years, attacked by the Group Thinkers trying to force people from Jobs & Properties, refused to go down, Stand your ground, Happy to be Alive.
Thanks mate was there in 68/69 in Nui Dat with Australians. The only American combat we saw was in the stars and strips so my eyes are really opening to the the American side. Also what was reported in the papers was not accurate even the official briefings were crap. It is only now we see the true extent of what happened with books and UA-cam, once again thanks. Been back 5 times and love the place. Cheers
Wally I met a few Aussies while I was in DiAn and admired their courage and humor. A great country, “the land down under”, I went there on R & R in July of 1969. And met a really nice girl, who showed me all around Sydney. Unfortunately, a fellow GI stoled my pictures from our mail bag. I also had some unforgettable times at Kings Cross and was amazed at the size and quality of the food and good times. Thanks for the safe harbor. I also have went back to Vietnam a few times since and it was and still is a beautiful country with some really great people. Pat
I spent my time with 4th inf. div. 10th armored Dak-tko/ pleiku/ ankhe/ lz X-ray/ LZ oasis/ lZ action/FB Blackhawk/ not with the TOY m-16 but 90 MM main on 52 ton M-48. 1969
I HAVE GONE THROUGH HERE. WHEN I WORKED WITH THE 25THID WALKING PAIRELL WITH THE 27THID WOLF HOUNDS AND THE 9TH AND THE 4TH. AND THE BIG RED ONE. YOU GUYS WERE REALLY CLOSE TO THE BLACK VERGING MOUNTAIN. AND WE'RE ON THE MICON DELTA. YOUR WARRIOR'S. GOD BLESS EVERYONE OF YOU. AND WELCOME HOME. BROTHERS. CARLOS GARZAJR THE AMERICAN TUNNEL RAT.
This vid deserves an academy awarded. It's brilliant. It captures everything. I wonder how many wars that we think should have happened. Shouldn't have?
The true Special Forces are just grunts doing a thing. None of us had blond hair or surfed (I did skateboard but on the east coast), but we show up when called. Trenches of WW1, beaches of WW2, Korea, Veit Nam, Grenada, Desert Storm, Iraq War . Call us we'll be there. Nothing special. Just your beautiful sons and daughters answering the call. So as parents. Tax payers. Maybe now older and wiser vets yourselves. When the call comes. Investigate. Don't just hand over your beautiful child.
Just reminds me of all the SH1T! Only thing worse than being Soldier? Is to never have been Soldier. Crushed. Burned. Beaten. Folded. Beaten. Folded. Fashioned. Sharpened. Polished. Into a Sword. You cannot un-make a Sword. My wife jokes: "You may have left the Army - But the Army never left you". I am 70 now. Army Flight Lieutenant. 3 AirMobil. 122 B. Coy. 2 Bgd. Rhodesia. 1972. Thanks for the memories, Patrick. Carry On - Soldier!
I have went back and was unable to locate any of my Vietnamese friends, I was told they had all moved to Germany. The jungle locations and villages had also changed beyond recognition. Thanks for comment and watching. Pat
That was the style of Coca-Cola cans back in late sixties. They had "pull-tabs" that actually came completely off the can when you opened it, which were bad to step on barefoot, but you could make necklaces and Christmas tree decorations if you had enough of them. Back around the same time, beer cans were made of steel and needed an actual can opener. It took the beer industry a long time to switch to aluminum cans with pop-tops.......
To those who served I thank you for doing your duty .but for many of you who think it was a war ? Sorry to burst you bubble 💭 it was never a war it was a police action otherwise known as a CONFLICT .and unfortunately we LOST. Our sudden lost of Afghanistan may have STRATIGIC consequences
The evil politicians, played a bad game, you had to suffered these fools, all the blood, and treasure lost, for nothing,.so sad!!! When we don't fight a war to win.
too cool, you guys looked like some bad dudes no beer bellies then. how about now??? the girls looked hard too. real hard.. i was army 69/70 phan rang.
