    1. Eggs (especially yolks)
    2. Fatty meat
    3. Butter
    4. Canned (fatty) fish
    5. Hard cheese
    6. Heavy whipping cream (optional addition of MCTs)
    7. Nuts
    8. Optional - no artificial sugars
My 2 cents: make sure that your fish is sustainably sourced and ethically produced. World fish stocks have catastrophically crashed.

Changed my diet to simple meals, meat, fish, eggs, cheese and other full fat dairy, salads and cruciferous veggies. The only pre-packaged "keto" food I use is Keto Chow to boost the protein of my dairy desserts. I used to eat ice cream, cookies, crackers, vegetables and fruit every day to the tune of 400 grams of carbs and 4400 calories a day. Now I eat 15 grams of carbs and 1600 calories a day and never feel the need to snack on carbs.

I don't know if you're aware of it, but h/h does have higher amounts of lactose than a keto follower should have. I didn't know that until about a month ago when I was listening to a keto cook here on YT. He briefly stated that he had to use heavy whipping cream in his ice cream desserts because he found out that there's more sugar in h/h than is comfortable to ingest.
I like your idea of making an ice cream-type snack with the berries, and think I'll implement that tomorrow! I found a brand of kefir I like that is just plain, no sweetener, so that should work very well.

And 2) hanging from a bar most days. I think that the hanging part helps maintain your grip strength, which is correlates with longevity, and perhaps it helps respiration of spinal fluids.
I’ve done both for the past couple decades and “so far so good”. Low magnesium can also cause fat gain and insulin issues because you need magnesium to keep cells sensitive to insulin. So if you have been under stress. Stress will zap ⚡️ magnesium like nothing else. Magnesium can actually help you lose weight. Plus adrenal fatigue can cause weight gain too.

Also, 1. reduce your caffeine. With diet sodas (I had changed mine due to lack of stock not realizing it had caffeine) and coffee I was around 150 mg per day that was raising my cortisol all day long - and glucose (bonus I sort of lost my hunger) and 2. make sure you're getting enough water. I had no idea but yes being dehydrated can make your sugar more concentrated in the blood thus higher glucose level. I just could not get my glucose under 95 in the morning until I had 6 glasses of water. Next day, 69. Totally dramatic.

@Velma West….I had been hearing for some time now, that if you drink too much water, it washes out your minerals/electrolytes. One person mentioned that you need to drink your electrolytes all day, instead of plain water. This is all so confusing at times. Do this…don’t do that….this works for this person-but not for that person. It gets pretty overwhelming at times, just what to do when one has ‘tried it all’!

@@gracebe235 Drinking a bunch of plain water is not always a good idea. Add an electrolyte powder to it to ensure your not flushing out all of your trace minerals. You need to maintain a certain amount of potassium, magnesium, sodium and calcium. You’ll know you’ve gone overboard with water if you start to experience muscle fatigue, become light headed or dizzy and/or you start suffering from muscle cramps especially in the lower legs.

    • @gracebe235

@@ronin2167…..I CAN TOTALLY empathize with breaking the soda habit….even diet soda! I have read that Zevia brand is among the best diet soda, but it’s expensive….and when you want a ‘cola’ flavor, Zevia’s cola doesn’t taste like cola at all to me. Diet Rite cola isn’t healthy, and it tastes a tad too sweet….but it’s what has been helping me ween off of Coke.
Funny thing, after not drinking Coke for a while, and then when you taste it, it tastes horrible! It’s like you cleanse your palate from all of the toxins that were in it. Ginger Ale tasted more like Coke than Coke did, after not drinking it for a while. 😜
Now my husband has health issues and the doctor told him to stop the sugar…..now he sees what I mean by the Coke tastes awful after not having it for a while!
Most artificial sweeteners in diet sodas spike blood sugar too. Some don’t though.
It can take some time, but drinking a glass of water with a whole lemon squeezed into it, tastes pretty good to me….sometimes I add a pinch of Himalayan pink sea salt, yum! Plus, the lemon cleanses the liver.
Good luck on your journey, I DO KNOW how tough the soda pop habit is!

my carb addiction kicked into high gear once i got clean off drugs. everywhere i went there was candy and caffeine. i never knew coffee turbocharged insulin reaction. so i started drinking water in large amounts whenever treats were present just to have something going in. then i started heavy weight training. i do five compound exercises: chest crossovers on the cables, seated cable pulls for lower back, lat pulldowns, squats, deadlifts , and sometimes i do seated incline presses. here's the key though. i put on as much weight as i can so i can only do 8 reps max. if i can do more than 8 i add weight. if i cant do 8 i take weight off. i dont do any isolation exercises like curls or dips etc. my shoulders are 60 years old and have been rebuilt. my knees have been carrying 280 lbs for years. i do at least three sets and i'm in and out of the gym in 45 min unless its busy. i do this 3 times a week. having a place for the anxiety and cravings to go really matters. instead of just sitting there, or bumming out that working out is too involved i just do a condensed heavy weight work out. then you get very strong and stretching or walking/biking is so much easier. my walks after eating are easier to get up and do and i feel so great after getting home from the gym and using their shower as long as i want lol. have you been noticing that fast food places are changing and some closing because of keto/weights?

A sprinkle of brown sugar on oatmeal was okay. She grew up in the depression where eating in excess was a luxury and sugar was a rare treat. Right after that was WWII when sugar was rationed. My glucose sits right at 100 all the time. Has my whole life. I did have a bad episode with it a couple years ago and spent a week in the ICU with glucose hitting 1000. (That was a trip! Hearing sounds that weren't there, monsters trying to eat me that weren't there and episodes of not being able to speak or if I did the words leaving my mouth had nothing to do with the words in my head. Hey, sugar is deadly!! lol ) Found my way eventually to keto about 5 months ago. Still my glucose wants to sit at 100 never far from it in either direction. But I was working on lowering it for the past week with less eating for the most part. I was keeping it pretty steady around 80 to 85. Being that low after leaving the hospital would have me all jiggy. Anything below 90 actually. But then yesterday while working outside I took a break with water and a handful of almonds. Shortly after I was nauseated and dizzy to the point of thinking I may pass out. Heat? no. Sugar..... 66. I don't know why I reacted to it as I did? I was watching and listening to one of your videos about three weeks ago, a short one, in which you said the same thing---no sweeteners if you're insulin resistant---and it finally clicked in my beanious brain what you were actually saying. I had heard Dr. Becky Gillaspy say that about two months ago, but for some reason it just didn't resonate.
When I heard you say it three weeks ago, I finally realized what one of several (non, as in no success)-weight loss issues was; I was using Truvia sweetener in my coffee, as well as having a homemade keto dessert nearly every day.
I realized, too, that my poor GI system was in pain and overworked (to be polite) because of the erythritol in the sweeteners.
I stopped immediately using anything but stevia, one drop, in my coffee, and stopped making the desserts. Within just two or three days I was feeling much better, and my sleep quality had improved quite a bit.
Now I'm not even using stevia--I truly hate the stuff, but thought I "had to" make my coffee sweet--and use only heavy whipping cream in it, just a small amount to smooth it out and cut any bitterness.
The improvement in how I feel, as well as having lost more than 7 pounds in that short time, tells me I'm on the right track.
I'm glad I actually listened to what you were saying, both then and in this video (I think the other one is actually newer than this one by at least a few months).
